Macro tutorial: My easy secrets to beautiful Lightroom edits

  • In this tutorial, I show how I use easy Lightroom editing techniques to transform my macro images from everyday snaps into more eye-catching pieces of art. I demonstrate the radial gradient and linear gradient tools and how they can be extremely powerful ways of shaping the lighting in your images.
I also show how I take control of the colours in my images using the Hue, Saturation and Luminance (HSL) panel and how using the curves and Color Grading tools can add a cinematic feel to your shots.
As always, my edits are done to my own tastes and that won't suit everyone, so make sure to take your time in your editing to find a look that works for you -- and never let other photographers tell you what you what is the "right" or "wrong" way to do things!

The cigar shape looks awsome in such photos or portraits. I usually bring down a bit of dehaze to really add the hazy bright feel. Great video!

I like how there are pictures all the way back to 2002 in your library and only a handful of them, and suddenly... 14007 in last year :D

Haha that's what happens when you get a new computer towards the end of 2020 but decide not to re-import your old catalogues!

I started playing more and more with the mask tool and I absolutely love it. The tip with the cigar shape is amazing…gonna try that at some point. :D

Again, so so helpful. I feel like I'm struggling with post processing, and I always learn something from your videos. I can see that you keep things simple, and simple is always best. Thank you

Excellent tutorial, what a transformation in those scenes, really great to see how to process them with localised adjustments, thank you. I just want to mention, that in the second photograph, up in the top right, there is a face. Do you see it ? I do, first thing I seen as soon as you showed the image, have a look. Thanks again Andrew video is great 😁👍
