Band display by BWGS Girls (GYV)

School Band team of Bishop Westcott Girls' School is one of the well known school level- all girls' band team. Clad in Scottish skirt and Prince charles Jacket they have earned accolades in various band competitions. Every year on occasion of annual athletic meet, Republic Day and Independence Day celebrations they perform in the school.
Bishop Westcott Girls' School Namkom celebrated it's 41st Annual Athletic meet on the 5th day of December. The meet was presided over by Bishop of Chotanagpur diocese & president Bishop Westcott group of schools Rt.Rev. BB Baskey where as Academic Advisor to Governor, Jharkhand Prof. Anand Bhushan graced the occasion as chief guest. Principal of the school N Jacobs welcomed the dignitaries,parents and alumni and encouraged the participating students to put up a good show .
The event started with the welcome dance on Nagpuri beats-Hay re hamar sona Jharkhand by the senior students. it Was followed by hoisting of the athletic flag and releasing of balloons in the air. Star athletes of the school ran with the sports torch to ignite the sports day torch placed on the middle of the field. A colourful March past was performed by selected students of all three houses and 160 students of class 10. The March past was adjudged by Mrs. N Baskey , Mrs. L Terom Rev. A Barwa, Dr. N Vani, Ms. SK Bright ,Rev. J Kujur and Mr. M Rozario.
The first event of the meet was 50mts hurdles C B & A division followed by a performance by KG students based on theme "Save Water".
Students of class II sections A,B, C and D present a colourful dance cum drill based on the theme ' Joy to the fullest'. With English song Dirty bit and Waka waka in the background they demonstrated dill holding pom-poms in the hands.
Class III & IV presented a mass drill using decorated rings based on the theme "World Peace", While class V& VI came up with an award winning performance of mass drill based on western classical music and famous Hindi bollywood number --Jai ho... from slumdog millionaire. Students of class VII and VIII gave the message of--Stop deforestation save generation --through their colourful mass drill in encapsulating green attire. Besides there were performance on Yoga and Karate.
In this Video Students of all three houses- Faith, Joy and Peace participate in the closing march past under leadership of their respective house captains. Chief guest Anand Bhushan and host N Jacob, Principal BWGS Namkom, grace the colourful march past which also included a contingent of Class X girls who are all prepared to take the ICSE school finals in 2019.
