I think Roger Waters sometimes dont receive the credit that he deserves for being a great bass player !!! What is unfair in my opinion. The Bass line in Money is also one of the greatest ever....

One of These Days could easily be a song that Metal musicians of today’s age can thank for their sound. I know that Pink Floyd didn’t write this song with the intent of starting the Metal Genre, there were ones who were already beginning it, but as far as the Bass Guitar sounds one hears in some of the Metal music of today, the Bass lines of this song do have a bit of a Metal feel to them. I’ve always loved this song, and it’s one of my top favorites by them!

Back in Jan 1988 i went to my first pink floyd show at the sydney entertainment center.The first part of the show was absolutely amazing then the band took a coke break. everyone got up talked among strangers about the show so far and then the big circle at the back started its lights ever so subtley and the familiar sound of the wind blowing. the lights on the circle screen started the go quicker and the sound of the wind blew louder. better get back to your seats and lots of people rushed back into get their seats.meanwhile the lights were dimming and the band was coming back on stage. the spinning of the lights was going around and around and all of a sudden ...the first three notes played on the bass and dunker dunker dunker dunker as the spotlight went on to the bass player thudding through the notes as the whirling on the big screen spun and spun. the light went on to david sitting at a steel slide guitar and he stared to play. meanwhile the bass was thundering along and the familiar steel guitar sliding up and down. Dave had his tongue in his cheek as you could see the joy and pure energy of his playing. the lights were spinning and the bass was chundering along ONE OF THESE days ........Im going to chop you into little pieces and a giant pig with malevolent red glowing eyes appeared over my head. I haven't seen a spectacle like that and as i write this i can still see it in my minds eye 37 years later. I bought pirate tickets to the next three shows just to see this again.The tears of joy in my eyes and the absolute privilege and pleasure to see pink floyd.Prob my favourite concert from maybe over 100 different concerts over the years

I read an interview with David Gilmour back in the early 90s from Guitar magazine. He said with all of the technology available at that time in the 90s, he couldn't find anything that could do what the Binson could do. In many ways the new digital technology just doesn't stand up to the old analog.

shoot I cannot find a single video with Roger actually playing it live, in Pompei is covered by Nick, there is no footage of him doing this beautiful job, why?

In pompeii the director lost 2 reels of film which had the footage of the rest of the band so the only film they had was of Nick

Gilmour played the first bass part - the slapping, bright sound because Roger couldn't do it right. Roger plays the second bass (that had old, dull strings) with a pick.

a great instrumental song from the Floyd, Roger is very careful when he decides to sing cause he always chooses the most comfortable notes due to his horrible horrible voice and singing
