what people don't realize about Willam is that they are not the bratty and brazen queen the show edited her to be. She stands up for her sisters, calls out BS that hurts the LGBTQ+ community, and is really good to her fans. She is the queen of the people Ru thinks she is

watching this interview makes me really think that Willam was telling the truth about what happened with Mathu Andersen.
I like that Willam still admits that RuPaul gave her a platform. That humility gives a layer of authenticity to everything she said before that

Well, she does correct herself. That RuPaul's Drag Race gave her the platform. Ethan Petersen is the name of the Casting Director. Not RuPaul. If RuPaul actually picked the queens, she would know their backstories and likely have a better chance of remembering who the hell they are.

I will say the only thing that made all stars good was that whole first episode of untucked. But to be fair I think that Willam would’ve made more iconic episodes had she been there
She was taken off because phi phi was suppose to be on all stars 1 but got arrested. Production was gonna push those two to be partners or just another storyline and since phi phi wasn’t on, they decided to cut willam. They need a replacement so they got mimi.

@@GeoWi-eq3sz it started in 2008 when he was found guilty of stealing from his employer, then when he was on probation for that broke the probation by driving drunk, was told to go to rehab by probation officers, moved to Chicago instead so they issued a warrant for his arrest, he got the RuPaul gig and competed there, went on tour with the Ru girls and then finally was arrested in Texas after flying back from Canada

They were trying to take advantage of the girls by giving the minimum of everything. Minimum food. Minimum respect.
I knew that they liquored them up in earlier seasons to get maximum drama, but nutritional deprivation is an unexpected low.
No wonder contestants be crying or yelling at the drop of a hat, they're frickin hungry.
Damn now I feel guilty for watching and supporting the show all these years. Hope things are better behind the scenes and the queens are treated better now.

A lot of reality type shows do this cause it isolates/alienates people so it gets better reactions from them during filming. But this just sounds really unprofessional of the show
I love Willam. My kid was working as a cleanup person at a theater in sf and Willam was getting ready. He was interested in drag and Willam stopped everything and showed him how to put on OCD lip gloss. He is a kind and gentle soul, with just the right amount of mischief

Say what you want about Willam, I know this an old interview at this point, but they really did her fucking dirty. Think about it, if that were your job, your occupation, your bread, you would be fuming. So, it's great that she acknowledges the platform that made her, but the ones who have the power to construct these platforms in the first place, need to be better.
Does anyone think it's weird Willam has a bunch of different explanations. Like "I was fighting for good treatment" but also "I wanted to get kicked off" but also "I gave it up to be on Broadway."

Latrice said she didn't like Willam in the beginning but that they became friends, and this change didn't happen on screen, which makes me believe that once Latrice saw Willam stand up for her she realized that he was worth giving a chance and that's how they became friends.
What I'm trying to say is: with this line of logic, it makes sense that Willam was being honest here.
And honestly it gives me more respect for him as a person or color that even though he and Latrice might not have been on the best of terms, that he stood up for her. I understand why Latrice would be friendly with him after he showed his heart

Ru had to deal with very tough times while rising to fame so I definitely think she had to get tough to get by, she didn't get where she is now by being nice but I also think that kind of environment made her very bitter and mean. She doesn't care about anyone else besides her.

My god, Willam has been keeping and fighting for these shocking secrets for years. You can tell she really cares for her drag sisters as well as her own self. This is why I also love her.
Willam is sincere and kind and her persona is abrasive and brash. I’ve met her on a few occasions after shows and she has always been kind and funny and takes the time to talk to all her fans. Willam is a class act through and through.
This really is no shock at all. Many other 'reality' tv shows have horror stories of the shitty producers that work on the shows and make the talents life a living hell, all for the sake of ratings... SMH.

I honestly used to not live for Willam. I’ll admit I was judgmental. But the fact that she did all this stuff to stand up for herself and her sisters, my respect is so high.

The problem with [most] reality TV shows is the cast is usually treated like garbage. They aren't given a VIP luxury experience like A list celebrities would because let's be real, most people who sign up for reality TV start out with little to no following.
They're psychologically manipulated/abused by producers into stirring shit up for entertainment value. Their phones are confiscated, and aren't allowed to talk to anyone outside of the show while filming (which can sometimes be months at a time). Cast members that are voted off/lose, regardless of if they are the first contestant booted, or the last, have to sit in a hotel room with no communication with the outside world until the show wraps - for fear that they might leak information. This has been going on for decades, and it's kinda crazy how no one really talks about it. If they do, no one really listens.

Respect for Willam’s humility and real ness always. One video of RuPaul that I always remember is from 5ninthavenueproject, where Nelson was recording Ru, mid 80’s, when she was on the struggle bus working her way up. She had finished her performance and was tired and complaining about the crap she had to put up with. All valid and real. But sometimes when people are at the tip top, they completely forget what it felt like at the bottom.

I love Willam, she's so funny, and I love how supportive she is with other race contestants. I saw her first on Eastsiders, and she's the reason why I started watching Drag Race.
I was a queen for 20 years, followed Willams Career b4 and after drag race..knowing her style and how she operates within the ideas of professionalism and morality I can say 3 thing. 1. She may piss u off or whatever but she is a genuine person. She always backs up the point she is trying to make with legitimate reasoning and truth. 2. When drag race gave the explanation to WDWD..i said bullshit. My drag kids said at that time "u dont think thats what happened"? I said no, I guarentee thats not real...doesnt match who willam is...i said i bet she either had a higher profile oppotunity and had filming date issues or peopme got sick of her being real and not taking reality show abuse. And 3...if she says it, whether u like it or agree with it I guarantee u its truth. Ive yet to see her confronted with anything and give anything but 100% truth. Willam deserves to be on AllStars and deserves respect. Maybe her skills aquired arent typical pageant drag but that all improved over the years and the bitch is fierce. I kept hearing phi phi and Sharon drama was fake but Willam and phi phi really hated one another.
Joseph did a full interview with Phi Phi and they are actually good friends. She’s sometimes featured on Race Chaser (Willam and Alaska’s podcast). Of course with cameras on you, you’re making tv. So was the sharon and phi phi drama amplified on their part? YES. But wouldnt you do the same? Producers love that and will often push for more cause its tv gold. And thats what they did which obviously makes it more interesting for them both to proceed as far as they did... the finale.
It speaks very highly of Willam to say that she wouldn’t be where she is without Drag Race.

That ending was pretty damn cool. Even after everything negative that has happened and that William saw, the fact that she still gives credit where credit is due is very refreshing and shows how big of a person she is.
I am not a fan of hers but I believe everything she has to say Stacey season 3 said she also was told she was gonna be on AS4 sign everything had everything packed then pulled her last minute

Honestly, William has been one of my favorite queens to watch since the show! Coming up through drag in the non traditional route... you could tell he was somewhat envious of the drag family sisterhood he missed out on. Regardless of whether or not this was authentic or just a narrative that production amplified, they just strike me as one of the most authentic, generous, and loyal ‘ride or die’ friends you could have. Someone who you don’t have to wonder where you stand with and who’s honesty is intended to help, not hurt. And so supportive of others in the industry with his promotion of who to see where too!
I’ve listened to a lot of interviews and I can understand why some who haven’t- might have the perception of a brash comedic wild child but I see them as a highly intelligent and independent individual with a huge heart (while, of course, also being incredibly talented and entertaining).
