Some good points Steven. I've retired my glass carboy because of the difficulty cleaning. I always kept it in a snug fitting alloy boil pot with 2 handles on the side. Kept the carboy safe and sound from knocks and drops. Cheers mate😎👍
We moved away from glass when my husband almost cut off his finger while cleaning a glass Fermenter. We deep clean ALL equipment with a different sanitizer like iodophor to help meditate sneaky little microbes. I prefer Shinny stainless, easy to clean and air tight. Thanks for this video.
@NWsmallbatchBrewing that is an excellent point. When I got my fermentation chamber, I took my kegs to Home Depot and Lowe's and test fit them before I bought it. I also made a collar to raise the height so I can use my 10.25 gallon and 2x 6.25 gallon all at the same time.
When it comes to brewing, a wise man once said, “F**k Glass”. I had a couple of close calls and consider myself lucky. Sure there will be the old guys popping up saying I used glass for 50 years with no issue. Lucky them. I’d never advocate someone to use glass. Seen enough of the horror pictures. Average brewer, with water, flame/electrify, probably drinking, and a heavy awkward glass object… horrible combination.

Safety first 🛟🦺
Great idea. My neighbor is a wine maker, only uses glass, and places all of his glass carboys in milk cartons.
@@ladyfermenter-ThanksAPint Cheers 😎👍

Thanks!

Ouch scary glad he is ok
Spidels are the best plastic fermenters money can buy.... i highly recommend investing in one
I always have my doubts about plastic, but the price of glassware! Sheesh!
Over sized kegs is all I use nowadays. Stainless steel is definitely where it's at for fermentation.
I Get that but they don't fit in my freezer for fermenting. In the summer I have to use 2 standard Corny's.
