Went to a thrift store and got a real HR Giger Necronomicon book for $0.99. What happened to it? Well, I was going through a phase, and was praying to God when something (what I thought was the book) hissed at me. Afraid of what happened, I put the book in the recycle, burying it in the bin so no one would come by and retrieve it. I regret having done that. :P
These are rare, but not super rare. I have one in the box with the poster that I got in 1990 from a Scifi toy dealer. They pop up on ebay all the time. I had one as a 6 year old in 1979, but my mom took it back to the store because I would get scared of it at night. As far as I know this was the first toy marketed from a rated R movie.
I still have mine and it's in mint condition. My dad bought it for me when I was 11 after we went to see the movie. I'm 53 now and have it stored away.
Super nice review. I have a long history with this toy. They are desirable and expensive but not very rare. There seems to be 5 to 15 on ebay at any given time. Definitely way more than 15 complete in the box still around. I would think well into the hundreds if not more. Some Kenner records suggest that around 150,000 of these where made and although they did not sell well and where deeply discounted when new there is no evidence that any where destroyed before being sold.
I still have mine I received for christmas as a 9 year in 1979. Still has its original helmet. It was probably the first toy for adults from a R rated film aimed at kids. I remember seeing a big stack of them in Target. Mine also came with a poster that I sadly no longer have. Spring loaded arms. Mine has rubber band attached to hooks holding the arms to the body
Funny I have one that is still zip tied to the the box. My mother told me when I was a kid not to play with it and some day it would very valuable! Plus after watching the movie, it creeped me out, so it went to the back of the closet.
I have been a fan on alien and aliens since day 1 I only just found out they have eyeless skull that was suppose to be visible I thought the xeno head was completely black/brown
Yo hoy mismo lo conseguí en el tianguis de la Y griega por 50 pesos pero sin la liga de sus brazos pero completo solo es conseguir una liga y ponerle los brazos y listo
@@GriffinPierson Hi, so.. How did Kenner was able to make Alien action figures!!?? That movie isn’t a PG-13 movie, well it would be PG-13 now. I think. Pretty crazy. Also I saw Alien Convent was I was like 9 or 10. Traumatised and scared that when my dad smokes, an alien might come out, 😂. Btw I have the 1993 Kenner JP Red T-Rex and Triceratops in great condition. Love what Kenner made! Much better than Mattel’s T-Rex figure. Btw I am a massive Jurassic Park fan.
Definitely way more than 15 complete examples existing out there. I’ve seen 2 complete here in Ohio in the last year. After 25+ years of looking I finally picked up one myself.
I remember seeing this on the shelves in the gift shop at Miami Airport when I was a kid; creepy as hell. Wished I’d have got my dad to buy me one.
I just got mine complete and ziptied as well as the poster/instructions. Amazing
I’m jealous!!
@@GriffinPierson I need the acrylic case lol. What are your dimensions?
I got it awhile ago and I was just looking for the email... unfortunately I can't find the correct dimensions. Im sorry! @@multanemo

Forget Necronomicon. The Bible is better for you, anyway.
@@rjmacready8830 You're right about that. :3
My cousin & I both got one new when we were kids. It came w/ a small black & white poster.
i had one as a kid, it used to give me nightmares with the glowing head.
I wish I still had it
The skull in its translucent head scared the hell out of me when I was a child.
I remember seeing these on the shelves at Karl's Toys in the Orange Mall in California. I don't remember wanting one.
That's great!!.....appreciate that you removed it from packaging to show us a closer look 👍
You have to get a good look at this guy! Only right to take it out of the package

as a kid I used to go to bed with mine.
Damn that figure is crazy!!!! I didn't even know it was a thing

That’s so awesome🙌🏼🙌🏼
A great review & I loved the movie as a kid.

Kind of frightening but so dope!

I wish I knew them what I know now. I would have collected these toys as opposed to actually playing with them. I would have made a small fortune.😭😭😭
Is that a Kaiser doll stand holding him up? I use one for the 1/4 NECA Alien "Big Chap". It works great!
It is!! It’s perfect
I have two as they were sold off cheaply in England back in 1980 my cousin didn’t want his so I got his as well as mine 😊

Ok I still have mine from a kid . All parts saved it over the years still a big hit with guests lol .
Keep it forever!!
@@GriffinPierson heck yeah ! Lol .
You know what makes it rare? Rarity. I don’t care how iconic it is; rarity is a matter of scarcity.
Fair statement🙌🏼

That’s what I figured 😂 But such a great piece!
You made the right decision Funkopos are shiiiitttt.
They are not what they used to be! Pops were fun to collect when they first came out
@@GriffinPierson they're cynical marketing fluff.
Let me borrow it and play with it
🤣🤣🤣🤣...no😐
This toy is extremely fragile, especially now with how old it is and the brittle hollow plastic it's made of. Mine stays in the box.
