I agree. See lots of negative comments against tourist youtubers or expatriates who try to tell their experiences in africa. Quite often we Africans don't want any criticism at all. No country is perfect indeed but life is about where am more comfortable to live. It's a personal choice after weighing on things. WHAT I WOULD ADVICE EXPATS IS TO FIRST NOT ONLY RESEARCH ABOUT AFRICAN COUNTRIES BUT ALSO VISIT DIFFERENT COUNTRIES AND MAKE UP THEIR MIND. HAVE HEARD MANY EXPATS WHO WENT TO GHANA FIRST TIME AND SETTLED BUT HAVE NOT BEEN ANYWHERE IN AFRICA. LATER WHILE IN GHANA, THEY START VISITING OTHER AFRICAN COUNTRIES AND END UP RELOCATING AGAIN. SO MY ADVICE IS SEARCH AROUND SO U CHOOSE BETTER. ONE THING I MUST POINT OUT IS THAT ONLY TWO REGIONS IN AFRICA HAVE A HIGHER QUALITY OF LIFE:NORTH AFRICA ARAB STATES excluding Sudan AND SOUTHERN AFRICA:South Africa, mauritius, Seychelles, Namibia and Botswana. Am african currently studying outside but I have travelled africa. Its sometimes just little but important things that pulls u off. Constructive criticism builds.
Absolutely agree! I highly recommend expats experience different places and see which is best for them. You're right, many do settle in the first place they touch down in. Thank you very much for your detailed response, as always! Definitely pinning this comment to the top. 👍🏽
I can tell you that what Anton's is saying is true..Rwanda used to be a French speaking country then one day the president woke up and ordered everyone to switch to English because the president was brought up in An English speaking country..! and had some issues with France...!They all got confused ..! You can not change the education system just like that ..even now as I speak there are teachers in Rwanda who can not express themselves in English and yet they are supposed to teach in English ...!!

I am watching you for the first time. So far I agree with you. What I don’t agree with is since I’ve been looking at Rwanda, I’ve been seeing African Americans (not you so far) there and in other African countries telling the native Africans that we as Black Americans believe that Africans are dumb, that the children are starving, that the people are wild. It brings tears to my eyes. If we are to try and locate or even visit there, we are being set up for exactly what you have experienced there, a type of racism IMO. Also, the people that I have heard so far that are interviewed by Rwandans are speaking like they came there to save the country, or take it over. The country is already in a safe and beautiful place. They also speak about the “expat communities”. If we are to move there, we should be connecting as a people. What it looks to me is that they are separating just as the colonizers did. I just wish they would think before they speak. I seriously hope you understand my comment. I’m just saying that we need to be more humble and grateful in visiting and locating to Africa.
I agree with you. Your comment makes sense. I do think we need to try to blend and meld with the indigenous Africans when we get to the continent. Learning the language too. I do see why expat communities form, because it is easier to communicate with other Americans; however I do see your point. Thanks for commenting!
I agree. We need to stop thinking we are teaching anyone anything in africa because we are from America. Well...I have been tempted sometimes to tell someone how something could be done easier etc...I forget i am not in that position to do so. We are spoiled over here in the USA and just need to learn how to appreciate other people's culture and environment. I love Africa ❤
Great video Anton. You have the right to express your real experiences that you had in Rwanda. I am kind of glad you left us "classmates" can see more of Africa and its beautiful cultures. LOL. I feel your channel is about the truth about your wellness journey . This is what makes your channel stand out from others. Keep shining Anton!

I went back to see that "Leaving Rwanda" video to see what the fuss is about but I see you have blocked the comments. Most of the video seemed to be about the language barrier that prevented you and your business partner from getting yellow fever vaccinations and/or attending a university. You also mentioned the lack of certain creature comforts that you had become accustomed to. If I may comment, I would be reluctant to move to a country where I was clueless about the local language. I would make it my priority to learn at least some prior to arriving and then I would make it a point to take classes once I arrived. I speak English and German fluently and Spanish, Romanian, and Japanese on an upper intermediate level. I'm not trying to brag, just trying to show that someone with average intelligence can become proficient in foreign languages if they put their mind to it. I only learned Romanian because a Romanian once challenged me, asking me why Romanians had to speak German or English with me. I knew I would be seeing her again in a few months and decided to surprise her. I think she appreciated the effort!
The primary issue wasn't that they didn't speak English. The issue is we were lead to believe that they were an English speaking country, but that wasn't our experience when we got there. Multiple sources told us that Rwanda was English speaking, so the issue is the fact that the misleading left us unprepared. I learned Spanish and have studied French and Arabic, but there aren't many resources on Kinyarwanda for English speakers, unfortunately, as it is only spoken in a single, small African country. If I would have stayed in Rwanda, it's only natural that we would have learned Kinyarwanda. As I say frequently in all of my videos, one should learn a local language. I personally love learning new languages, but I wasn't alone, my life was tied to a business partner who was also interested in relocating.
I think coz he put this up 2yrs ago, things look different now than his experience 2yrs or more ago. I am American and have been to rwanda more than 4x... never struggled with the language. Lived at hotels where everyone spoke engish and only heard kinyarwanda when i travel to the village area. Even with that i will pull up google translate. I didnt think language was an issue for me.....i could find other factors maybe like realtors and real estate being on high end, than what i initially would imagine. Oh well....i make money in any language...lol😂
Wel said bro it's your own experience and views we can't dispute that .The good thing is that you're still in the mother land enjoy your new found experience
Hello! Anton. Thank you 🙏🏽 for sharing! Your experiences assists individuals {inclusive of those in the rest of Africa} to decide on which Nations we would like to visit and/or relocate to. "Constructive criticism is good!" 👍🏽 Continue to honestly express your experiences {with no fear or favor} so that we are able to also make positive decisions - as we go along. Do not allow anyone to - {as the saying goes} - "sit on your 🗣️ head"! 😁
@@AntonsClass Be strong...Stay strong! 💪🏾 😊 Experiences can and do turn out to be similar. Perhaps not in application to Rwanda's, but in some other parts of the world I've visited! Hence I can fully emphasize, with you!
I am an African born and raised partly in Africa, but I have learnt a lot from your videos. Don’t worry about the negatives, your experience helped a lot of people including myself who has been living in North America for more than two decades. Keep up the good work.
Dude, I saw your video with the reasons why you left Rwanda, so I’m not here to bash you. However, I will say that it’s not just in Rwanda that people stare …it’s any country, where they are not accustomed to having tourist! Most of these countries have just started to open up and they’re not accustomed to people who look different from them so they’re not necessarily staring because something is bad they just do because they’re not used to seeing foreigners in their country! I lived all over Latin America, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, my wife’s from the Philippines, the Filipinos over there still stare at me when I come there! Same thing in Latin America they stare at you because you look different, and the majority of the people who live there look like them so they’re not accustomed to being around people who don’t look like them! It’s not all bad sometimes they wanna say something but they don’t understand the language, and they are not trained in the way of Western etiquette so they don’t know it’s rude to stare because that is a western thing not so much in their country…So, if you are bothered by them, staring at you, that’s your own insecurity because you need to study these countries before you go it sounds like it more you than about them! If you are going to continue to travel different countries and you don’t want to be stared at you might want to look at countries where they are accustomed to having western foreigners who visit their country!🙏🤦♂️🤷♂️
Why was this even an issue? We have adults among us that are actually children? If I go to NYC or Montreal or Bali or Accra or Nairobi and post about it, then I'm going to post the pros and cons. Of course! That is called HONESTY.
Both Rwanda and Namibia were German colonies, but took different trajectories. I am Namibian and we know that our country is quite different to most other African countries, except South Africa (as we were occupied by it for 75 years).
*I saw the Rwanda video... & it was great...!!!* *... I appreciated it for being very thoughtful, insightful, & informative...* *... Have no idea why anyone would have a problem with that...!!!* 👍
Some people are to damn sensitive...especally in Africa!!! I have noticed this...everytime somebody who isn't from Africa tell their story..Africans find issues with negativity...we all know that Africa isn't perfect and has a lot of issues...more than you can imagine...We have problems in America but we don't sugarcoat it...we speak the truth...it is what it is...fix the problem then people wouldn't have to complain
Anton's Class, it's perfectly understandable to leave one country and relocate to another and still talk about it. I left my country a long time ago and settled down where I am and I don't feel I owe anybody an explanation. So yes, it's okay what you have done.
I don't see the big deal with you leaving Rwanda. I wonder if you will get the same backlash if you leave Namibia too. Lol all that is noise man. I'm glad you shared it all. The good, the bad and the ugly.
Brotha, just say why you left. This is my first visit to your channel. You kept me in suspense for 15 minutes. And I still don’t know why you left. Wow!
THANK YOU FOR BEING HONEST. I always see these annoying pros videos from expats. I know it's not always perfect as these videos project. I know that expats are afraid to to speak there truth because of Africans stupid criticism of truth. I want to the know the cons so I can have an accurate world view.
Thank you! I really appreciate you validating my experience and my video. I'm glad you got something out of it. And you're right. A lot of expats fall into the habit of only showing pros.
You have every right express yourself experience.I have traveled extensively and I did not enjoy Paris at all. I did unlike most find the people friendly and helpful.if you offended by what someone says don’t worry nothing will happen you,you will live.our likes differ in everything from food to sports teams to everything.people should show the same respect you showed.
In every countries that people visit, they have different experiences, and you have a right to chose whichever country you feel comfortable, but I listened to your video on why you left Rwanda, and the issues you mentioned, to be honest, I don't see them as anything major, but that's your experience and you have the right to feel that way about it, my take on the video is, first about the language, every African country speak more than one languages and if you did the research, you should have known that their first language is not english and they are promoting the language because they want to add english as one of the language spoken in the country, many countries have been doing so, including China, then you said people starring at you was also a issue, but did they look threatening when they did so? and you also mentioned your experience going to get a vaccine and what happened, why would you want to go to a place where according to you has only one building and a shack, especially since you are not a local, why didn't you go to a place in the city? and the part of the video where you mentioned a friend relating his/her experience at the college, you weren't there, so you cannot present what that friend said as factual, that to me, that shows bias, what I took away from this video is, people should be open- minded. especially when they are visiting different countries with different cultures, because if you expectations are not met, I am sure you will be putting out other videos on why you left other countries in Africa including Namibia.
You opened your statement with suggesting my choices & experiences are valid, then proceeded to suggest otherwise by attempting to delegitimize all of my experiences. Is this your attempt at gaslighting, or what? What you fail to realize is, no amount of research can totally prepare you for an experience. You compared Rwanda to China, but nowhere does China advertise itself as an English speaking country, so very poor comparison, buddy. Other African countries, like Namibia, speak many languages, and English is spoken totally fluently here. Rwanda just doesn't measure up for me - that's my opinion and I'm entitled to it. Also, your criticism of every action I mentioned, as if you were there with me living these experiences, is ignorant, for it's always easy to criticize someone else's actions when you weren't there. Share a story of one of your bad experiences in life, and I can pull it apart and tell you everything you did wrong, even if you tell me otherwise. Lastly, Namibia is beautiful and I love it! Meets all my expectations because nobody mislead me about Namibia, unlike Rwanda. Africa is an entire continent! Don't assume I'd have the same experience in Namibia that I'd have in Rwanda. You sound offended that I left Rwanda for some reason. Don't take it personal when someone shares their experiences, dude; it ain't even about you! Lol P.S. I had many other stories of language issues in Rwanda, but I don't have the time or desire to recant all to you. Even if I did, you'd shoot them down and make some tired excuse.
@@AntonsClass I am not from Rwanda, never been to Africa, but I know that english is not their first language, so I don't understand what you said that no amount of research could prepare you for that and I stand by what I say about China, and also in Namibia there are tribes that I am sure are not fluent in english, if you are happy in Namibia stay there, but I hope you won't be making a video about your discontent there either, because it seems to be a thing with some black americans that moved to Africa, in the beginning everything is wonderful, then later there are all these problems, and I am a woman.
@@dawnb.1127 You've literally never been to Africa, yet think you can delegitimize my experiences there? I'm done 😆😂😆😂😆! I've seen it all now. That says it all right there. Have a good day.
@@AntonsClass It alright with me too, and even thou I have never been to Africa, I am a student of history, and when I speak to Africans who are now living in the same country that I am, they are often surprised at how much I know about Africa, my interest in Africa didn't begin with covid, and I am not delegitimizing your African experiences, but as usual some of you always get offended when legitimate questions are posed to you, still I wish you all the best in your sojourn in Africa.
@@dawnb.1127 You weren't asking legitimate questions, you were attempting to delegitimize my experiences. And reading about Africa isn't the same as living there. I have spent my entire life loving and absorbing knowledge about Africa, but that isn't the same as living IN Africa. Anyway, have a blessed day.
Botswana and Zimbabwe are more secure than Rwanda so I can’t say anything about security maybe people from unsafe countries can comment on that. The good parts in Rwanda was the cheap and fast internet. Riding the Boda Boda, organised transport system and the beauty of the city . . It’s a good country to visit. Problem is that it’s not for middle income or poor people.
I'm black British of Caribbean origin and I have to say that your video mirrored my experience of Rwanda when I visited in the summer. On the whole Rwandans are warm and helpful people and the place is simply beautiful with good infrastructure. However I did notice the following things which could be better: 1. Some instances of poor customer service, rudeness and sometimes unfriendlyness. (I'm not gonna mention everything that happened). 2. Assuming that black travellers are Nigerian and having a negative disposition towards people that look different to the locals. 3. English isn't as prevalent as I was led to believe prior to visiting. Which I don't have a problem with, but there were occasions where people would pretend they understood English just so they could have your custom or just coz they didn't want to say they couldn't. This had lead to disagreements or just general confusion 4. The food in restaurants was generally not very good and it could be difficult to find somewhere to eat (not in all places though) 5. Lack of available goods and services, for example, very little to buy in supermarkets, shelves empty etc and imported snacks/foods sometimes tasted off or were past their sell by date I give all of this feedback coz what Rwanda do well, they do really well and there are more positives than negatives. I would definitely go back but those were some of what stood out in my mind
Lol people wanna make decisions for someone else, at the end of the day if you still in Africa then that's good. People leave LA for Atlanta all the time and vice versa.
Thank brother. I am from east Africa, we love good criticism!!!.all I need. is un Id or birth certificate to cross all of my loverd east Africa!!!. Just like the masaaic
With all due respect I take a look at the commenter before I listen to the comments a person's character will tell you everything that you need to know. And I take nothing that he says at face value based on his previous videos
Bruh, only idiots will be mad at you for leaving Rwanda, africa has 56 countries, you can go to any of these countries and find one that suits you better
But saying you felt uncomfortable in Rwanda while you’re Black American is wild You know damn well you’re more comfortable and more secure in Rwanda than America!
@@AntonsClass agree with you. It has Good governance and one of the few most organised countries in africa. From inception, the Rwanda Investment and development board was headed by a Singaporean as technical adviser. I think he just left few years AGO or still there up now. However, I think the person is referring to HUMAN DEVELOPMENT INDEX and GDP PER CAPITA. GDP PER CAPITA OF RWANDA IS AROUND 800 USD PER PERSON. OF COURSE ITS NOT IN TOP 10 on these two pillars but it IS AHEAD IN AREA OF good governance and ease of doing business.
@@AntonsClass I bumped into an opinion by Goblack2africa Rwanda titled "Our heartfelt opinion about Rwanda" 7months ago. Listen to it and it confirms the STARING STEREOTYPE THEY ENCOUNTERED IN RWANDA. clearly they were not comfortable with it. Its a corroboration of Yr experience although they were there in December or January.
Do your research before you visit any country, either Western, Eastern Southern Northern Africa and also don't isolate yourself from the Diaspora there
p e leeeeese. Go and watch your video, it is not what you are now pretending it to be. Are all the people who expressed their "..PERSOAL..OPENION". as you say wrong. Be brave and try to fix what you said starting by admitting that you came with an expectation that was not based on getting the right information, and you did some obvious mistakes that led to you ending up in weird places. Rwanda like any other country is not perfect but it is not what you were saying.
What I can confirm here is the starring part. It is very common in that part of Africa to star at people to the point you feel that they are trying to take your panties down without touching you. English language…. please be aware that this country was a Belgian colony, and that English was not introduced there until after the 1994 genocide. So do enough research before expecting Rwandans to be fluent in English! Good luck in Namibia and hope you don’t reverse your praises in the coming weeks about it again.
I was well aware of Rwanda's past colonization. However, as stated in the videos, I was informed by multiple sources on the ground in Rwanda that I would have no issues using English in Rwanda; that was not the case for me. And Namibia is absolutely beautiful! No complaints and it is a very livable country.

I just love you, your work, everything, sending love from Rwanda
I really appreciate it!
Thank you, Anton, for sharing your eye-opening experience in Rwanda.
Thank you for being here! You're most welcome.
Wel said bro it's your own experience and views we can't dispute that .The good thing is that you're still in the mother land enjoy your new found experience
Thank you very much.
Well done and greatly appreciated.
Excellence and honesty.
Truly appreciate that! 🙏🏽
Hello! Anton.
Thank you 🙏🏽 for sharing! Your experiences assists individuals {inclusive of those in the rest of Africa} to decide on which Nations we would like to visit and/or relocate to.
"Constructive criticism is good!" 👍🏽
Continue to honestly express your experiences {with no fear or favor} so that we are able to also make positive decisions - as we go along.

Thank you much for sharing your supportive words! They are truly appreciated. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

I am an African born and raised partly in Africa, but I have learnt a lot from your videos. Don’t worry about the negatives, your experience helped a lot of people including myself who has been living in North America for more than two decades. Keep up the good work.
I would be good to hear from your Nigerian friend. Great content and keep keeping it real !
I'll see if I can get him onboard to make a Collab 👍🏽 thank you for your support!
I think the Caribbean can also be a good fit for expats. Africa is beautiful but I prefer being closer to family.
Yeah, I think I might explore the Caribbean. It's much closer to the US; those long, expensive flights to Africa are no joke!!
@@AntonsClass I just left Cayman it was great. Happy travels to you!
@@Beautybizz28 that's awesome! I think I'll check out the Caribbean ASAP 👍🏽. Safe travels to you!
I disagree. Nobody stares at me in Namibia, Mexico, Canada, South Africa, Germany or Ethiopia. Just in Rwanda!
I thought Rwanda was colonized by Belgium.
Both Germany and Belgium even france but Belgium came after the defeat of Germany in world war
I am Rwandan and I don't see anything offensive. I just saw constructive criticism and what you went through. Keep it up!!
*I saw the Rwanda video... & it was great...!!!*
*... I appreciated it for being very thoughtful, insightful, & informative...*
*... Have no idea why anyone would have a problem with that...!!!* 👍
Thank you! I appreciate your support. 🙏🏽
Absolutely agree!
You are correct brother is your experience not theirs
Thank you, brother!
Anton's Class, it's perfectly understandable to leave one country and relocate to another and still talk about it. I left my country a long time ago and settled down where I am and I don't feel I owe anybody an explanation. So yes, it's okay what you have done.
Thank you for sharing, Robert. I appreciate what you said. Have a great day!
For sure mate you'r words is great and I like you'r opinin you smart you give a real image
Thank you! I appreciate it.
Your TH-cam video is great! Thanks for the feedback because I am here also in Rwanda. You can't pretend that everything is roses...anywhere.
Thank you for your kind words! You are appreciated 🙏🏽 thanks for understanding
I don't see the big deal with you leaving Rwanda. I wonder if you will get the same backlash if you leave Namibia too. Lol all that is noise man. I'm glad you shared it all. The good, the bad and the ugly.
I appreciate it! And I agree totally!
Thank you for your insight on the different countries . I really appreciate what you're doing . Never mind the naysayers. Keep up the good work.
Thank you for your input! It is much appreciated. 🙏🏽
Brotha, just say why you left. This is my first visit to your channel. You kept me in suspense for 15 minutes. And I still don’t know why you left. Wow!
It was my first time too, couldn't finish the video. How do you not recognise people in handcuffs?
It's on another video. Lol
You're right! Thanks for sharing your input
En Rwandans leave Rwanda to be located where they feel comfortable so you did well to leave Rwanda though I like Rwanda very much
Good point. Thank you for your input! 🙏🏽
Lol
Brother its no issue, Africa is your oyster. Live in any country just like you can live in any city in the U.S.
Thank you! I appreciate it
I'm black British of Caribbean origin and I have to say that your video mirrored my experience of Rwanda when I visited in the summer. On the whole Rwandans are warm and helpful people and the place is simply beautiful with good infrastructure. However I did notice the following things which could be better:
This had lead to disagreements or just general confusion
4. The food in restaurants was generally not very good and it could be difficult to find somewhere to eat (not in all places though)
5. Lack of available goods and services, for example, very little to buy in supermarkets, shelves empty etc and imported snacks/foods sometimes tasted off or were past their sell by date
I give all of this feedback coz what Rwanda do well, they do really well and there are more positives than negatives. I would definitely go back but those were some of what stood out in my mind
Love the intro 🤣🤣🤣
Yay! 😂 I'm glad you liked it.
Maybe these TH-camrs descend on your “reasons why I left” type of videos because you’re messing with their money!?
Bingo! I think that's it!
Glad, you went back to mama Africa!!
Well said .
I don't understand why they use music when they talking to us...
If you are talking dont use music...
Thank you Anton, appreciate your honesty
Lol people wanna make decisions for someone else, at the end of the day if you still in Africa then that's good. People leave LA for Atlanta all the time and vice versa.

Bruh, only idiots will be mad at you for leaving Rwanda, africa has 56 countries, you can go to any of these countries and find one that suits you better
I agree. Thank you! There are tons of countries to explore in Africa. Rwanda is awesome, but I just wanted to see what else was out there.
But saying you felt uncomfortable in Rwanda while you’re Black American is wild
You know damn well you’re more comfortable and more secure in Rwanda than America!

you gotta update your intro, it says "welcome to rawanda, but now youre in Namibia Lol

I’m sorry but Rwanda is not even in the top 10 of great African countries.
Based on what? Your statement makes no sense
Hmm, well I personally would include it in my top 10, but I respect your experience and opinion.
Yes I hear you. Thank you for clarifying for him. I appreciate you!
😂😂😂😂
What are you talking about? This video was a waste of time.
Glad you liked it.
