When I first saw your videos, I couldn't believe it. Everything sounds so good together, especially how you're playing guitar into the mix. You're really paving the way, imo. Nice work!
Awesome. That bass is so deep. Overbridge sounds cool, the mix is flawless here (though never noticed wanting anything to be louder or quieter in previous jams).
Echoing what others have said but your jams are really awesome and one of a kind. I play guitar myself and am into electronic music and the way you fuse both together is so inspiring. Looking forward to an album I can buy ;)
I'm hooked on watching all your videos, it amazes me with the talent you have to create such art, how does one even begin to look into and learn about all of this equipment, I'm learning piano currently and would love to do something like this one day. Thanks, Kole
Hey, thank you so much! As for the equipment TH-cam is a great source for information, channels like Cuckoo and Ricky Tinez talk about this stuff while doing some cool music along the way, it's a bit overwhelming at first but I learned a lot that way. :)
I want to buy an electric guitar so bad, I've been playing acoustic guitar for like 5 years and I've been saving up. This makes me jealous. Awesome work 💪
@@lukebt yeah I've been thinking the same. With a proper setup, it will work good, btw I'm from Nepal and a cheap electric guitar will easily cost like 12 13k. And I can only save so little. I'm so in a hurry to buy my first electric.
I have to second the comment on Squier. My bass is a Squier from the 80s I believe, and I've verified that it sounds exactly like a "normal" Fender. And my first electric was a Japanese Jedson from the sixties which I still have and love and which are still widely available online for about 250 dollars (I think). You can get either telecaster or stratocaster type. And there are other affordable Japanese brands like Jedson if the vintage route appeals. But then even though a lot of these old Japanese guitars were well designed you may have to deal with unstable tuning, though replacement tuning strips are also available (used, of uncertain quality, look for rust in the photos). But a new or even used Squier will sound as good and provide stable tuning for much less than half the price.
Hey Aldo, would you mind sharing a breakdown of the skills you've had to develop in total to make playing these jams possible and fluent to you ? I'm very inspired as many others by what you do, having a blueprint of sorts would give us clear direction to what we should work on. Hopefully my request makes sense. Congratulations and thank you for sharing your sound.
Hey, I still consider myself as a noob but I guess I can try to answer that! I think you need 2 different sets of skill : the musicianship and the technical knowledge. The musicianship is the hard part and is a different journey for everyone as you can learn the classical way or on your own. I'm self-taught and my playing is super flawed but I've started guitar 13 years ago so I feel mostly comfortable on the neck. And I think that's the important part! Find an instrument where you feel comfortable, could be the guitar, your voice, the flute, the piano... I guess piano is a big plus as most virtual instrument are controlled with keyboard. From there you can create harmonies and melodies, which I guess is usually the first step to writing a song. I'm personally very bad at music theory but I would strongly advice to explore that area as it gives you so many tools to work with. AND PRACTICE YOUR RHYTHM. Aha, that's my only regret when it comes to music, I spent so many years practicing on my own without metronome or backing tracks, and my rhythm is awful now. I'm trying to fix it but dang, it's hard. So yeah don't forget about this
Aldo hi! First let me say I really like both the way you sound and the vibe of your music. That was a very clear answer. Yet, I’d like to have a few more answers if you don’t mind, concerning « live looping » (I’m trying to explore that technique). Are you playing 100% in a jam mode? Or do you have an idea of how your song will be built before you start? Knowing what instrument will come then (and so what machine you’ll be playing on then). Kind of the same question about music progression: do you plan the key and/or the chord progression? Hope I’ve made myself clear. Thanks again for your music and your videos. 👍
@@yvon1349 if he's like me he just jams out on the guitar and finds a cool riff or progression, then loops it and jams with his other gear until he's found a structure, sounds that he likes, etc.. Then most likely records the best take and tweeks any errors in post.
I'm sure I've said this before, but I really like the spirit and overall aesthetic of these live looping jams... More artists need to engage in-real-time with the tech they use like this. Well they sent it to me for free back when my channel started to blew up. :) So if anything I kinda owe them! Aha, I'm lucky, it's a great pedal for sure. Anyway thank you for the kind words man!
Just at 1:00 and already fall in love with it : ) By the way, by curiosity, how do you do to "instantly" record the sound of your guitar to make it a loop? I know that's sound stupid
Thank you so much, and it's not stupid at all! It's done with a looper, most of them come in the form of a pedal like the one I used (the TC Electronic Ditto X4) but you can also do it with softwares like Ableton Live. It basically captures a section of your sound and instantly plays it back on a loop, it's super handy when you play by yourself. :)
@@Aldoistaken Thank you for taking your time to actually read and answer my questions. I'm sure that pretty much everyone around here agreed that you're such good listener with your audience. Keep the hard work
Hey thank you so much! You can have a look at my guitar signal flow on that setup diagram I made > drive.google.com/file/d/1eNK9lqnV_50nCfz1aZGYLbvivxqMy7Fw/view I also add some plug in my DAW to shape the sound a little more so it fits into the mix better. :)
Are you using a mixer at all for this? How do you manage to get all of this into the 2i2? Are you connecting them together through midi and then to the 2i2. I've been trying to wrap my head around how to connect a bunch of devices and record but I'm fairly new to this, just looking to gain some knowledge. Thanks!
Hey, I don't use a mixer but for this one I used Overbridge for the first time. It's a software that only works with Elektron devices (like the Digitakt in this video) and allows you to record the sounds from that machine through USB. You can also use the Digitakt as a 2 inputs audio interface. So yeah I kinda cheated in this one, the Scarlett only records the guitar and all the rest goes through the Digitakt. :) If you want to record more than 2 audio sources with a Scarlett 2i2, you usually need a mixer yes. Some devices also have external input, so you could blend 2 audio signals together with that input and then record it with the Scarlett. The main drawback being that you can't change the individual level afterward. The Digitakt has external inputs, Pocket Operators too, it's quite a common feature these days. :) Hope that helps!
It is pretty expensive but on the plus side it can replace so many stuff, guitar pedals, synth, MIDI processor...
