KCAL News reporter Tina Patel is exploring Victorville, a town along the historic Route 66! She is at a famous dining spot called Emma Jean’s Holland Burger Café that has been feeding residents for nearly 70 years.
There is absolutely nothing to do in Victorville. It has a high unemployment rate. Homelessness is a major problem. Victorville has become a little Los Angeles, it has all of the problems of a big city crammed into a small town. Although, Apollo's restaurant is a good place to eat.
The food here is good, Outpost cafe is good. Good homes. A bit of crime. I sort of grew up here and there has been more mentally ill homeless than before. Wish there were more places to shop but, it's alright if you just care about normal stuff to buy.
I hope Victorville hasnt gone the way of Barstow. I passed thru last year and there were mentally ill homeless all over, I had to walk by one of them screaming and yelling while I went to get my breakfast. Homeless sitting around in front of shopping centers. It was never like this when I was younger. No matter where you go, always mentally ill homeless everywhere.
Bro I live in Barstow and I can tell you all cities have that. I grew up in Pomona and then 10 yrs in Victorville now just moved to Barstow and yeah few homeless but not like LA or San Bernardino, no way.
Depends on what section you live in! There are run-down areas in every city/town in the US leading to crime! I thank God for our terrific law enforcement here in the high desert!😊
Stop! You can get robbed in broad daylight at Winco, shot at the mall, or run off the road by reckless driver. They are really saying LA is too crowded and crowded Victorville isn't crowded enough. No thanks. She probably is honest about that diner though.
Locals call it Victim'ville, but there are a few gems. Apollo Burgers priced right for high quality food is my favorite. Steer n Stein is good too.
