The slave market was dominated by Jewish who believe no Jew s not human. Also the protestant countries, joined in. But it s easy to track back who exactly, so those people, families ,including royal ones , also in Muslim and african countries where the kings were selling their own ppl like cattle should be charged with reparation.

Two hundred years of paying reparations to slave owners when Britain made them give up their slaves . Should we demand reparations for the decimation of the population by the Norman invaders or the Vikings , Barbary pirates who took British slaves, Roman abuses etc? Perhaps a charge could be made for the use of British inventions and the English language. Surely attention and efforts would best be used to put a stop to modern slavery and people trafficking particularly as the bulk of the British population at the period under consideration lived and worked in gruesome conditions with no political power to affect the actions of government or world practices.

Should India pay Britain for its wonderful railway infrastructure? You could argue that the Indians provided most of the manpower. But those railways would not have been built without British expertise. .... And should America pay Britain and the Dutch for pretty much inventing capitalism? .... It should absolutely be scrapped at this point. it was started with the just the nations with ethnic British diasporas (Canada, Oz, etc) which worked fine.
We then started letting in all of these other nations with no familial ties to Britain as a way to have soft power in these territories but it has absolutely been turned against us through our border policies and the amount of money they receive from us; they are now openly trying to hold us to ransom.
The common trope that these common wealth nations are all on our side and think of themselves as British should be absolutely clear to all now to be nothing short of a lie.

The activists conveniently ignore the fact that the supply of slaves for the international market was an African industry.
Effectively, Arabs, Africans and Europeans were equally involved in this obscene trade in human lives.
It was not a case of ships arriving, hunting down slaves and taking them without local involvement.
An existing abhorrent trade exploited a market and an existing abhorrent market exploited that disgusting trade.
Slavery didn't just spring up out of nowhere. It is a very ancient practice, many thousands of years old.
In the ancient world, slaves came from all ethnic groups and regions. So did slavers.
We can't change the disgusting activities of people long dead.
We can smash the people smuggling practices of today.
That is the only rational way to look at this subject.

    I don't think so.
"If it wasn't for Britain, the world would be entirely different "would be a better title.
Because the modern world looks like America, not Britain and America came to be as a reaction towards Britain, and the 20th century belonged to America 🇺🇸
I wish the modern workd looked more like Britain in a lot of ways but the world we live in today America built.

The rich get richer, the poor get poorer. There's plenty of money to go around but the rich and the government refuse to let it trickle down. Sooner you realize that, the better. In my opinion a big reason why this is, is the fact that big business has cheap immigrant labour available. Cheap labour brings down the market rate for everyone else applying to that job. Deport illegal immigrants and impose rules protecting the native British worker such as, that a business should have to first apply for a government grant before being able to hire/import cheap labour and then also that grant should have to be renewed every 2-3 years.

Trade unions want a big raise but they don't understand that you have to have a well functioning economy.
I want to short the FTSE but can't find an ETF in N.A. that will let me.
I will bet that it is going to go down after this budget, people in the UK might as well make some cash on it, because you are going to need it.
