Huawei Mate 50 Pro - Google Apps back thanks to LightHouse? Lets analyse it

- The LightHouse app is making some waves promising bringing back Google Apps to Huawei devices. In this video I talk about it and tell you why it is not the case and which alternatives are currently there.
My recommendation if you need Google Services. Put them in a box like GBox: www.gboxlab.com
Do you still need google services on your Huawei phone?

And yeah I am aware of the video jumping around. Thats some kind of issue with the P50 Pro stabilisation I assume. Just ignore it close your eyes and listen to what I am saying :)
i don t know why most like google play service, i have p40 pro plus and i like it without gms, no tracking no spy no google update without my permission....
Maybe you don't use apps that require Google services, but many people do.
Google is bad Gmail sells everything..but my P50 has WPS..petal my HUA meeTine..Huawei ID...which are intrusive..even not using audio or video apps it's impossible to change default...I prefer VLC or simple ABP but I have to remember to use them as the Huawei default apps are medioca
in my country, all (local) banking apps require this google garbage and won't work with huawei to create alternatives, nor satisfy customers without GMS. all this to satisfy their american puppetmasters.
could do the tricks to log in through browser and feed pin codes and other codes from security slips, but it's honestly too inconvenient nowadays.
Many non Google apps such as McDonald's, Ring Doorbell require GMS to run. I love to get rid of Google from my life but couldn't.

I was looking to degoogle my future new phone for the purpose of not being tagged & tracked by googler as such etc etc. I don't think I have to look any further than the Huawaei Mate 50 Pro, it's got all the hardware I love and it's google free .... a Godsend. Thank you for this video. GBox seems to be a real lifesaver for me. My phone (Mate 20 Pro) was stolen at a MILITARY hospital. My wife sold her Mate 20 Pro for a cheap price to me, but although they were bought in China at the same time, mine was an international version and Google services were no issue at the time.
Now I have spent at least 20 hours trying to get my American banking and security apps back.

I'm from Malaysia & user of Huawei Mate 50 Pro..using lighthouse very convenient, it runs on background and after setup it automatically log in to all my google apps..youtube, gmail, google meet, chrome, drive and others running well..

@@muhammadizuannadzri2877 i'm not sure about that, since i'm using only one google account for all the apps..but all your apps with google login can be use simultaneously and don't have to sign out, sign in again..

5:22 I see PlayStore in your video but on July 22,2023 there is no such App within Gbox on Mate50pro. .
So what now?
I had many apps like maps, kleinanzeigen, WhatsApp working without the necessary Google push notifications. Then I found a video recommending an old ver. of Lighthouse and after installing that with NO Google account the apps all started to work, sending notifications. This was especially important for my SIP telephone apps because they weren't ringing and WhatsApp hadn't been receiving messages when the phone was asleep.
So now, somewhere between an old lighthouse and Gbox the Google Mobile Services have magically started to work reliably on my Mate50pro!
Hey you done a great illustration of the workings of Lighthouse and Gbox. It's so great to see people still buying Huawei Phones. I wouldn't give up my mate 20 for nothing love your videos 👏🏽👏🏽
many thanks for the video, nice to hear there is a more optimized possibility as a workaround. i would need Gbox only for a banking application and for one app which can be used for receiving/sending money with a phone number.
the one with phone number worked without problems, but the banking application didn't let me open the transaction history. tried several times installing and uninstalling Gbox with varying options for all the permissions, didn't help. otherwise in general, it did work. didn't see if i could pay bills but QR and verification worked, also even between apps.
the phone was registered as MI 8 Lite, Redmi 8 and a Mi 10 Pro.
it still unfortunately is slightly useless in my case because of the crashing when trying to see transactions. not entirely functional but still good.
But I tried using and installing LightHouse through changing my region to Malaysia. My country is Philippines and my phone is Nova 9 Global with HOS 2.0.1 version. After the installation, I returned to my region Philippines. I installed Gmail (Gmail Go not working) and Gmeet through Apkpure app. Both apps are working smoothly.
Then please share the LightHouse apk you downloaded because its not working here and I tried several apks from LightHouse. Maybd AppGallery does something more when LightHouse is installed that I do not know

Folgendes: Ich stehe kurz vor dem Kauf eines Huawei Gerätes, bin aber auf zwei Banking Apps angewiesen, erstens N26 und zweitens ING. Kannst du das vllt mal mit GBox testen und schauen ob das läuft? Danke dafür im Voraus!

Da ist etwas schwer zu beantworten, da ich keinen Account bei den Banken habe. Aber N26, wenn nativ installiert erlaubt es kein neues Konto zu erstellen. Installiert man es via gbox funktioniert diese Funktion. Ähnlich ist es bei der ING App
it is working to my mate 40 pro cn only for playstore google photo google maps - not for youtube or other apps where need google services - but playstore working very good very fast - also i have gbox for this app only where need google services like youtube and some other apps where i cant find to app galley.

I also noticed that. Seems like the stabiliser had some issue. I also am wondering why as I could not reproduce that issue.
The app I need doesn't show up on GBox's Play Store. In Gspace I can add an apk to Gspace but there's no such option in GBox. Do you have any solution to this?
Ask the devs in their Telegram channel. They are fast to fix issues like that

I changed the region to Malaysia and downloaded lighthouse which is microg as you mentioned. And it doesn't work. I have to use GBox which works like a charm. The only problem for me is not apps or play store but the fact that I can't get push notifications for some apps unless I keep them open..
I have no issues with fbox and push notifications. Did you disable battery optimizer and enabled auto launch for gbox?
@@lltechview Yes, to clarify I get push notifications for some apps (WhatsApp, wechat) but not for some (Slack, Line, KakaoTalk). I've enabled battery optimisation, gave special access in accessibility too.

Yeah you can run it. But no Google apps work with it. You need to install it from Malaysian AppGallery and need the Google apps from it otherwise it will not work with Googel Apps from apkpure or aurora store.

I bought a P50 pro in malaysia last month drurin my holiday and came back australia had my phone reset, tho i could get rid some of heavily malaysian reconmended apps. unfortunely my lighthouse has gone, i still have it in MYS region and account i can search it but i cant open it also there no installation and i tho maybe was preinstalled with software,also cant find it in setting>apps, have you cam to this issue before?
Never had such an issue. Smells like a broken package install maybe

Yeah. AppGallery is preinstalled and if you log in via a local huawei account it shows you apps for your country

You can load gms full services in China bound model which has harmony os.. It works seamlessly..

i installed the apps from gbox and from app gallery store and still not receiving except when i open the app
First make sure that you have GBox version 1.3.31 installed or earlier. They switched from Google Play Services to Lighthouse/MicroG in newer versions that are not so compatible with all apps. Then the GBox app need to managed manually in App Launch aswell as Battery Optimization. The same applies for all other apps that you want to receive notifications. To make sure the app is not killed in the background you need to manage it manually in App Launch and Don't allow the Battery Optimizer killing the app.
Lastly if the notifications come in late it could be the app requires Google Firebase for push notifications (Twitter & Instagram for example need this). This you can achieve by installing microG. If you have already microG Vanced installed and you are logged in Vanced then you only need to install microG start it once do the recommended steps (again App Launch & Battery Optimization) and you don't need to login again (which might be not possible as Huawei devices need a special code for logging in) just start/restart the apps you want to receive notifications from (except GBox as this one is not using it).
Hope that this is understandable and compact enough for you to try and succeed
@@lltechview @Techview Podcast @Techview Podcast thanks for your effort in reply i appreciate that , the version that i have from gbox is 1.3.36 and i have stopped battery optimization for the apps that i want , when it comes to apps lunch i switched it to manual and activated the first and the third options ( don't know if i did it right ) and i will try to install vanced micro g and the changes that you mentioned and i hope things to be fixed with that

i got a notification saying tap here to disable battery optimization for microg when i tap on i don't find micro g in the list of all apps, do you have any idea about how could that be solved
Hi there, nice video. Just one clarification. Why do you think the light house only will work with modified google apps (to use lighthouse as the GMS) ? I am from Singapore and lighthouse is not available, unless I cancel my subscription and change to Malaysia just for the app. Yesterday I just found someone with lighthouse, quickly extracted and tried on my P50Pro. I just downloaded google home and youtube from APKPure to test and it works. Just curious if you have some specific reasons to say this only works with modified google apps. Thanks, great post.
Because I tried it out aswell and it did not work at all. It is microG based and microG works best with signature spoofing which is not possible with Huawei devices unrootable. Thats why I suspected together with some other people that it needs special Google Apps modified to work with it. My suspicion was backed by videos I saw from people in Malaysia downloading the Google apps via the AppGallery instead of ApkPure or AuroraStore.
If I am wrong I will update this video. But at this point it was the only viable explanation.
Now I am suspecting the AppGallery install of LightHouse might take care of it as AppGallery has the rights to change some system settings aswell that the APK alone cannot do.
@@lltechview Thanks for the feedback. When this was released in late Nov, earlier of this month, I was travelling and could not test. I met a guy and he happened to have installed Lighthouse, and I extracted the APKs to mine to test. I tested with standard google apps, namely youtube, gmail and google home and they both are just fine. I downloaded them from APKPure. Even before lighthouse, I have been using google chrome, maps, authenticator without any issues. However I noted google chrome is not synching (does not have latest passsords when I update them in other devices) and Maps do not have sign in feature as well, so any locations/favorites saved are not there. But both were just fine for normal usage of browsing and location/direction services. I have been using like that since 2020 May when I switch to P40Pro. So after I got lighthouse, I checked both Chrome and Google maps, and now they are synched and in maps I see all my saved places. As for the Gmail, it just works like normal GMS phone with notifications. So I do not think your claim for "modified google apps" only work. And I noted other changes too. for ex: Whatsapp now have the google backup options, I get notifications from my banking apps, linkedin, Yahoo mail, MS Teams even when they are not running. If you are keen, I can share and let's get them tested, so you can verify/clarify before you update. Or let me know any specific app that I can also try.

@@lltechviewthere's one thing where you're wrong. Google maps and Chrome don't require gms to work, however, impossible to log in but these 2 apps do work on Emui 12 and 13

Hi, you need to change your region to Malaysia. Moreover Lighthouse will only be available for non-Chinese/Global models of P50, P50 Pro, Mate 50 Pro, matepad pro 126, etc.
I was able to get Lighthouse working on my P50 model ABRLX9.
Lastly once Lighthouse is correctly installed, you may install the Google APK files from any source even APKPure or Aurora, in addition to Malaysian AppGallery.

I see. So Huawei enabled spoofing on EMUI for microG to work. So I have to wait for EMUI13 to be released for my global P50 Pocket

Why do you need to wait for Emui 13? Is your P50 pocket on supported list of LightHouse? My P50 is only Emui 12 and works

1) change region to Malaysia for all three places in Settings, App Gallery and MyHuawei
If still no luck,
2)create new Malaysian Huawei ID with different email account.

Hi there. My Chrome doesn't load via GBox, have you faced any issue with this? Other browsers working just fine.
I had version 1.3.6 which worked fine. There is a newer beta version available (via Telegram GBox Channel) that fixes this issue afaik.
Thanks for replying. So far I tried reinstalling whole Gbox (what a hassle) and reinstalled Chrome within Gbox, it just stuck at 98% installation... On Mate50Pro...

Got may lighthouse +aurora store works like magic. .
I found that GBox app has issues with Gmail. In fact Gmail still doesn't work on my Mate 30 Pro 5G HarmonyOS. Also I noticed that pretty much all these GMS emulators using one trick - they are spoofing google by replacing the real device name with the one which supports GMS (usually Horror phones) :)

Die chinesische Version kommt mit HarmonyOS und das ist auch was bei mir läuft. Sprich gbox und gspace klappen auf jeden Fall.
Wie es mit Lighthouse aussieht weiß ich nicht, da es bei mir nicht klappt.
Kunlun Glass gibts nur bei der veganen Leder Version, also der Orangen.

It does matter if phone has Chinese or global rom. If you have installed Harmony OS you will have different kernel than EMUI and you can do signature spoofing, EMUI does not permit this.
So far I did not see HarmonyOS allowing this

Mate 50 Pro ganz klar. Kurz vor dem P50 Pro. Das Vivo x80 Pro ist gut für Fotos versagt aber aus meiner Sicht bei Videos ein bisschen

@RJK01 Maybe its a EMUI13 vs HarmonyOS 3 thing and Huawei enabled Spoofing on EMUI13 which makes it possible on this device. I am not sure I have more than 1000€ lying around here somewhere to fetch a Mate 50 Pro "Global" version with EMUI13 to try it out.
But if someone has EMUI13 on the Mate 50 Pro in Europe and wants to check it out. That would be cool.
Is there an alternative tts voice I can choose ?? Google has the best ..for me..I've had to listen with Samsung...it's ok..but I prefer...with heuwei I can ONLY have the Chinese voice which is dreadful..impossible in anything other than Chinese..I haven't found I Chinese to ask yet

You can install the Google TTS without LightHouse or Gbox or any other GMS option

I've tried again I can't change lfltec engine.thats cool reader but the others TTS are the same or no engin at all on the P50
@@savayemerson4338 Download Google TTS via Apkpure or Aurora Store. Then in settings search for text-to-speech and change the default TTS there. You can even configure Google TTS and download TTS packages

I installed Google Map on my Huawei Mate 50 via lighthouse. Works well EXCEPT for the Google Map Location History that is disabled and I can't turn in on. It gives a message "Failed to launch application". Any work around ?

I personally suggest you keeping your S22U until Huawei's next 5G phone, which is rumoured to be the Mate 60 Pro
