    The windshield on my MY had a stress crack a few hours I took delivery. Tesla agreed to replace it at no expense, however my service appointment has been delayed for nearly 4 months due to lack of available parts. It definitely is a shortcoming with Tesla that they need to properly scale up their service with more cars getting in the hands of drivers.

      Oddly I agree with both of you, Elon is guilty of market manipulation for Tesla. His actions on Twitter have real dollar consequences and he has recently shown he cares for his perspective not those of the investors/employees. On that note I do agree that the market is as a whole down and some of the blame needs to be pushed to factors out of elons control. He truly is a genius and works hard but he also has to understand that his responsibilities have grown drastically year over year and he needs to accept that what he says can make a difference as a leader, both for Tesla, SpaceX etc and also the market as a whole considering he is the world's wealthiest human being.

    • @karimkanfoudi6792
      @karimkanfoudi6792 ปีที่แล้ว

      I also agree with both points but the reality is, there are a lot of other companies to invest in. No one is forcing you to buy tesla stock. If you really think Elon has a negative effect on the company, you’ll be horrified to see what happens to the stock if he wasn’t there.
      The whole market is going though a massive correction. Tesla at the same time is the most traded stock of all time so there will be volatility naturally for a mega cap growth stock like this. This stock is not for the faint hearted. Tim Cook is a great CEO but he wouldn’t be able to build apple like Steve did. Tesla needs a Tim Cook once they’re past the growth phase and once Elon can no longer provide value to the company. He’s to critical right now and actually adds an immense amount of value to the company and stock today.

    I just had to get the blower fan replaced in my Model X for the second time. They made me pay a $200 diagnostic fee. The symptoms were exactly the same as the first time it failed and they did not charge the diagnostic fee then. The lady at the service desk told me the car is basically a computer and the diagnostic is necessary. Well the blower fan is an electrical mechanical device that clearly is not robust enough for the application. The diagnostic fee for this was total BS.

    Ryan, you are using the term "slam on the brakes" when talking about phantom braking. I don't think you should use this phrase because of its implications and the perceptions it can create. I've had several instances of phantom braking in my Model Y and I would describe each of them as "a sudden, unexpected slowdown for no reason". Each time it has been about a 5-10 mph decrease in speed. There's no doubt it is an uncomfortable feeling, but the car's brake has not been "slammed" to the floorboard, causing skidding of the tires and/or coming to a complete stop when experiencing phantom braking. I've even gotten to where I "cover the acceleration pedal" just in case, especially when traveling on an inclined surface approaching an overpass (seems to be a possible recognition pattern and cause for braking in that case). Interestingly, on my last 300-mile road trip, I had two instances where the phantom braking event was only about 10% of what it normally has been. Moreover, there were less frequent events overall, which tells me that Tesla is actually making improvements toward completely solving this crazy issue. I'd be interested to hear of others' phantom braking experiences... Thanks Ryan. I really appreciate your videos...

    • @mobiuscoreindustries
      @mobiuscoreindustries ปีที่แล้ว

      the reaction comes from Telsa's view of safety for the system, being that if the car even detects an unlikely threat to the user it should respond rather than assume itself to be wrong. This is likely due to analysis of previous experimental systems where the car assuming it was wrong caused accidents and at least one fatality (that I know of).
      long range accuracy in detection of any system is going to have its own issues. For cameras it is that at it's maximum range, shadows and objects can be hard to distinguish and place correctly where they are on the road. For example beta users with the increased visualization range were able to confirm that often on high speed two way roads, vision would often place large vehicles such as trucks closer into your lane than they actually were, usually because they eat into the middle line.
      obviously at low speeds this is not an issue as the car won't need to act immediately and will be able to let the vehicle come closer which improves the detection. But at high speeds the cost of indecision could be death, compared to the cost of a wrong decision being a somewhat annoying slowdown, an angry driver and a few hit peice articles.

    "2/3 of cars receive same-day service" implies mobile service. So ramping up both number and range of service possible (which might sometimes mean more techs on a singe call). This would reserve the Service Centers for the 1/3 that can't. I imagine building service centers at a 50% YoY growth rate is impossible.

  • @cesartrujillo4190

    Let’s not forget that the way the service center works is that you request service and based on current volume and statistics, the auto scheduler gives you a date slightly in the future instead of absolute first available. This is done as a triage measure. Until the point when Tesla service team members are just sitting around doing nothing, this is the best method. However, of course when you’re trying to schedule, it feels extremely frustrating at first blush. They should put a small caveat after the appointment time to remind you that based on availability, some appointments could get moved up.
    2/3 of cars saint day service no weight sounds absolutely bonkers. But let’s think about this a different way. I’ve said 1 million times that it would be great if your car manufacturer would install more up-to-date parts as improvements are rolled out. I can imagine someone spending $50,000 on a brand new vehicle and a few thousand dollars after only maybe six months to get a few parts refreshed, then, as time goes on more money for more refreshed parts. No one wants to have a car that requires parts to be replaced, fixed, or upgraded, but many people would enjoy having an option to continually keep their vehicle in the most modern version as possible. This is already one of the major selling points for Tesla because over the air updates keep the software looking and feeling fresh. As long as each individual parts that is upgraded has a higher profit margin than a new vehicle, tesla only wins. So Elon musk would be right to have lots of people available to do upgrades or normal service. Normal service and fixing a broken parts quickly, adds on measurable value to the brand. All upgrades can be pushed out a month or more and the customer will still be happy as can be. If Tesla were to focus on high failure rate parts, then they would possibly save even more money as people auto select to pay for a parts replacement that Tesla might have needed to replace for free under warranty.

    Just by paying attention I can predict a phantom breaking incident, using cruise in cities, cars making turns in front of you, and depending on your follow distance it will brake, and in cities with lots of trees the car can get confused with excessive changing shadows. On winding roads if the line's on a turn/hill combination disappear as far as the camera is concerned and an oncoming car then appears between what lines the car can see. IT WILL BRAKE.

    I’ve seen less phantom breaking with Tesla Vision. It does slam on the breaks on the highway when it reads a speed limit sign, regardless of the prevailing speed of traffic. Not a surprise if the road legal commercial version of the Cybertruck ends up using a Model Y platform with reinforced casting sub-frames, and stainless steel body panels. HI Ryan - to clarify: the term 'wheelbase' in the automobile realm describes the centerline distance between axles (frontmost to rearmost); the Cybertruck distance you note is the centerline distance between the outermost wheels on a given axle. For example, the '60's era Jaguar E-Type was offered in 2 seater and four seat models - to create the additional space for the 2nd row seat its wheelbase was extended several inches, while its track remained essentially identical. Love your programs, appreciate their focus and your perspective.

    Firing 10% of ADMINISTRATIVE staff is a minimum... most big companies like ALL government offices can do the job with less than 50% of the people there IF they are asked to actually work, but as anyone that has ever worked in one of these offices know, most people arrive to drink coffee for an hour or two, talk with colleagues, answer emails make family or friends' plans, go to the restroom and finally do one to three hours of "work"; leaving the most part for THE NEXT DAY, unless why have to hurry something because the boss really needs it and is on her ass to do it.
    Productivity has been going higher everywhere but not because of workers working, but because of much easier and better technology helping out. Of course if the computer or "system" breaks down, no one there knows how to fix it, nor are they trying to LEARN how to fix it, and that is another excuse for not working THAT whole day either.
    Price's Law and the Pareto Principle says that if this situation lasts too long all the actual workers and all the creative workers leave the company, leaving the charlatans that only pretend to know and take credit for their work and creativity, they are the one at the front of the line to take credit for someone else's ideas or work. Shameless. Like waitresses with a nice ass that don't take care of you during the whole meal, the only thing they do is take the order and bring the food, but as soon as you ask for the ticker they are all attention and smiles asking you if everything was fine, can I bring you anything else etc etc, knowing you ALREADY FINISHED the meal, and yes you WANTED another drink like halfway through your meal... and these are the ones most offended when you leave no tip, saying no one knows how hard their jobs are dealing with rude customers like YOU. Same in these offices, they want to look busy when the boss is there and bosses do not pay attention to what is really going on and who in fact does the work. So yes Elon, fire their asses, just pay attention to not let go the creative people. The real workers will not mind coming to the office to do the work.

    Bear in mind that Toyota's battery pack has a max temperature operating range of between -20c to +45c.
    So in Cold or Hot weather it might not operate ?

    OH GREAT CYBERTRUCK LEAKS!
    NOT!
    The truck should have already been released, not more leaks being released. It's been delayed a year. The Ford Lightning is more exciting frankly because it EXISTS!

    I think FSD in 2023 is optimistic. A unexpected even such as running over a safety cone will delay things. 2025 IMO

    As legacy automakers produce more reliable EV's than Tesla's, the demand should level out and hopefully give Tesla room to improve the quality of their cars.
