i think you should still wash your shoes even if you dont wear them inside. Basically use hot water and soap and rinse them and toss them on a shoe dryer you can get for 30 bucks and it keeps your shoes comfy and always fresh.... takes 5 min tops if you need to get the pebbles from the soles out

No it's not I used to do it sometimes. It really does prevent alot of dirt from getting tracked in. Nowadays, I have two pairs of casual, and running shoes. Then I have 1 pair of indoor shoes (that I never walk outside with). Whenever I come back home I always remove my outside shoes and walk around in my socks or I put on my indoor shoes. It quite an easy thing to do and you don't have to worry about your house getting dirty so quickly.

I don't know anyone who washes their tennis shoes in the washing machine except for only a couple times when the shoes were still pretty new and they were somehow in danger of having to be thrown out because of an accidental drenching of mud or river/creek water. It takes a long time for tennis shoes to dry and a lot of times they will start stinking fairly quickly after they have "dried" and start being worn again. Washing them is pretty much just a way to try and extend their wearing capability for a short while before they start stinking and need to be trashed. I used to think washing my tennies was a good idea and figured out it was just wishful thinking.
