You got the principle all right, just watch where you name the hypotenuse on the board...
Remember that the 2 cylinders 5" appart are the ones climbimg at the angle...

Great concept, I never know what I’m talking about but if I pretend hard enough I start to believe myself.

Nice plate nice size love the bottom plate with the cris cross pattern (little squares remind me of lapping plate look to me) and specialized angle flat corners. We are for sure in school here. We have it RandR kept secure in the vault here. Wondered why it says Ford thank you for that share about the drive shafts. Actually nice lesson, some people like to make things tough so you depend on them or fear trying it yourself, that is how I feel so thank you for sharing Dan.

Thanks guys. One day I will get the bench cleared for more than a few minutes. So warm in the basement as opposed to outside....brrr! I looked at a lot of sine plates. This shop made piece was pretty and reasonable.
My wife kidded me - "another video... you aren't that interesting- LOL". Yup honey, its like hanging out with friends and not leaving the house. Thanks for watching!

Nice looking sine plate. I use blue magic metal polish on all metal and I’ve yet to not be amazed. I’m betting one application on your plate would make believe in the stuff. I don’t even touch steel wool blue magic is my go to.

on your diagram you have your 5 inch dimension on the adjacent side of triangle it should be on Hypotenuse.

William Thrasher - Thank you - I told everybody I forgot a lot.

Noticed the same thing, even, though Dan kinda knew how to apply the principle, would be misleading for a newbee... ;)

For some reason a faceless math problem gives me more trouble then a math problem involving something I’m working on. A “known variable” means nothing to me. The length of this object has meaning to me. Objectively they are the same, and I know this. Yet one I can solve easier then the other.
Hope that makes sense. Or... sorry if it does. Not sure which is more appropriate.

Grip Side - Amen, you made perfect sense. Sort of why the sine table made more sense than a pile of problems asking exactly the same question. One I can prove - the other is just theory.

Thats wierd, the old comment dissappeared. But yea, if you take the gauge blocks and turn the top one 90 degrees, then press down and twist it back together parallel with each other, it'll ring together pretty much every time.
And if your coming to use to confirm that your doing it right and expect most of us to know what we're doing when it comes to that confangled math stuff, I guess everyone's screwed then, lol.
