    Hi Ken. I have been binge watching your videos this morning after finding your channel. Time to head out back and look for "prolifs".
    Thanks for the information.

    I had these last year and emailed your office and she told me what it was and suggested a older video. I did exactly what you suggested and have beautiful new plants that even survived the winter!!!!

      @@raychel3548 We are in zone 7. We overwinter them in pots and then plant them outside after the threat of frost has passed in the spring

    Your tips on proliferations were very helpful, esoecially the water tip. I will try that next year. I have gotten a few proliferations, but have not tried to sace them, have seen none yet this year. I did read in one spot that you should leave the green stalks until they turn brown as they can form a proliferation even after the blooms have finished? Perhaps others know the answer. Thank you.

    • @OakesDaylilies
      @OakesDaylilies 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Once the scapes turn brown they are dead. We've never seen a dead scape produce a live proliferation. We typically either pull out the brown, dead scapes to make the plant look neater, or trim the whole plant down at the end of the season.

    I found an entire bed of daylilies in front of a hospital in Zone 9a Oxnard, California which had no flowers at all, but every “flowering” stalk had proliferations instead. I picked some and took them home to Zone 8a Texas, but didn’t manage to get them to root. I didn’t take the cutting like you demonstrated though - didn’t want to take part of the stem so I took the proliferations themselves. It was October
    PS: would you happen to know the name of that variety? No evidence of flowers at all. Every flower stalk had proliferations instead of flowers (no they weren’t Spider Plants as someone in my family suggested). Neither of my daylily books had it

    • @OakesDaylilies
      @OakesDaylilies 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Planting proliferations are a fun way to get extra daylilies, but it can be tricky to get them to root if you've traveled with them. Unfortunately, without seeing the plant and/or bloom, there's no way for us to identify it.

    Is it normal to get yellow leaves after a few days when planted in a pot like you suggested? Roots look like they're taking off but leaves not...

    • @OakesDaylilies
      @OakesDaylilies 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's common for daylilies that have been transplanted, whether into the ground or a pot, to have some yellowing on the leaves. The leaves may green back up or they may die back and be replaced by new leaves, either way, it shouldn't take more than a few weeks.

    I bought some Daylilies this summer in big pots , im a zone 9b, do i have to place them in the ground this winter?

    • @OakesDaylilies
      @OakesDaylilies 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hi! In zone 9B, your daylilies should be fine to overwinter in pots. Depending on winter temps in your area, you may have to do some protection measures. Here's a link to a video we shot earlier this summer about daylilies in containers. Hope it helps! th-cam.com/video/Z-j9HjD7t_w/w-d-xo.html
