Us mammals usually only need one good parent. Mother Nature ain't stupid. There is even biochemistry going on after birth that helps mom bond with the babies. When the dad is helpful with the babies, it's a bonus for mom and babies but not a necessity for survival. Besides, Suki has human Mother's Helpers. It's birds that really need two active parents from conception, so mom and dad are busy before and after hatching. But it's ok for Shiro to just watch patiently from a distance until Suki can focus on him again.
