Absolutely stunning Phil, the view of the river and the station at Llangollen ranks amongst the best anywhere. I travelled the entire length from Wrexham to Barmouth in the early 60s with my grandfather driving, complete with cab ride at Barmouth.
Thanks Kevin. Yes it certainly does, along with Berywn station? Sadly I never got to travel on the whole line, but it must have been a great line. Great experience for you too with your grandad.
Grew up in Chester, spent every spare time following or working on the railways, l was fortunate my uncle lived in Ruthin , so was never too far away ,l have lived in nz since 92, but looking forward to coming back one day 😊
Used to take the kids on the Santa Special every year. They loved it. They're all grown up now, but still mention it. It's all voluntary, i know. Lovely memories. Thankyou xx
Great video work I live next to Gloucester and Warwickshire steam railway and there not a patch on the Llangollen railway and I can't wait for the corwen opening to happen,
Thirty years ago I was second chef in the Chain Bridge Hotel, Llangollan, they gave me a beautiful little cottage to stay in a few hundred yards down stream of the river. I had the river just outside my front door and the canal outside my back door, it was heaven.
The DMUs down there at7:15look well kept. One of them looks like a Cravens; I thought there was only one of those surviving, at the ELR. There's another, then?
They did a few years ago, to a temporary platform, but that has been removed, and they have been working on the new station at Corwen. Due to open next year.
Great they were able to keep going despite all the financial difficulties, a cracking line, hopefully if they get back on their feet in the future more securely they can get a railcar event again, thanks for the upload.
I was there on the Saturday, so sorry we missed each other. However, I've uploaded a post on my new Community Tab page on my channel. I've also uploaded my own encounter with the same engine. Visit Kelly Ashford Trains to see them and comment on them. You might be jealous of my two footplate photos, as on 5th November, I was invited into the engine's cab for a long wonderful moment.🙂

They do look good! 3 Cravens cars survive, 1 here, and as you say 2 at the ELR

Don't they run to Corwen, then? Carrog has been to run-round point for years!

They have a grand opening planned for next spring, I believe
