I am so happy that this movie exists for mothers who have these feelings so they know they are human and not bad people.
This film was so satisfying. It feels so real, but not in an intentional, distracting way. It also feels like something that's never been told before, and expressed like this. Dakota and Olivia are such a fascinating, unexpected contrast.
An incredible film with such a fresh perspective. I've never seen anything like it
I'm glad Maggie made her first movie on Netflix, whose cast is unbelievable, and to be honest, they found the right actresses for every role, which were Olivia, and Dakota. Well the only thing I can say on Dakota is she's so adorable, I can't even imagine her angry, sometime I feel like hugging her because of her tenderness that she transmit on screen.
Don't forget Jessie Buckley, pairing Jessie and Olivia to play the same character in different age was absolutely genius. Jessie got an Oscar nomination for this which is amazing
Gotta hand it to you, Netflix: this was the best film of 2021. Nice little doc; it was cool to see the editor and composer!
What a wonderul film, you don’t usually see female characters who are so complex and unapologetically unlikeable,
this movie really was extraordinary and a breath of fresh air, the cast was marvelous and Maggies directorial debut is outstanding

The Lost Daughter was phenomenal, as a feature debut, Maggie Gyllenhaal did a fantastic job for her writing and directing although I do liked her writing more than her directing in this movie
Olivia is such an amazing actress…hope she wins the oscar
Another amazing actress in this movie that is not mentioned enough is Alba Rohrwacher. Her short scenes as the hiker is so poignant for Leda’s character building.
Magnificent film that doesn’t let go.

Я посмотрела её всю, и хочу сказать, что она шикарная. ❤ Единственное, что помешало мне выставить ей наивысший балл - это вопросы, которые возникали, на которые не смогла найти ответа... Может быть, мне поможет ответить на них книга. Так что, я уже её читаю, в процессе, в общем! Тем более, что давно хотела познакомиться с автором!

Отложила "на чутка" (как казалось) чтение книги (в оригинале), и вспомнив недавно, решила, что возьму в библиотеке на русском языке (но у меня параллельно сейчас - внезапно (хотя, вообще-то, наконец-то, ура, давно ждала этого момента) - столько книг, что я не знаю, когда и что прочту - раньше/позже). Хорошо, что нашла. Это уже меня греет! 😇 Жалко, что не смогла Вам, толком, подсказать ничего... Но, что успела прочитать (в начале) - там более расширенная версия происходящего! Ах, да, об этом же говорила одна девушка на ютьюб (она психолог), которая уже прочла книгу в оригинале (совершенно забыла об этом что-то). 👍 @@dariosergevna

Обожаю искать что почитать или посмотреть, но не делаю этого :) есть такой терапевт Alan Robarge -therapist reacts вроде так называется его анализ фильма The lost daughter. Я тоже думала пойти в библиотеку почитать, но не знаю, есть ли в оригинале. Пока нашла тут у себя аудиокнигу на шведском. Почему-то переводится как Потерянный ребенок (не дочь). Надеюсь, это та же книга 😅🤞 а та терапевтка анализирует книгу или фильм?

Ох, было бы как здорово обменяться этими книжечками. Ибо я англ.версию долго искала, но нашла - главное теперь её отыскать среди прочих на телефоне... 😂 А та девушка ведёт канал на русском, говорит про фильм, но и книгу упоминает - прям, совсем чуть-чуть. Жаль, у неё так мало подписчиков... Там фильмы интересные на анализ идут. Как всегда, хочу потом ещё что-нибудь посмотреть... Но планов до этого - очень много! 🙈 @@dariosergevna
The movie reminds me of a Woody Allen movie called “Another Woman”. Deals with a similar fascinating woman around the same age dealing with similar issues.

Any movie that leaves me thinking so hard, I appreciate. I hate how I cheered for these heavily flawed, terrible, wonderful, characters. I love to leave a movie slightly unsatisfied. Very thought provoking.
I have to say all the actress are incredible on this film. But I must say Dakota's Johnson was a surprise, I never knew she can play a role like this.
i hated the character of Leda, what an awful, selfish woman. I loved every minute of the movie because of it. It felt raw, intimate, brutally honest, human and fearless, disturbing even. Amazing acting! I adored every close-up of all the three characters.
Just imagine what it’s like to be Maggie and have Peter be your husband 🥰I always felt they were just like ugh most ideal couple… and they are still married for so many years… :)

I think this "mother' is so self absorbed that she should never have had children. Her daughters were often ignored and ultimately abandoned. The character Nina looked drugged or spacey with the long stares. This pretentious , endless analysis of a mediocre film and making it into some kind of intellectual triumph is mind numbing. It was awful.
Hey - it is fiction...? It is storytelling.
