      Jimmy missed it because the black wasn't on it's spot, because he rushed the shot. He never took that into account and missed it by a long way.

    Surely Jimmy's missed black at 17-17 in the 1994 world final needs to be in? He was only 3 more reds and colours away from victory having lost FIVE finals already. And those reds and colours were there for the (very simple) taking, as Hendry stepped in to prove. Surely the most heart breaking miss of them all.

  • @jennaralissima
    @jennaralissima 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    One of the first things I learned about this game is that there is no shot so simple that it can't be missed for one reason or another. As much as I can, when faced with an 'easy' shot, I bring that thought to mind.

    I find it quite odd how I’m a right handed player yet I use the rest and break left handed and this confuses both me and my opponents. Because I have no reason to know why I do this

    • @Mitjitsu
      @Mitjitsu 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm a left handed player who uses the rest right handed. I'm guessing it's because I'm left and right handed for different sports. For sports like golf and hockey they only have equipment for right handed people which forces you to learn the games that way.

  • @ChesterBowerman
    @ChesterBowerman 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Love the videos man keep it up! To answer your question the reason why some left handers play rest shots right handed is through something called cross- dominance. It is quite common in left- handed people due to environmental factors forcing us to use right handed implements. As a result many left-handed people possess a right arm which is very competent and in some cases better suited to the task. I play snooker right handed but can play well left handed whereas I play tennis and golf left handed. It may seem confusing but it's all about a balance between natural conditioning and social factors. :)

      I think Phil Mickleson is the opposite of this right handed in everything apart from golf, his left hand swing apparently came from watching his dad play face on and the image was mirrored.

  • @thecommission6662
    @thecommission6662 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I'd have put Steve Davis's miss at number one, given that it cost him the World Championship. I'm right handed at everything apart from snooker, & that's because when I put my left hand on the table to make the bridge, it doesn't feel right compared to my right hand, so when I use the rest I have my cue in my right hand.

  • @davidebocchi2896
    @davidebocchi2896 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'll try to give an explanation for that left handed fact. Everything depends on which hand you want to be more stable, that's the hand you will use your left hand. If you want to be more stable holiding the rest you'll hold it with the left hand and shoot with the right. Unfortunately I have never played snooker with a rest, but I think I will hold it with my left hand.
    Another example is when you use the knife: I use the knife with my right hand while I hold the steak with the fork with my left hand. I tried several times to do the contrary but it ended up with the steak not being cut well or flying off my dish. I also have other left handed friends and they do use the knife with the left hand.
    That's my guess based on my experience.
    Anyway keep up the great work, David from Milan, Italy

    The left handed player / right handed rest combination can often occur for a couple of reasons:
    1) There are players who are right handed in real life (Judd Trump), but happen to play snooker left handed. Therefore it's not totally surprising that they might use the rest right handed. I think Barry Hawkins might be similar in this regard
    2) Sometimes it's just how the player is taught from a young age. I had a teammate who did this too, and he played right handed with the rest because that's how his dad taught him to use the implement.
    A wider point - and it's just my observation - is that left handed people tend to exhibit a greater degree of ambidexterity in day to day life. I'm left handed, but there are loads of things that I can either do with either preference (I'm quite ambidextrous in snooker, I can bat in cricket with either hand, etc.), and there are some things I do exclusively right handed (golf being one). In fact, I think I cue straighter right handed, although I have more power left handed. Even little things like using a calculator or a computer mouse are RH actions for me. Of course, someone like Ronnie is an exception, but in the nicest possible way... he's a freak of nature.
    Brains are weird!

      Snooker has been making a comeback for the past 3 yrs but not in a big way. American pool still has a huge influence here. It was really nice for Hendry and White to have come over and voiced their opinions about the abscence of canada in the world snooker scene. Unfortunately the young top talents that we currently have would be a laughing stock in the world amateur level...just my opinion. BTW...thank you very much for putting the time and effort to making cool and informative videos. They have helped me a lot. I'm a pool player that went from 1 break to 79 break

I wanted to know what would happen when the only black remaining is fouled(white ball goes into pot) or (miscued) when the points difference between the player A and B is less than 7.? If player B having lead of 6 points fouls on the last black, then will the game continue or it will end the frame making Player A the winner.?
