Most interesting interviews of friends, family & contacts of Annette Funicello, ever! Loved hearing Frankie Avalon’s recollections in particular but every single story was so incredibly interesting & exciting! I miss & love you so much Annette! You will live forever in all of our hearts!❤️
@@michaelodonnell9756, I completely agree, and I must share with you something odd that just happened. I was using another phone app when the thought of Mr. Holt, Annette's daughter and this dedication came to mind. It must have happened just as you were writing your comment. I don't think anything psychic happened (lol), but I do think it's a cute coincidence.
I honestly would have loved to have met her. God bless you, Annette. You should still be with us. Thanks so much for the memories that you've given to many generations over the years. Godspeed and lots of love. ❤
The ending to this brought tears to my eyes because it distinctly brought back memories of when I watched this back in the '50's...I would sing along with them, M-I-C...K-E-Y...M-O-U-S-E! I wanted to be a Mouseketeer, too! Jimmie Dodd, the host of the show, would quote and sing a Proverb from the Bible each day it came on and spoke of its importance in life. How sad we, as a nation, have fallen from such times like this. I miss those days...and I miss Annette, too.
We all do "our thing" while we're here on earth. Our "success" is defined by how we're remembered when we're gone. Annette was certainly one of so many successes of the Disney family. As a kid, I only got to see the reruns of the show, but I never missed an episode. (Many of them several times over).
As a kid in 1961, I visited Disneyland and had a chance meeting with Walt Disney. He was cruising around with his grandkids in a little golf cart. My mom pointed him out and said "there's Walt Disney". I stepped forward toward the cart and said "are you Walt Disney?" He stopped the cart stuck out his hand to shake mine and said "I sure am son". I'll never forget that.... ;-)
What a thrill that must have been and such an incredible memory for you! Thank-you for sharing your special memory with us all! What a true thrill it must be to have been able to say that you actually met Walt Disney! I would have loved to have been able to meet this amazing man! How nice of him to stop & shake your hand, too. I have read what a kind, sensitive & caring man Walt was, with no airs! He was so brilliant & “business savvy” he was too. Just loved this amazing man & all he accomplished in his lifetime! He left a “legacy of love!”❤️
Heaven has “KAREN, DOREEN & undoubtedly others I do not know that have passed( possibly “TUBBY ?” I think I read somewhere, sadly too) in heaven as well! Walt Disney has his Mickey Mouse cast members that he so dearly cared about, that have all passed into heaven “DOING THEIR OWN SPECIAL ROLL CALL” in heaven right now! May they all “REST IN PEACE!”❤️
I'm sure they were and I'm sure certainly put a lot of smiles on a lot of people over many generations. Let's all be grateful. Thanks for the memories, Annette. ❤
I am sure they were too! God Bless both of their souls as well as everyone that has passed over from The Mickey Mouse Club! May they all Rest In Peace!❤️
Incredible video, very moving, to see real Hollywood stars recalling their times with Annette is insightful. Thank you to Mr. Bob Iger for the great comments.
So great that Annette could be in all our lives - an eternal warm and friendly smile. I think I am seeing Brian Wilson and maybe Al Jardine at 1:07, possibly when making The Monkey's Uncle movie in 1965 when the Beach Boys backed her as she sang the title song.
You are so right! Annette was & will forever be “AMERICA’S SWEETHEART!” She was as beautiful on the “inside”( where it counts!) as she was on the outside! She was unblemished by any controversy & was a talented entertainer, loving mother & incredible wife, always putting others before herself. Walt Disney adored her as well as “the whole world!” Everyone was “in love” with Annette Funicello!❤️
Where Spin says she took forever to sign her name because every letter was rounded -- then they showed a picture and that was NOT her signature. Her writing was not slanted and it WAS very round. When they pull back the curtain, the signature on the building is hers.
Her life story is on TH-cam ......"A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes", from her autobiography of the same name.......it's VERY good.........her mother is played by Linda Lavin......also in the movie is her best friend Shelly Fabares....... Frankie Avalon .......and yes, Annette is in the movie too........I watched the Mickey Mouse club in the 60s......my favorites were Annette, Cubby and Karen
Annette Joanne Funicello 1942-2013 she was a former member of the Mickey Mouse Club and all the beach movies and the peanut butter commercials especially skippy
How does one gain a saint's title? Is it by being so beautiful within and without that boys immediately fall respectfully in love with you, while girls immediately love you without jealousy? Is it by being heaped with national admiration so great it causes you to become the subject of a famous song and the embodiment of a fairy-tale princess? Is it by remaining humble and kind DESPITE all that? Is it by slowly losing everything that made you physically exceptional and STILL retaining your inner beauty? If so, then I declare that somebody out to push for the naming of Saint Annette the Modern. Or Saint Funicello. Or St. Annie. I'm joking, of course. Well. A little.
Nice show, but there quite a lists of people that weren't attended the ceremony are Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, Keri Russell from the 90's version as well as Lisa Whelchel from "The Facts of Life" and the 1977 version and of course, Paul Anka, one of Annette's first friend and Shelly Fabares, the "Johnny Angel" girl, and just the names that I don't have to list that are not attending.
That's true! I'm surprised that Lindsey Alley (1989-95 MMC) wasn't there either. I seem to remember seeing a video of that interview that Lindsey did with her in 1993 and it seems like that they were close
Walt would never approve of what his Disney land, turning into R rated movies, gay scenes in his movies, and I no for sure Annette would never approve, they are both turning in their graves!! Too bad the CEO of Disney is turning gay on Walt's dream!!!
What a pity that Walt Disney never permitted black children to appear on the Mickey Mouse Club and that they were never told that they were "as welcome as can be".
She was always my favorite Mickey Mouse Club member!
Annette was a true star and legend. So well deserved 😊

Every single time that I see this dedication of the Annette Funicello Stage I begin to realize what type of impact she left towards Walt Disney, her fellow mouseketeers and above all - her friends and family.
Happy New Years to all and may this year be the very best one for all.
Please give me thumbs up if you enjoyed watching this dedication of the Annette Funicello Stage that is located at Burbank, California. ©®

Mr. Holt should have been asked to speak. He took care of her in an extraordinary way.
I totally agree. What a wonderful couple.

Awww I was sad when she passed away. Disappointed in how no channels showed any movies in dedication to her passing. I was named after her.
Doreen is also gone they were so close now they can be together again singing and playing and dancing love you both and miss you terribly 😔
Thank you for sharing this, it gives young Disney fans a look at the history of Disney. Great job on the video.
I do realize one thing that is true. Everybody will miss a kind hearted mouseketeer by the name of Annette Funicello very much.
Rest In Peace Annette Funicello. You will be missed but never forgotten by your Mickey Mouse Club fans and friends as well.

Annette is america's sweetheart, Miley Cyrus is not.
TsWade2 right! I'll be the America's sweetheart for the rest of my life on and off Mickey Mouse Club! Right now, I am the Florida's sweetheart
I think we can agree both agree on one thing. There's only one America's Sweetheart and that's Annette Funicello.
It feels sacrilegious to put both in the same sentence. No Disney "princess" belongs in the same home, much less on the same shelf, with Annette.

I found it interesting that Annette was born in upstate NY (Utica).
Why would you find that interesting that Annette was born in upstate New York? Alot of good people were born in New York, like Dick Clark, etc.
