    I’ll be continuing my R&B sound selection series next week! Just wanted to drop this quick 251 video as you’ll be hearing them throughout the series. The 3rd example is what I used in the intro of the last video and the pitched sine demo.

    thanks for these tutorials man. I actually have the opposite problem that you mentioned. Im completely self taught, and I learned to play chords with my left hand not my right, and I use my right to play licks/melodies over top. Trying to play chords with my right hand is so clunky, trying to train it. These videos give me something to practice with while learning a few new things. Really appreciate the content

      Hey man, glad you’re enjoying the content! It’s so interesting you learnt with playing chords in your left! I had to really start working on my left when I had to play two keyboards at church. Same as you, licks and melodies in the right on the top keyboard.

    that last segment got me thinking. when you’re actually playing chords in both hands, do you think of them in terms of the larger chord they create or the two individual chords? I tend to go back and forth personally when I notate, but that’s usually after the fact. I’m curious about your approach since you’re much better at playing in real time than I am

    • @stefanguy
      @stefanguy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yo KidGhost! I usually see them as one chord and split it in whatever way is most comfortable for me. Especially if I’m playing in a band or producing a track and there’s already bass. I’m often playing higher up the keyboard and I’m only using two hands because I absolutely have to lol. But to me it’s still one chord. I think splitting them is good just for memory sake whilst playing though.

    • @KidGhost23
      @KidGhost23 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@stefanguy that’s definitely something I gotta practice more intentionally. sometimes I practice chords by scale, other times I pick a chord and just transpose it around, not really sure which is more effective yet

    • @kendrick10601
      @kendrick10601 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Both are correct; I find it useful that a 1 bass(left hand) and 3 chord (right hand) = Major 7th
      So in C = C major + E minor = C major 7th
      1/3
      C/ E-G-B
      You can do the same with major 9th
      1/5
      C bass + G chord= major 9th

      Oh I get you. Are fellowing the finger suggestions? I think one of the things important to do with Melodics is to have high repetition. Even when you’ve passed a lesson, keep practicing until it becomes muscle memory and you don’t have to think about it. I think it’s easy to do a lesson, pass it and move on. When i’d learn a song, I’d play it over and over and the hand movement became easier and easier over time

    Stefan i love your videos but i need another kind of help.
    I feel completely cruched by the amount of music that is being produced today.
    More than 200k songes a day are uploaded on spotify + soundcloud alone.
    So, so, so Much great music, not even counting the amazing music of the past.
    I feel like there’s this huge conversation going on and me adding anything is pointless.
    It makes me want to cry, it’s almost psychaedelic in nature. Like watching the night Sky and getting hit by the monstruous collossal size of the universe, inflating to no end... kills my motivation to teach or play for people, im there playing strings for myself, wanting to dig in till death brings me peace. Spending it listening to stuff like flylo-reggiewatts-rebillet streams. Giving up to the beauty and just listening. Maybe it’s just a phase ? It’s been going on for a while in my mind, hopefully it doesnt infect you...

    • @stefanguy
      @stefanguy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Pierre Yves, thanks for this honest message. I totally understand where you’re coming from with the sheer amount of music being created daily. I find it hard listen to songs more than 3 or 4 times before moving onto something else just to keep up. But when it comes to my own creation of music, I try to forget about the numbers or the metrics or how many people are listening to it. Because that’s not why I started making music. I started making music because it was fun. And I started making TH-cam videos because it was fun. And I teach because it’s helping people, even if it’s just one. So even when TH-cam no longer is fun, there’s still that foundation too. Try to remember why you started playing music and why you teach. The numbers don’t mean a thing. Focus on the fun, focus on helping someone else and I promise you’ll find meaning in it again. And you'll find your audience by way of just being you and playing/making the music you want to make. I hope this helps. Keep your head up bro! And be sure to talk to someone professional if you need to 🙏🏾
