They creat world record against pakistan of winning consecutive 14 matches in a row from 1994 - 2000 .. Yes pak struggle against SA those days and reason was SA top class bowling and fielding
@@Sangakkara1 nope i dont thnk SA top class bowling its more than that unknown pressure while playing against SA by Pakistan....because there were weaker teams than pak who played better than pak agianst SA like Sri lanka

M. Sami was a great bowler. Idk how he could not progress as a top international bowler in his era. He had speed and skills and accuracy
Didn't really move the ball that much. Relied too much on pace. Needed to have more variations in movement and speed!

In cricket a player is really regarded as a great based on what he achieved at international level. Therefore Sami can't be a great if he failed to progress at the highest level
M sami just had pace not control neither skills. He is an ordinary bowler.

It was around this time, actually probably a couple of months earlier that Pakistan started going into real decline as a team (it actually started a couple of years earlier but this is when it became evident).
This was Autumn 2002 just a few months before the 2003 World Cup.
They looked a tired and deflated team, especially Wasim and Waqar (despite still being able to bowl a good spell but way past their best).
They seemed subdued and poor, especially against Aus and SA from Sept - Dec 2002.
I remember some pundits and others felt Pakistan would bounce back and, while not win, but would do well at the world cup and get to this semis because Wasim and Waqar were near retiring and wanted to end on a high. If anything, this was a sign of the impending disaster.
While I respect Wasim and Waqar and what they did for Pakistan cricket their feud (as well as other players infighting, the hapless PCB and match fixing) did do a lot of harm to Pakistan cricket.
It was sad but also somewhat pathetic watching this (I'd stopped supporting Pakistan back in 1999 after the match fixing).
However, no one expected South Africa to crash out of the world cup in the first round.
I remember thinking the commentary for this series was poor and amateurish. I still do.
