    Great video. What it boils down to is whether or not you have use for such a utilitarian camera, no matter your reason. If you don't want or desire to lug around lenses and equipment, it works for you.! If you want to use it as a B camera, a travel camera, or even your primary camera, it has the specs and technology to perform the task admirably, even after all this time since its inception. Pro style features with nearly professional parameters, certainly above your average point and shoot with the 24 FPS, 4K, several slo-mo options, and so customizable that you likely won't go through the entire menu to get setup and started. If any of these things appeal or work for you, this camera is a consideration.

    That looks a heck of a lot better than my last bridge camera! I like the way Sony have progressed. My 2014-bought Sony Alpha A3000 mirrorless still does everything I need from digital. Nice review! Keith

    Thank you for a great review and your perspective. Like you, I am a stills-only photographer and a lot of my work is done in the wild, so as a camera that is a one-stop unit, where bulk and weight are critical, such as multi-day hikes, it is a great unit. I agree that at this time the RX-10MkIV is still the best super zoom bridge camera on the market. For me the weather sealing, amazing Zeiss optics, IS, metering, high-quality 1inch stacked CMOS sensor (in particular),and a shutter that can do 24 fps are all compelling features.
    Unlike you (and I am the first to say this is a matter of personal preference), I find the menu system rather disjointed and clunky compared to my usual Canon systems, but I have managed to configure the buttons and function menu so I don't have to venture in there very much. Also, I would actually prefer the fully-articulated screen: I am used to being able to use it, but for me the ability to fold it face into the body to avoid damage is a decent benefit. Right now, I have an armoured glass protection screen on the LCD.
    I am expecting a release in the not-too-distant future of an RX10Mk5, and in that case I am hoping for a few features. Five-axis IBIS, as opposed to optical stabilization. Both AE and AF lock buttons on the back of the camera, built-in ND filter, a control (like that on the Fuji X-T4) that switches modes between stills and video, and that separates all features, menus, and button customizations from each other. By separating video from stills features and linking the features in menus more logically, I think it would seriously enhance the user experience. A bigger battery would be nice, as would one Type A CF Express with backward compatibility to SD: or better yet, one SD and access to second SD card.
    All that said, the current camera is a compelling unit and is the camera I use when I don't need the specific benefits and features of my larger DSLR and FF MILC units.

    I"ve been using a Panasonic FZ1000 since 2014. I'm ready for a new camera and now feel I want to make the jump to the Sony RX 10....but seeing that the camera is now five years old, I'm going to wait for the RX 10-V. There have been plenty of advancements since then. Fingers crossed it's out by 2023.

    Enjoyed your video and you pic ones too. I'm researching whether to get this camera, I have been learning with the Lumix FZ82 which has 60x zoom, obviously not as good as the RX10 would I miss the zoom? I just love bird/wildlife photography also want to get some photos of fast jets and thinking this camera would be my best option. As it would be on finance I need to be sure it is the right option although it's probably the best upgrade I could manage. Any advice would be gratefully received TIA

    Amazing camera. Had mine 2 yrs now and it is my favorite. 600mm 1/8 second low light shot comes out more than not. 1000 fps slow motion, 24fps raw and tac sharp with great focus in fair light. On and on. Looked at side by side with my aspc camera on a 32 inch screen it really really makes me regret getting all the lenses and aspc body.. just the bokeh is minor on it. But can be done well at minimum focus distance.

    Great all in one camera,the only weak spot is poorly lit and night shots but,even then it's not too bad,had mine for just about four years now,so looking forward to the rumoured mk5 coming out this autumn?

    I have a Sony A1, but this does look tempting as a do it all travel camera. The price is reasonable too - no more than cost of one Sony GM lens!
    One question, does the eye AF work with the clear image zoom?

    • @camerarover7124
      @camerarover7124  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Johnathan, thanks for commenting.
      Yes, taking into account what the RX10 can achieve, the price point comparatively is excellent.
      The eye Af will work up to 600mm if CIZ is on. When you are any closer though it’s probably not so necessary as often you are on top of the subject and you can see the eyes clearly.
      The tracking and fast burst rate is also first class.

    Looks like an interesting camera. But how will the prints look in let's say A3 (30 by 40 cm), compared with a crop or Full frame sensor?

    • @camerarover7124
      @camerarover7124  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jos, with its high resolution sensor they look great. I have more cropping power now too.
      Todays technology has made smaller sensors advantageous and not like they were in the past.
      I’m genuinely surprised by the Sonys output.

      Bridge cameras often overlooked but with that range what more do you need. One camera solution. Sony do make good cameras. How do you do the telecomvertwr thing you said

    • @camerarover7124
      @camerarover7124  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@robdido Hi Rob, yes the RX10 mk4 is an impressive camera. In fact a game changer for my work.
      The clear image zoom function (which I leave on) is just a press of a button in the menu 😊
      You can then extend to 1200mm if needed
