ℹ️ About the Episode: The Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) is a section of California State Route 1 (SR 1) that runs for 790 miles along the Pacific Ocean from San Diego to the Oregon border. If you're looking for stunning views, this may be the ultimate RV road trip. In this series, we'll be traveling from Flagstaff, AZ, to Newport, CA (Laguna Beach). Along the way, we'll hit some California bucket list destinations, including San Luis Obispo (SLO), Big Sur, Carmel, and Lake Tahoe before heading into Oregon. Next week, we leave Newport and travel inland to Tehachapi, CA, to go gliding. There is a campground right off the runway and we thought this would make a fun episode. Then we travel back to the coast to SLO and reach out to one of the owners of Pisoni Family Vineyards (who we met in Alabama) for a tour of their beautiful vineyard in the mountains of Big Sur. Speaking of Big Sur, we were lucky enough to score a cancellation at Pfeiffer State Park.

Dear Marc & Tricia. My youngest daughter (24 yoa) was watching this episode with me. She recently ended an unhealthy relationship with her boyfriend and is temporarily living at home again. She made the comment that she loves the way you two talk to each other. Thank you for modeling what a healthy and loving relationship looks like.
I agree. It's so healthy to see the love and respect these two show for one another. They are role models.
So glad that she got out. Set your goals high because you are worth it.
2 Golden Retrievers! Love them. So cute
KYD is a genuine family show, kudos to Mark and Trish.
Thank goodness she recognized it…you must be so relieved!
Veterinarian here....as someone else posted, get a dog ramp for the truck (or boost Charlie's butt in)...you've got a breed that is somewhat of a poster child for hip/knee issues...love me some Golden Retriever!
I have a 6" lifted truck and we take our German Shepherd and Black Lab wanna-be camping with us all the time. The don't like the ramp, so I just pick them up and load them, even though they can jump in (via the floor board) if they think about it. They're getting up there in age (9 years old) so it's best to just pick them up and load them and unload them. On the other hand, my oldest daughter and family have a German Short Haired Pointer that's about a year old. She's in before you can turn around to pick her up. That dog can stand flat footed and jump in the seat of my truck with ease. What an athlete!😳
If you two could keep this up for the next 10-15 yrs it’d be much appreciated! 😊
*15-40
😉
Put a 90-degree elbow on the hose at the city water inlet. Hose hanging straight down removes the stress of the hose full of water hanging straight out from the inlet.
Yes, with the 90. I also use a water regulator at the spigot to drop the pressure to are 40-45 psi. We had that same problem. California campgrounds seem to have high water pressure. Haven’t had a problem since.
Came to the comments to say the same thing!
I'm writing to you about your dogs. One dog has a hurt left paw, he's holding it up in back seat. Both dogs need a step up into the truck like a folding aluminum platform. What I've noticed in many dogs and my own was that the normal steps and hop ups hurts their spine just forward of their back legs. It's best to keep the steps shallow or ramped. Just sharing some inside on my own observations. Great show. I wish you all well. ❤
I agree, poor Charlie tje amounts of time that he has leaped up on that truck..maaan its brutalmon his bones..cmoon Mark buy a ramp u gatchet freak 😅
I noticed the one dog holding up its paw too. Maybe an injured paw. Also looked like maybe a little car (truck) sick action going on.
"Outdoor Barbie" ......yep, another favorite!!
My wife and I were just commenting that we have been seeing 'Trish the Dish' for quite a while and wondering if 'The Dish' had vetoed further editions. 😂
Exactly 😂😂
Just waiting for the flannel 😂😂
Makes me think of the changing cash register display on the Simpsons when Maggie got scanned. 😃
You guys are a dream team. Easy going, respectful, and genuine! Rare in today’s crazy world! Thanks for what you do and taking us along! 👍
Put a 90 degree angled connector on the hose. It will put less pressure on the water inlet.
I agree. My zero g hose didn't put hardly any pressure on the city inlet. Of course, when I switch to a metal one, it won't mater.
Having 2 pups is the best! Those 2 are adorable and such good doggos. ❤
This is why I say to my wife, don't be jealous of the more expensive trailers, same parts break down at same time as the cheaper ones. love the view on that site wow
Dogs looking out the door... priceless
Thank you for showcasing California. We get a bad rap for understandable reasons, but it's beautiful.
For understandable reasons?LOL (I get it)
When people give us a bad time for being from California I just tell them I’m from the UNITED states. 😂😂
I have been watching you guys since the beginning on two different iPads and can confidently say you are a class act! Thanks for what you do!
I am so happy to see you are staying at an Elks Lodge! My husband has been an Elk for almost 40 years and was just a DDGER. We are happy to say that most stays go to the National Foundation which sponsors Cerebral palsy. Happy and SAFE travels!!!!
I have just recently found KYD and I LOVE you guys! I am keeping up with current videos and in between, I am watching the beginning VLOGS. I just finished season 1. My family has camped for years and we just upgraded our pop up to a brand new, 23 foot Alpha Wolf. I came to your channel for tips and have learned so much! Your family really is the best! I love your honesty and positivity - Thank you! We have an 18yr old daughter and a 12 yr old son. You have inspired us to get out and just go!
Welcome! Wow, crazy to watch both ends. You're going to see the kids grow up right before your eyes! Glad you're here.
We upgraded our water pump shortly after purchasing our TT. We got a quieter one. We have been fortunate with most other systems in our unit. I miss the coast of California since I am from San Luis Obispo. My husband used to be a CA State Park Ranger. We lived at Morro Bay State Park and later in the Napa Valley.
The ice cube tray makes another appearance! Ever since you shared it my family has bought 3, we're all obsessed 😂. Thanks for the tip!
It works so well!
Your videos are always incredible. You’re also getting me motivated to eat healthier and to get fit. I appreciate all the hard work you do for us RV folks.❤️🇺🇸🐾
Mark. Whatever with the shirt off you’re stacked. Proud of you
The very best way to ride out my covid recovery, watching your videos. Definitely a few scenes that put a smile on my face. Can’t wait to get back out there. We’re from Tahoe, so I bet it will be fun to see your activities up there. I’m curious how you’re going to find spacer in an rv park. Thanks for putting these together. We love you guys ❤
Happy Sunday everyone
1 hr = 10,000+ views. You guys are awesome. I’ve checked for your video about 7 times today. I’m always looking forward to watching your adventures on Sundays.
@@BabiBoi357 videos are released at 8pm Eeastern standard time here in Quebec Canada.
So cute Outdoor Barbie, a true California Girl. Lived in CA most of my life, until recently living in Texas now. Missing the West Coast so this is a nice memory. Be safe you Four, it's not what it used to be. Remember it's a Dry Heat😊🍷🤠
You should use a brass quick disconnect on your RV. Amazon has them and they work great. Number two I would put an L bracket on the hose so it doesn't stick out of the RV by 5 feet and put a lot of pressure on the connection.
Love the nicknames for Trish!!
Love that you carry the Philips AED. I also travel with one and had to use it on the road a few months ago. I was able to give the victim a shock, which hopefully allowed her to get further treatment. It gives me piece of mind.
Great video guys. You are definitely right. When the water stops the fun ends. We have a Class A diesel pusher. When our water pump quit it was miserable for two days. Fortunately the following day we were stopping to see a friend. He had a new water pump waiting on us. He has a full mechanics tool set and installed it for us. Then we all went out for dinner. Water and electricity is definitely a must! Fortunately we have an onboard 10k generator so we always have electricity.
Marc and Tricia... Long time fan of KYD. If you haven't done it yet, do yourself a favor and install a water shutoff valve behind your RV toilet. I can't tell you how many times we've had issues in our Forest River Vibe 312BHS travel trailer at the toilet and have had to disconnect the water line and cap it off so we can continue to camp and manually fill the toilet to flush it. This summer I had enough of dealing with that kind of chaos, so I installed an inline shutoff valve on the water line behind the toilet. Now if something happens it's a simple twist of the valve to cut off water to the toilet. This is also helpful if any maintenance has to be done. You can shut off water to the toilet and leave the rest of the camper functional with water while you do the work. I don't know why RV manufacturers don't do this as a standard practice. Also water is the one thing that can wreck a camper so I also put battery powered water sensors under our sinks, behind the toilet and under the water pump. This way if there is a leak we get an audible alert and can take care of things quickly.
Marc is definitely right - water does rule (the whole world). Can't live without it. Safe travels on the roads ahead & thanks for taking us along for the ride.
The PCH is my second favorite drive in CA. I'm already gonna love this series. Thank you!!!
118°, but it's a DRY heat!
Completely agree, gotta have water! We suspected our pump was failing a few months ago. Just sounded different. Carried a spare and sure enough I had to install it yesterday. Marc that is good advice to carry a spare. Thanks for the video guys. Wife and I really enjoy your channel.
We are on the west cost as well ( California ). I'm putting in a solar system north of San Diego. We are at a old winery that is overlook the valley below. I go out and have grapes and oranges each morning. Thanks for sharing the video I love all of them.
This video was SOOOO relaxing to watch. From a production perspective, loved the edits, music, b roll insertions, etc. Great chemistry between you two, looking forward to the next one 😊
Needles is such a garden spot in the summer lol. Some nice folks, though. Bringing scouts back from Grand Canyon looking for a place to camp overnight, and the gal at the Wagon Wheel says, "you can sleep on our back lot". She then proceeded to call places up the I-40 to see what was available for us! We ended up on a side track by a cell tower in the Mojave...
We are looking at StarLink. It is sweet how Charlie and Annie are so cute together. 😍 The water situation is frustrating. - Jim & Michelle
Thanks for another great video!! Even after all these seasons...still an awesome inspiration!!
if you had mtn bikes or fat bikes ( 2.5" tires work) riding bikes by Crystal cove at a low or better, a minus tide is the nicest bike ride around. from the dunes, you can take bike trails all the way into the foothills of irvine. you could also go across balboa island and take the beach with a little riding on pch all the way to Los Angeles.
end of sept early oct is the air show at huntington beach pier. traffic will be ABSOLUTELY crazy along pch and you'll likely have to walk your bikes to get some places, but air shows are air shows.......
That temp are Crazy, my Sister lived in Prescott
I am from Auckland New Zealand
I have an Arctic Fox 5th wheel and have traveled thousands of miles in the last 7 years. Nothing has broken and the only fix has been a leaky faucet in the bathroom. Vehicles don't fall apart traveling down the road. Why do we accept RVs falling apart going down the road??
I can’t believe you guys stayed in Needles!! The town I’m from and have family in! Amazingly small world
We live very near Laguna and spend a lot of time in all the areas you were in during this episode. Not sure people understand how beautiful the coast is out here. So glad you enjoyed your time. We have been to the beachcomber many times. So weird to see the places you go on Tv.
0:13 Trish the Dish looks awesome in Green as well!! Beautiful video, love following along with y’all and learning travel tips as well….
118 is just too hot, even for lizards. The closing shot of the two dogs looking over the screen saver is awesome.
So excited you are back in Cali!! Love your videos and all the details you include!
Love the Beachcomber! Would love to stay in one of the renovated cottages. We stay at Marriott’a Newport Coast villas across from Crystal Cove when we visit Newport Beach. Noticed the RV park there before & thought what a great park for RVs. Love seeing Charlies’s sister!
Just got home from a HWY 101 road trip. Ocean Shores, WA to Mckinleyville, CA. Beautiful drive!
Thanks for a great video! Loved seeing the coast, the farmers market and Charlie and Annie 🩷
Outdoor Barbie lol Perfect timing as I just made myself a Old Fashioned.
I run my Starlink in Bypass mode into a 3rd party router. (GL-iNet) All my devices connect to the other router and then I control the router's uplink is. Starlink, VZW Home Internet, campground wifi, etc. One extra setup step, but less hassles in the end and a lot simpler for the family.
we are looking forward to watching your next episodes. We are planning to visit the west coast in 2026. Being from Rhode Island, the west coast will be a hike but we are planning on 10 to 12 weeks. Thank you for all of the great videos and great content.
Beautiful scenery! Thanks for sharing!❤
Mark it seems like something is going to break along the way but you keeping the right attitude helps the outcome. Yall stay safe
Great video. Makes me miss “home”. Crystal Cove is gorgeous In a tight squeeze, you can request a 72 hour permit from the city of Laguna beach to park your rig on the street as long as it’s away from the tourist area and enjoy the state park all day.
🔥🔥🔥Dang! We need footage of a shirtless Marc in EVERY episode!!!!🔥🔥🔥
Maybe on Trish's phone it says "Camper Ken". If so, watch out for that pink truck! 🤣
Charlie and Annie - those eyes!!! you can tell an Indiana Golden by their eyes!
We bought and returned 2 of those RV Guard inlets, they both failed pretty much right away. We ended up getting something called a G-Sunny all metal inlet which was a smaller size but it worked on our water panel fine.
Moro and Morro Bay. Threw me off for a while when you showed up at Crystal Cove in Orange County. I was thinking you were going from Needles to Morro Bay, quite a bit further and a seven hour drive minimum. I thought, wow, you folks put in long driving days. 4-5 hours 250-300 miles for this old guy. You’re lucky that you have two drivers. Just me for the two of us. Great video.
What a great video. I’ve been watching for years and really enjoy when you come to SLO country my hometown, you guys are awesome. Plus I feel your pain when it comes to RV repair as a Master Mechanic and RV tech even the best (Airstream uses questionable parts). Take care and hope you got to have a Tri Tip sandwich while you were here.
Firestone!
@@susangordon5198 Firestone is good but Rancho Nipomo and Jockos are both really good as well. I’m a little biased our bakery (Edna’s) makes the bread for all 3 and most of the restaurants in SLO and Santa Barbara
There's a CASTLE on that beach! Cool!
Oh yes. Thousand Steps. I grew up in OC back when there was just one traffic signal between our house and the beach and we could be at Corona del Mar in 10 minutes. Good times!
Fun show video, 'fun stuff fix' fresh water leak .... & Best of all Charley & sis 🦮, puppy happiness 💞. Journeying RV continues 'coasting the coast' of Cali ✌️☮️
re: hose connection. You might need the plumbing equivalent of an electrical strain relief... or a 90 degree hose connection adapter
Love this channel!!! Thanks for taking us along!!
Get a 45 degree hose connector so your hose hangs directly down from the outlet and does not put pressure on the connection from a hose sticking straight out.
If you guys end up in the Mt Lassen area I have a place you can stay at it's in Chester right on the feather river next to lake almanor
It has water and sewage hookup
279 frost
Thank you both for another awesome episode!!!!!!
We have been watching your channel for years and have always enjoyed it.
But it seams that there is always something breaking on your Airstreams. And you have also added so many upgrades. We can’t travel anymore because of health issues but we have had several different travel trailers and most recently a winnebago RV and rarely had to replace any parts. With Airstream being so expensive you would expect better quality. I fully realize you put on more miles than we did. We traveled about 5 months out of the year.
Safe travels. 🚐🤗
Outdoor Barbie!! You’re killing me!!
You guys are such an inspiration. At one time I tried to go down 101 but i only made it down the Oregon coast. Some day I'll get into California. I'm pretty close to making it happen.
I’m from and grew up in SoCal and spent Summers in Shasta in NorCal. So many fond memories but I have zero desire to go back.
Protip: Add some bananas or plantains to the sauce. I puree or smash it but sliced works just fine. Adds so much flavor.
We drove through Shasta last week. We couldn't believe the jagged mountains off the highway. Never saw them before. Looked like Mt. Whitney. Amazing.
Try putting a 90degree on the end of water hose to ease the pressure on the trailer fitting
Another fun video :) Mark Re: the water inlet leak. I think if you attached a 90 degree elbow it would help take some of the downward pressure off of the inlet.
You make it look so easy and comfortable. Good job!
Oh my I loved the idea of Charlie having a sister but he is still #1. Hugs to him from me. Tricia that looked to be an amazing meal you fixed. Yum Yum. Marc you're a great handyman to have around. Enjoyed watching and thanks!!!
sunset bay, cape Argo, English garden, Francis Drake anchorage, great example of earthquake fault movement at low tide
Love you two! I cannot wait to get on the road for good!
Might want to think about a ramp for the pups 😂
I put my new water pump in and kept the old one as the spare. No more cycling in the middle of the night and I still have a working spare.
A beautiful journey begins. Love the date night dress.
Yay! Back on the road with great sounds! Love the tunes in this one, for sure...🙂 PS...I see what you're doing, you Marketing major, you. Bikini, shirtless flexes, "date night". You've got us warmed up and primed for this trip. Love it. 🙂
Gotta get a 90 degree fitting so the hose isn't putting all that pressure on the outside city water hookup. Hopefully you can get a better made part for that hookup.
Love the Endless Summer music!
18:42 Don't forget to order an external water pressure regulator with the nLET, which is your failure point with the one you just bought.
I just confirmed that it's built into the nLet. I'll verify before installing.
great content . try the el-bow conector on your water hookup , this will save wear and tear on the rv fitting. Love those puppies
In the desert Its best to always try to cook outside on a grill to
Not heat up the inside. Cool AC is critical
Hey, Mark a note on checks you should get a couple of Uniball 207 pens anytime you write a check or sign your name they use a pigment dye and not an ink it can't be bleached out or chemically removed.
Is this Frank Abagnale, Jr?
Park pressure can be too high and blow out water lines. Solution get a water pressure regulator for your water hose.!!😉
While we aren’t full timers like you, we do 4-6 weeks routinely and once a year for 8-10 weeks. We have three hotspots with 100 GB each. One is 4G T-MOBILE using the on the roof antenna Wineguard. It has excellent reception being on the roof and has 3 built in antenna’s. We also have two hotspots, both 5G. One is AT&T the other T-Mobile. This way we always can get a good signal. BTW, T-Mobile blows the doors off AT&T for signal strength. We also have our phones which have 50 GB hotspots each plus unlimited 5G. We stream everything…watch TV at 1080P consistently. Just thought I’d share our setup for others to know how we do it. Like Marc said we too get about 2 weeks for each 100GB hotspot. That’s why we have several. Each one costs $50 per month.
17:00, damn Mark, the cycling is working.
You more or less made the same decision we made, drive all the way from Williams/Flagstaff area to the OC in one day, with most of the day driving in to the sun. With the CA Trailer Speed limit 55mph, that's pretty darn miserable. Add to that no real good place in the middle, so Needles is it. It was mid-90's in Needles in April and that was bad enough, but over 110? yuck. At least the dog-friendly restaurant let the dogs in to the indoor a/c dining room.
Morro Bay is a nice stopping place, reservations are a necessity. Although we generally break down and go to one of the restaurants at the north end of the Embarcadero that has a fish market where you can select your dinner, and they will grill or fry it for you.
Burney Falls is a MUST SEE!!!
Charlie's probably reluctant to jump up because his feet slip on the running boards. Maybe try gluing a thin sheet of rubber on there so he can get some grip. Worked for my dog.
Saving to recipes. LOL Butter Chicken.
Love the AED. As a first responder, I appreciate this!!
The train on I40 is as dependable as the sunrise in Arizona. ❤
I really miss Marc using his Levelmate-Pro for leveling the RV. His pursuit and obsession with 0" and the green indication of perfect cracks me up. The bubble level works, but not nearly as entertaining. Maybe it's because I'm the same way with mine 😁. I send my kids screen shots of it when I get it right. Really enjoy following you guys!
I finally set it up in Fort Jones, CA.
I will never be lucky enough to personally have these Amazing Adventures ($$$) so I Thank You for sharing as I live vicariously through your Journeys! 🎉❤😊
Never say never. These are the books that make our daydream possible. Not preaching www.amazon.com/shop/keepyourdaydream/list/3SPG741CXFX8S?ref_=aip_sf_list_spv_ofs_mixed_d
It also looks like you need a check valve on your inlet from the city line that is not part of the fixture.
Happy Sunday All from the U.P of Michigan
