I recently considered buying a screen with frame to finally repair it, but you showed how simple it is to reinstall the display only and even save time on disassembling the whole thing. Thanks!

I have a slightly strange probably convoluted question for you, probably skip to last paragraph if that's easier. But you're an Aussie with probably more experience than me in these things. Anyway I have both a mi 9t pro 256/8gb and a Redmi k20 pro premium (so called) which is the one and only 512/8gb model of Redmi/Xiaomi mi 9t/k20. The mi 9t pro had some bad luck quite the while ago and essentially the screen ended up dying. Waited months for the replacement to get in, didn't happen. Yet I needed a phone so I got this Redmi model which I was very much happy with because it's essentially the same phone. Except for one crucial yet unnecessary thing... Netflix doesn't like the Redmi at all for some particular chipset differences. And on to the question: in your experience could the storage be transferred independently (presumably with either a hot air gun/de-solder station and all the patience in the world as to not damage anything) and still function? I know Android as an OS would likely just detect it as a larger storage. And this is under the assumption that the 'premium' board and storage module/s are the same physically. I have yet determined that so I may be shit out of luck. But that's to be observed in a few days on my weekend.
Also thanks for the guide, I would have probably used it to replace my front panel, had I not destroyed the screen the day after ordering the panel that is. And wish me luck, it'll likely just be me supplanting the internals of the mi9t pro into the new frame/display/back panel and calling it after peaking into the Redmi and finding out it has a specially made storage module or something. Oh and FYI for anyone else wondering about parts. Don't get them on eBay. I now personally know that at least one of the sellers that sell replacement parts for the Xiaomi/Redmi is just flat out scamming and it'll never get to you. This'll be the only time I'll ever say it but just go straight to AliExpress for your grade B chinesium. It took 2 weeks.. not 4 months of waiting for nothing. And it cost much less.
short answer, the IC containing the storage cannot be swapped between different models of phones. It might be possible for example: mi9t swap storage ic to another mi9t but not cross models
Hey mate where did you buy your screen from, can you recommend me an official site where I can get a genuine amoled screen from, I had mine replaced but it's much slower and laggy now for some reason and the touch response is bad maybe I got sold a cheap screen.
