How much radiation is involved in a CT colonoscopy? It is ionized radiation, correct?
So if a polyp is detected during a virtual colonoscopy, you would then have to under go an optical colonoscopy? Seems like doing the same thing twice.

Hi Sarah, Virtual colonoscopy uses low dose of radiation. Patients will be exposed to more radiation than a chest X-ray, but far less than a regular CT scan. If a polyp is detected patients will likely undergo an optical colonoscopy. Best wishes to you.

Hi i had traditional colonoscopy then after 4 months later i had virtual colonoscopy so far they didn't find anything no infection no polyps my first traditional colonoscopy doctor took biopsy for extra tests my pathology report good but issues found that my sigmoid colon tortus and extra long lopps that's why he referred virtual colonoscopy but same results my prixmal faecal loading heavy it shows on virtual colonoscopy so my worries are within five months time two different colonoscopy done would they be any problem to my colon i mean any complications or may be my colon becomes more sensitivity was it safe ?
