"Hey, ladybug, how does it look?" You waited for a response until you remembered insects cant speak. You held the bug in your hand and went over to the mirror to admire your new haircut. It was short, and the fringe covered your face.
"Well, I love it! I look more masculine now." You say to yourself. You walk downstairs to grab your skateboard to meet your friends.
"WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO YOUR HAIR?!" You hear your mum shout from the kitchen, "I THOUGHT WE TALKED ABOUT THIS TRANSGENDER SHIT!"
"Well..mum..I-I can explain.." You mumble, and out the corner of your eye, you spot your best friend, spider climbing up the wall.
"YEAH, YOU'D BETTER!" She shouts louder than the first time. You watch the spider as it makes a web.
"Ew! a spider, Im going to get your father to get rid of it! We'll talk about this later." She ran out the room, looking for your father.
He enters with a broom and you watch with horror as you see your best friend being killed.
"Look what she's done with her beautiful hair!" Your mum exclaims with fury.
"Well, It looks terrible. Just as bad as that fucking spider I killed." Your dad turns away and walks out the room.
"Boys will be bugs..." You whisper to yourself before opening the front door.

I really want to do a POV on one of my personal experience doing sports in gendered groups. The sport is Sprint Kayak, but I won't tell you the club name or anything specific.
I arrived on Monday, the start of the week, a new summer. I was finally living as myself; as close to myself as I could be. This was the place, I took a deep breath in, all of the horrible memories flooding back from last summer here at camp. "Hi *deadname*!" "Oh! It's *deadname*. 'She's' back'." I blurred it out of my head, walking to the meeting area of my group, which was the 'girls' group. It was very gendered and everything had a specific gender to it, I felt dysphoric going there; it sucked. I skipped the year-round for about 3 months before the summer, deciding to come back and explain then. Only one person knew about 'it', a friend that I had been messaging. I told her I was non-binary, my new pronouns and all the detail. She was away though, so what could've happened? Later, a coach walked over, as I was sitting down, hugging my knees. She asked, "Can we talk alone?" I was scared. I held my breath until me and her stepped over onto a deck and looked over the ledge. I was too anxious to speak, obviously she got that and opened her mouth first, saying this. "A certain friend spoke to me about you being non-binary and having trouble in the gendered groups we have." I said, "Yeah.. I guess so." The coach continued once more "Is there anything I can do to make you feel more comfortable? We can put you in racing with the boys, but with the girls, you'd have a better chance of winning." She winked, my voice trailing on, "Mhm, I think I'd like to race with the girls, since I do have a better chance of winning, is that alright?" The coach nodded as we both parted ways, me walking over to my groups meeting spot. Group attendance rolled around, and my deadname appeared. Once attendance was done, I was scared but I walked over to where the coaches calling out the names were sitting and said, "Uh.. Can I go by something different? I'm sure you know why, maybe..?" I stuttered, the coaches turning their heads to me and saying/nodding yes. I asked "Is it alright if I go by the name Vee? It is spelt V-e-e, and is pronounced pretty much like the letter V." They scribbled over my deadname on the attendance chart and added the new name in their cursive printing, and asked my pronouns, then printed them on the side of my new name, to remember using them.
Complete euphoria flooded through my brain as I then smiled and walked away, continuing the day with my deadname and she/her locked up for nobody to speak.
