Despite this, it still continues to do certain things better than a lot of modern operating systems including Windows 10/11, Linux, and macOS. People don’t believe me when I say that I use Windows 7 in 2023. And it’s not for nostalgia or something (my first OS was OSX on my mum’s 2011 MacBook) I got Windows 7 on the EIGHT OF JANUARY 2023 because I have realised how good it is. It runs as my bedroom computer for when I’m lazy to go downstairs and has Office 2010, Roblox, many custom themes and other things just to make it home. I use it every other day and have had no problems. I even record the screen fine, with a capture card (OBS ISNT NECESSARY! [but I have to admit I use it on my other computer]) It is fast and does all you need to do. If you have a basic anti-virus, (which I hope you do) you are fine. Tech TH-camrs need to stop scaring people away from it because of security updates. Everything is fine and if you want to use it, USE IT! Take it from me.

I've personally been trying to do the thing where I check in with how linux compares to Windows 7 every now and then, and whilst it may not be there now, some linux OSes are getting closer. So far the biggest things I've seen missing are a *fully featured* System tray, but the KDE Plasma one is only missing a handful of features; other things missing are an amazing file manager that has a sort of windowsy feel with the semi-tree sidebar file listing. Linux is also going through quite a few changes right now, and package formats seem to be a confusing mess (Which is basically the sole distinguishing factor for a distro base, and a distro is just the base + pre-installed packages and software).

If you were ever willing to give linux a try, I'd say to try putting maybe Linux Mint Cinnamon latest a try in a vm, maybe a distro with KDE Plasma as well (as it's the most windows-like ootb) though you may notice that you can't reorder icons in the system tray, and the default clock looks funky. There's also a really cool theme to try to get KDE Plasma to look as close to the Windows 7 Aero look as is pretty much possible right now.
I also still use 7, and you should be able to use an older OBS as Elvis was saying, I've just been trying to switch to FOSS as much as I can as that's what works better for me. Also I've heard that Open Office is a good FOSS alternative to Microsoft Office if you were ever wanting to look for potential alternatives

when i was on win7 on the family computer, we didn't have any antivirus and had no problems, my parents just educated me on what they knew were safe sites, and told me not to stray from them and i listened

After xp when i've first time seen windows 7, I've felt it's better. In looks, functionalities and everything. I was amazed by windows 7. It felt like it's the future. Those 3d folders, you can even see images inside folder without even openings it.
And when I first time saw windows 10. I didn't believe it's the real thing. I felt like it's fake replica or something. Because everything looks flat and now you can't see images inside folder without opening it. It was worse looking and fewer customization options.
It felt like I was hearbroken, betrayed xD

It is so good at being good that I have it installed and running perfectly on a Z790 MB with a Gen13 i5 and DDR4. I would have got the DDR5 version of the board but the price/performance was not there yet.

Both are unsupported now but if you really want to install it go for Windows 7 on a desktop and 8.1 on a tablet
