Looking back at this from the perspective of the rest of the saga, I think it's great to see the contrast between Egil's family conflict at this stage of the saga with his family relationships later on, for example his emotions about his brother's death in the next section. It's one way in which his character matures. Yes I would love to go to Iceland and try to map key saga events there!

Great commentary. I've just finished this week's reading and the brutality just keeps coming. Egil really isn't a very nice main character at all!
