    The weird mold growing behind the shaker table might be a clue why that room is painted. It is probably a zinc or copper based paint to stop the mold growth in there. I have seen other mines where the equipment rooms were painted with anti fungal paint. That must have been extremely loud to have a ball mill running inside a mine. Those were the smallest balls I've ever seen.

      Good thinking Duck! And you’re right, that would have been crazy intense to hear it running in there. Ya, those balls were the smallest we’ve seen too. Thanks for commenting and watching this one:) Cheers n take care.

    Pretty cool. They painted the walls white to help with lighting. It doesn't look like they ran any kind of lighting into the mine. The material under those tarps is probably bulk samples or actual pay material. Nice and spacious in there thou. As always stay safe and stay strong out there

      Thank you for your comment:) A few ppl mentioned that and you’re likely all correct, it makes sense :) Because this one was in operation in the eighties, I’m sure they did because of safety standards, but it does appear it was all removed. Thank you for watching, commenting and your continued support, we appreciate it!! Cheers and stay well :)

    I did some panning from some sample bags found in a side shaft in that mine. It was 15 years ago and the entrance was back filled with tailings. Just a small hole to crall threw at the top. The panning showed no gold but lots of iron pyrite.

      We’d like to learn more about panning, we’ve tried, but there’s definitely a technique and we don’t have it yet lol

    Yep. The company name is mosaic. They have shut down entry to the woods all over the place. . Cameras in the woods. No camping allowed. Preferred treatment for some while others don't get a gate key. Tearing down cabins. They actually shut access to part of nanaimo River above the old race track by the airport in Cassidy. Gave control to the natives and we know how well that works out. Again. Some people get a key for the gate while others are considered trespassers if found up there. Just sickening.

    • @AdventuresRUs
      @AdventuresRUs  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We read that they allow access to some areas for camping etc on certain weekends and post them on their website. Definitely disappointing to see how much land they are logging and have ownerships of. Makes exploring the backcountry on the island difficult.

      Yes. Mosaic should fuck off to Fuckoffville. They have virtually locked everyone out the forests of Southern Vancouver Island. Thanks Gordie Campbell and the Liberal government for your illegal sale of the southern tree farm licenses to a global entity.

    Awesome place guys👍 enjoyed the explore, used to paint for mines, and white was often used for vehicles and equipment for visibility, those piles separated and marked off must have been samples, and very possible pay dirt, that took lots of work to pay, compared to other samples, but just a theory and that vent pipe was super sketchy 😯 Kool stuff

    Hi Adam & Chyanne, I wonder if they painted those rocks white behind the ball mill because because it would help deflect the heat ???.
    Just thought I would tell you in case you didn't know, the small streaks of the vein are called "Stringer's". I think the stripes you saw are called "Banding".
    I really don't blame you as being stuck on that mountain at this time of year could be life threatening.
    Thank you for sharing, I hope you both got out safely, much love to you both. xx ❤

      Hello Sue!! Thank for stopping by:) Ok, that one we haven’t heard yet, but you indeed could be correct. Until someone who worked there comments, we’re rolling with all kinds of possibilities! Stingers, check and banding, banding actually does sound familiar, now to add it to the vocabulary and to remember it lol We did get out safely, but we got our first trespassing warning lol. The logging company left an official written warning on our vehicle, but it said we could come on weekends, so our next visit will be on the weekend lol. Cheers and stay well ❤️

    18:35 is not just some muck, this is ore from different areas as painted on the blue tarp, same the other with remuck painted on the ribs. Any guesses as to why there is the mini-ball mill and the shaker table that you passed by coming in? To do bulk sampling for sulphides and free milling gold, the best way to test the ore body or bodies for economic feasibility. This work was done under an option to Westmin Resources in an attempt to hype their stock.

    • @AdventuresRUs
      @AdventuresRUs  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Adam mentioned in the video they were probably saving it for testing w the locations on the tarps. We didn’t know they were trying to hype it up though. Thanks for your comment.

Gortex boots, we’ve heard of them, but haven’t likely seen much in our price point lol Do they dry well after being wet? They’re comfortable? We’ll have to google the brand and see what comes up :)

      @@AdventuresRUs I have used Gortex products for many years both in work and play. Spent many years in search and rescue so having gear that would keep you dry while working hard in miserable condition was essential. It dries fairly quickly because it breathes. It's a bit more expensive but it is worth the investment in keeping dry.

    PNSN shows a tremor map of Cascadia. There is much action on the island right now. You heard a grumble from earth moving. That you two went in is fool hardy to me. It's a lot of basalt rock there. That's a volcano.

    How did you get there? We tried yesterday and while the main gate was open off the highway (open on weekends), near the mine there was a big yellow gate that was locked. We checked Mosiac and it just says "locked" without any explanation. Was this gate locked when you went ?

    • @AdventuresRUs
      @AdventuresRUs  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was closed and we had to walk in because there was like five feet of snow.. but I did read before we went to check the gate because it’s often just closed, not locked.

    Given the dimensions of the roadway, I would think that during blowing down the rock copious amounts of dust would be generated, so the ventilation system might have been based on extraction rather than forced, that is a centrifugal fan is set to 'suck out' rather than 'blow in' mode

    • @AdventuresRUs
      @AdventuresRUs  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Rea for your input! We learn something new, we appreciate it! :)

    • @lotharschiese8559
      @lotharschiese8559 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      When your running trackless equipment, you want the ventilation to come to the face to blow the exhaust outside. All muck, the ribs and back gets washed downed after each round has been blasted, then scaled for loose and then mucked out. Then scaling is done again starting back ~ 6 rounds from the face, so the work area is totally safe for the driller on the Jumbo to drill his next round!
