Hi Tina and thank you very much for your comment.
Yes, I’m sure a lot of people, including myself will relate to what you are saying about staggering your sowings. That is something I think I’ve got better at over the years and it definitely helps to get my a more regular supply of veg throughout the year rather than a large glut, then nothing.
I’m really pleased you are enjoying the videos and kind regards. Gary

I know what not to do but still do it, I’m just in the process of making a temporary greenhouse with some spare glass I have on my plot to cope with all my seedlings, but thanks for the tip with the fleece as I was using plastic

Thank you very much for your comment Sandra. A greenhouse or polytunnel is one of the most useful things you can have to help with your seedlings so I'm sure you will find that helpful. Fleece is ideal as it is very light in terms of weight, still allow light through and just gives that added level of protection from frost and colder temperatures. Kind regards Gary

Hi. Thank you for the video. I have put my peppers in the greenhouse as i had to make room for my tomatoes. I am covering them at night just to try and protect them too. Thank you for sharing.

Hi Nikki and thank you for the comment. Yes, that is exactly what I'm doing with my peppers at the moment. There is always a risk of late frosts so I just keep a close I on the weather and where needed provide a bit of fleece protection. Hopefully the weather will warm up soon as the peppers will love it! Kind regards Gary

I’m just below the New Forest on the south coast…I am amazed since moving here that I have had lobelia, pelargoniums, antirrhinums flowering outside all winter, even begonias survived. I have one of those little walk in greenhouses full of seedlings, no issue with frost but I’ve had a slug attack 😡 Not sure of best way to deal with them, I am going to put fine gravel in and around it, but I’m worried they are now in the soil in the trays. Copper tape round the legs of the shelving? They are probably climbing the plastic though. Everything I germinated in kitchen roll is going well…apart from slugs…

Thank you very much for your comment. Yes, I’m often surprised too when certain things grow in the Autumn and Winter, but in the very cold temperatures, as you can see in the video, some unprotected veg are particularly vulnerable. I’m in the Midlands and although it’s not been excessively cold we have got down to minus 5 and 6.
I know what you mean about slugs, they’ve had a real feast with my lettuce seedlings! I might try a few beer traps which a few people have suggested. Kind regards. Gary

Brilliantly helpful again. Thank you Gary. I have been covering anything I have outside with fleece and was wondering when I should stop doing that. I’ll keep going for a wee bit longer.

Thank you very much for the comment Emma, I’m really pleased you enjoyed the video.
It’s always difficult at this time of year with the risk of late frosts to know the best time to plant out and to stop protecting seedlings. Like you I will continue to be a little cautious over the next few weeks and keep protecting where needed. Hopefully the temperature will improve soon and give us one less thing to think about! Kind regards. Gary

Hello Gary 👋🏻 enjoyed watching your video. Your seedlings are doing really well. My house is full of seedlings and it looks like an forest! 😂 My husband is moaning so much giving me a headache! Luckily he will be building me a greenhouse next week so i just can’t wait! I am thinking to take my chilli plants out inside a small plastic greenhouse with 5 shelves. Do you think they will be ok now? Thank you ❤️

Thank you very much for your comment and I'm pleased you enjoyed the video.
You will love the new greenhouse, it will make such a difference. I built mine around about this time last year and I'm really reaping the benefits now. You must send me a picture of yours when your husband has built it.
As you can see from the video, my peppers are now in my unheated polyhouse. I will keep and eye on the weather and if it is forecast to be cold I will cover then in fleece. You should be able to do the same with yours. Kind regards Gary

What type of peppers are those seedlings?

Thank you for the comments. They are two varieties I’m trying for the first time. The larger ones are Gusto F1 and the smaller ones are Carolina Reaper, both are hot chilli peppers. Kind regards. Gary
