Shine never charted in the UK or US it should have done , yet they performed on it Soul Train which is good . They were known as the UK's Jackson 5. Always be a fan they are /were great , wish they had longer success
One of the rare times that the soul train audience was completely focused on the group and not dancing. Man, us Americans really missed out by not supporting 5 Star back then!
dadevi your having a laugh it only takes a few quality groups to make them the best at what they did in that time and that genre of music. Loose Ends , Projection,52nd street nailed it. You lost that debate 😁
No one outside of Britain has ever heard of those groups, outside of loose ends. Respond when you have the British answer to Destiny's Child, New Edition, En Vogue, Blackstreet, 112, and Xscape. And I dare you to find the equivalent to TLC. Good luck!
It's a damn shame Motown didn't pick them up. I am pretty sure with Motown production, songwriting teams, (along with "Smokey Roberson"), could of made them much bigger stars then they were. Their stage act is much better then DeBarge's, and a few other Motown acts. They were right up there with Motown's best acts. All they needed was a good company behind them. Seeing them here, makes me sad, seeing how far they could have gone, and the potential that they had. Love you 5 Star
What I Love about this song is that it has a Karen white feel to it, produced by baby face and L.A. Reid. Also they wrote and produced it too??? BAD!!!!
Wow... what an awesome performance. Doris nailed the choreography and they danced their butts off and Lorraine's vocals are amazing.... this song shoes that she can really sing. Thanks for posting.
Damn!!! This dance routine is one of the best routines I've ever seen, on point all the way through. This is up their with The Jacksons, or even better then The Jacksons during the same time period , that they, were out.
Still a stunning performance the shine album is an album every five star or pop and soul fan should own the groups dancing was spectacular in this performance the shingle Shine should have been massive i still adore playing it.
In my opinion, this is when Denise should have gone solo. She has an amazing voice and electrifying stage presence. She could have given Janet Jackson some competition back in the 90's.
I don't think so, she would have had to try really really really hard to touch The Queen in the 90s during the 1814 era. That would have NEVER happened. Janet was killing it in the 90s!!!!!!!!!! I like Denise, but that would have NEVER happened. Everybody was already trying to imitate Janet and the Jackson's back then!
If you saw the "What Happened to 5 Star" documentary, when they did this album, it did not chart! The record company heavily promoted it, yet it never reached any charts🥺 So she would have had to come with a different approach as a solo artist!
@@synthesizerisking2886 That’s because she was a group not solo. They came at a time when it was too well established in RnB and they had more pop songs in the UK that were very very successful. Also, Janet cannot sing. Denise sounds way better plus she can dance. Let’s not forget. Janet had at least two albums that flopped before she debut with Control. I agree, Denise may not have been past Janet but she most certainly is a better singer. Way better.
I love this group they are all beautiful. I always had a crush on the oldest brother, yes that the was the good old days when people really sang and dance and they were actually good. this group is excellent!!!!
Delroy was exaggerating a bit on that part. The album was produced by Ian Prince (including this song), Zac Harmon & Christopher Troy, and Peter Bunetta & Rick Chudacoff. However, group members did write some of the songs on the album.
Why didn't Denise go Solo? Great voice, nice stage presence ...same for Elizabeth from The JET!!!!!???😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤ they both would have made solo hits, who knows!!!???🤔
Please stop comparing them to the Jackson family. Their dance moves are different then the Jackson's. Yet, their are some similarities between the musical performances, they are really quite different. They were inspired by the Jackson's, but not copying them. They have their own style, which is very, very, good. Denise voice reminds me of Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Karen White, and Nicole Scherzinger, all rolled up in one.
I remember this performance because I recorded it on vhs and I practiced the moves. I had it down too. I was around 21 then.. I hate that I can't move like that now
I'm so happy I've stumbled across this. A performance I've never seen of them before, Love, love, loved it, their dancing was awesome but that guy interviewing them certainly didn't bring out the best in them did he . . . . he was soooo boring, surprised they didn't fall asleep up there - lol. What was the other song they did?
I see the problem here. Their father, who was their manager, was trying hard to get them the best record deal, but I do believe, much of their music was shelved by the major record companies they dealt with, for some reason or other, with very little promotion. I know the father was a musician, and may not of known the business side of the music busines. If I had a self contained act such as he had, I would of started my own independent label, and went for a distribution deal instead, or until I established my own distribution. He got screwed over by the Majors. (Major record companies) They should of been huge. The group, in my opinion, stand up there along side the Jackson 5. (They need some stronger material to sing-but still they are a very good singer/performance act)
Dang, they could get down! Why in the world are these guys not more famous over here in the states?
she does! That's that ol school kayrn white sound
They ate🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Denise is in her zone! She is also bringing the best out of the rest of the group. You go girl!!!!!
They were bad!!!! They are VERY talented and yes....they were jammin!!!
Shine never charted in the UK or US it should have done , yet they performed on it Soul Train which is good . They were known as the UK's Jackson 5. Always be a fan they are /were great , wish they had longer success
Denise a little bit like Karen White.
They can really dance and sing very rare of many groups today.
Love them now and forever.
One of the rare times that the soul train audience was completely focused on the group and not dancing. Man, us Americans really missed out by not supporting 5 Star back then!
dadevi There's loads of UK groups/bands you missed out on.
bad luck 😋
Steve M Overall, the American groups are better, so I haven't missed out on much. :P
Hanging on a string, slow down, magic touch, nights of pleasure ✌😋 nuff said come back at me 😙

she sings the hell out of this song!
SOOOOOOO UNDERRATED!!! Amazing song by an excellent group!!
Never seen this before on soul train. They was jammn

It's time for TV One Unsung to do an episode on 5 Star. It's been way passed over due.
My favourite group ever!🤩🤩😍😍🥰🥰
I didn't know they were still making music in the 90"s!!! She is singing this damn song!
Wow, they are usually amazing, but here, they are incredible!!!! Better then today's K-pop acts.
What I Love about this song is that it has a Karen white feel to it, produced by baby face and L.A. Reid. Also they wrote and produced it too??? BAD!!!!
👍🏽 My all time favorite group, love their dance choreography
INCREDIBLE PERFORMANCE!!!!!!
It's amazing how they remember all those dance steps, lovin five star.
That's what rehearsals are for.
That kinda choreography takes work!! Believe me I know!! Much respect for 5 star! They work HARD!!

One of the most talented groups in the world. Lead singer, best choreographed moves and they looked good. Love 5-Star.

But who was singing lead?😊
Denise is the lead singer
5Star One Of The Best Groups To Ever Come Out!!!!!! This Was When Groups Actually Danced In Their Songs And Not Just Side To Side #TheGoodDays
Still one of my favorite Five Star jams!
Such high energy, one of their best tracks! Should of been a massive hit.
Those dance steps are awesome
It's 2018, going into 2019, WHERE IS 5 STARR NOW?? I WANNA SEE THEM IN CONCERT!!! WOW!! I LOVE THEM!!!!
Me Tooooooo!
I've been looking for the album Shine on CD. Only have it on cassette. Man, those girls were beautiful!!
They killed it. One of the best family groups to come from the UK.
I have all their music
this song is a rare one in the USA but I thought this song was great! It's so underated!
The full album Shine is superb it should have been there big come back stunning vocals
One of their best Songs and Performances Ever!
THE SOUL TRAIN Jumped The Tracks On That SATURDAY! Due 2 5STAR'S PERFORMANCE MELTING THE TRACKS...
That was a high energy performance...I dont remember this group making it into the 90's though just the mid 80's.
I never seen them sing 🎶 this song before , but I love 💕 it , one of my favorite groups from England
Damn!!! This dance routine is one of the best routines I've ever seen, on point all the way through. This is up their with The Jacksons, or even better then The Jacksons during the same time period , that they, were out.
STILL STILL STILL LOOOOOOOOOVE THEM

She should’ve gone solo in 1987/1988. By this point all of their hype had faded away
I wish Michael and Denise had collaborated
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Damn!!! 5 Star kicking ASS!!!! GETTING DOWN!!
they never stopped moving!! that was amazing then when i first saw it on TV!! just as dope over 20 something yrs later
Wow.... I missed this one! What a hot performance... they dance their butts off.

You can tell audience are now used to black people with British accents. When Junior appeared on the show years ago, they couldn't stop cheering him!
Five Star, working it. They WERE GOOD. Well testament is this video... Erm you cant say no. The song works.
INCREDIBLE!!!
I remember this performance because I recorded it on vhs and I practiced the moves. I had it down too. I was around 21 then.. I hate that I can't move like that now
Brilliant performance, the dancin is amazing, and a broilliant track, love the costumes too

Excellent breakdown.
Doris was dancing
I looked @ this twice...it was Denise singing lead...

LOVE this song, have had the 7 inch single since 92, should have done much better than it did, it didn't even make the UK top 100, travesty or what
@BLAKPEARL69 and speaking of them performing All Fall Down on Soul Train, I just uploaded it yesterday.

I wonder if that the same members of the group from 1985!
Yes of course. There's only ever been the same 5 brothers and sisters.

Shine, genauso wie die Sterne so hell, Licht mein Leben, wenn Sie glänzen ... LOL!
