    Great video, thanks. You managed to make the belt location look effortless, but I struggled a bit even with the pipe. As a few have said, aligning the front panel and vent pipe on re-assembly was quite tricky and needed extra hands. Got the job done though and working perfectly so, thank you very much.

    The video was excellent, took it apart in the same order as the video, simples! After putting on the belt, which i have to admit nearly gave me a hernia the next bit was extremely intricate and probably needed to show more detail, as the drum locates onto 3 pads just beneath the drum rim whilst putting the the felt part of the door into the drum at the same time as locating the front panel into the 2 slots at the bottom and also locating the vent tube. WOW it was pretty difficult to line everything up in one go. But could never have achieved it without watching this so thanks.

    Excellent instructional video. The step by step process was a great help. I have saved several pounds by following the video. Many thanks. One small tip. The belt was very difficult to stretch over the motor spindle, even using a length of 15mm copper pipe. Finally managed it after warming the belt, in situ, with a hair dryer for several minutes whilst rotating the drum and belt by hand. Mind you I was enacting the repair in a cold utility room. Thanks again guys.

    Thanks for the video. I just repaired mine and the two difficulties I had was getting the new belt onto the motor (even with a tube) and lining up the vent tunnel. I had to remove the other panel to help align it. Took me about an hour to do. You professionals make it look so easy!

    Thanks for this tutorial. You saved me a lot of money, time and effort. Your trick with the tube and taking the side off was the winner. I'd managed just about everything else but stretching the belt over the motor had defeated me.

    Followed these fantastic tutorials as best I could. Took all the screws out and all the sides fell off so it's been sitting in the hallway for 2 days, looking like something out of Wall-E. Now my wife tells me it's a new tumble drier or she walks.

    The belt does take a few minutes to get right and the grooves correspond to the drive, so really obvious.

    Thanks mate, great video!
    I have an Indesit IDVA 735, and it looks similar enough (apart from the front panel buttons).
    I didn't get hold of the new belt yet so I don't know how hard it is to put in place. I gathered from various forums that it was very hard. I'll definitely use the tube trick.
    Thanks again from France!

    Thank you so much. It now works. Took me some time as it was very difficult to put the belt as I do not have much strength. Finally managed by removing the front entirely so I could bend the drum, and removing entirely the big exhaust. It was quite a job to put it all back together but required less strength than your method. Still, I'm very grateful. Thanks again.

    Great video, very well done. I learned a lot just by watching. My question is that I have an older model, around 2000-2001, cant read any of the numbers on the unit to be more specific for you. I'm praying that the belt will have readable numbers, but do you have a video for the older models of Hotpoint.

    Hi have followed all instructions and manage to fit new belt and put back together but when I came to test it it just bleeped at me when I pressed the start button. All the lights are on but just will not start. @MrTrotter2 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Very good video really usefull however you stated that its a good idea to check the rear bearing at the same time which I agree with seeing as this is also a major cause of the belt snapping due to drum jamming but you didn't show this in the video

    • @How-to-repair
      @How-to-repair  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      the main reason the bearing and the belt goes is that the design has to much drum tension on them. any way we are not the builders of this appliance only the repairers so here is a video on how to rebuild the drum How to rebuild a tumble dryer that’s not turning or noisy Hotpoint, Indesit, Creda, Ariston etc

  • @citizenrebel
    @citizenrebel 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Excellent! But now that I am into it, does the groove side of the belt go on the drum? There are two sides - one smooth and the other with ridges. It appears from the video that the ridges go down, but...? Also, my belt is a good 3 cm shorter than the broken used belt. I do hope it stretches the 7-8 cm to the motor spindle and that it does not wreck the machine if it is too tight. Yes, I verified the codes and models. We shall see. Thanks for everything.

    • @citizenrebel
      @citizenrebel 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is the groove side down according to another site. But it does seem to want to be on the spindle groove and a little bit of the smooth part in order to remain on the drum marking. I suppose machinery is not perfect like people are, right? lol

    • @citizenrebel
      @citizenrebel 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had to use a screwdriver. No tube available. It did pull on the motor assembly a bit. I will reassemble and fire it up. Boom!

Always called it a fascia myself, and you should vacuum, not Hoover, since Hoover is just a brand name even if it has entered the consciousness as a verb too.
