I feel in love with the Axial AX24 and modded it to near LCG rig. Almost bought an new furitek setup and then I saw this. I wish I seen this a week ago. Now I have to save up for a second rig. 😈
Yeah I was considering the AX24 but saw bad reviews. Saw this at that price and seemed a no brainer. With a few simple upgrades I reckon it'll be a beast. 👍
I love mine! Can't wait to see what you do to it! I put the Furitek Cedar and Python pro in mine. Then a bunch of brass, high clearance links, metal axles, Holmes Hobbies servo and run on 3s.
@DoURC I really like the Redcat! We live in the mountains of North Carolina and we have lots of great crawlin all around. The addiction of RC crawlin is real! Lol.
Nice one Rob, just about to paint mine before I review it. I think this will be my goto test rig for wheels and tyres. I was surprised nobody had reviewed this yet. Happy for you that you beat me to it lol
Thanks mate, it's a great little rig isn't it, especially for the price. Cape Crawlers and a few others reviewed them a couple of months back, so we're not the first. 👍
@@DoURCyeah everyone else has done the brush version. I had decided to buy the Evo pro based on those and decided to check Aliexpress and found the brushless version and was super excited! I ordered it a couple days ago and it was on sale for $155 and then I had a a coupon that brought it down to 115! Unbeatable deal and it's my first crawler. I am so excited! By the way, I love your videos, I have a question for you. I'm thinking about getting the FCX 18 for a scale crawler. Would you suggest that or another 18 scale range?
@katelynnroberts2643 Oh wow, that's an excellent saving, absolute bargain for this rig. Nice first crawler too. 👍 Yeah I really like the FCX18, prefer the LC80 over the K10. Personally I think the FCX18 is the best value and performing 18th scale rig, that's actually scale. With a few simple upgrades they're awesome. Some people have had issues, I've had none other than power switch with my LC80, but had drive train issues with my K10. Still better than a trx4m imo though. 👍 Hope that helps and thanks. 👍
Yeah, the axles are the same on this as the other CR18P's. I've got a video coming soon of a full RCAWD upgrade for it. Metal axles, drive shafts, links etc. 👍
Nice video! I just unboxed one of these, but haven't been able to actually run it yet. I'm anxious to put it up against my Furitek FX118 Fury Wagon and Redcat Ascent18, and see who comes out on top!
Hi Rob. The stock tyres are actually pretty good. Its the foam inserts that are way to hard. I'm running RCAWD 1.2" wheels and I stretched Injora 1" foams inside. Total transformation! P.S. The sticker that you have left over is actually for the rear bed.
Thanks very much 👍 Yeah they seemed OK, definitely better tyres out there though. I've ordered some new Injora tyres so will give those a try when they turn up. 👍
@@DoURC I'm also running Injora 1.3" wheels and Swamp claws outside and the stock tyres on inside stuff. Plenty of grip and grab onto almost anything. I might give the Cling ons a try soon.
@@DoURC The stock tyres and the Swamp Claws are pretty even on dry rocks and my indoor course. The stock tyres might just edge it. Any mud, algae, moss or damp, the Swamp Claws are way ahead! They have such an aggresive lug pattern they will grab onto any protrusion and they clear mud pretty well if you spin them up (stock tyres clog pretty badly). I used Injora foams from 62mm King trekkers, as I had replaced the foams with the Injora silcone inserts on my FTX Unimog. I already had the RCAWD wheels, as they were on the Unimog as well. I watched a couple of videos on the Evo pro from other TH-camrs who said the tyres were good but they need softer foams, so I just gave it a go and was really surprised how good they were. Really hope this helps.
Can't remember on the diff gears, but yeah bearings not bushings. I've already changed the wheels and tyres and it's a machine now. Will be fitting RCAWD metal axles this week too. 👍
@@Biolazard I just picked up a 6kg one off Aliexpress, similar to the Injora one. I'll be doing another upgrade video on this rig soon with the servo. 👍
I like the stock width, gives it nice side stability. I've upgraded the wheels and tyres on mine too and it's even more capable now. For the money I don't think you can get a better performing mini crawler right now. 👍
Thanks very much 👍 I got mine from Aliexpress, I would add a link but they never seem to work for Aliexpress. If you search on Aliexpress for CR18P Evo Pro, I saw one yesterday for $155 in their sale! 😱
I haven't tried the FX118 Katana, but if you look at it, I believe they share the same Hobbyplus chassis and Furitek electronics. So really the only difference is the wheels, tyres and body. Personally I'd choose the CR18P Evo Pro over the Katana. The Katana to me is like a kind of middle ground to scale and performance but I'm not fussed on the look. 👍
Ah excellent, they are really good. I've done a few tyre tests using it and swapping the wheels and tyres makes a massive difference. Also this Sunday I'll have an upgrade video up, metal axles and it's a machine now! 👍😎
@JiluMiah-ek2rd 🤣 Glad you enjoyed it that much, you came back for more! 🤣👍 I think the chassis may be shared across a few platforms. It's the same as the Furitek Katana and possibly the FX118. Just got some new wheels and tyres for it today, so will be a video on those soon too. 👍😁
You can get the v2 rear axle now for them without having to get the ridiculously overpriced alloy one to reduce that torque twist ,part # HBPLUS/240418 , $4 Great rigs but you can get the uk version now , FTX UTAH
Yeah, works out about the same price tbh, this and the UK one. Personally I prefer the look on the Hobbyplus one vs the FTX one. I've just fitted the RCAWD metal axles, video coming soon. 👍😁

Sounds like a beast. My first mods are definitely going to be wheels and tyres, then I think brass next. 👍
@@DoURCthe tires are quite good, it’s the foams that are too hard. I had a set of DJ foams, and what a difference, very supple tire.
This is a well made machine😎🤝👍

I like the adjustability of the shocks. That’s done well.

How you finding the Redcat? It looks good.

It's basically the same chassis as the FX118, just different body and possibly tyres. 👍
