- The Francis Scott Key Bridge carries the Baltimore Beltway (Interstate 695) across the mouth of Baltimore Harbor. The bridge is located within 100 yards of the location (which is marked out by a red, white, and blue buoy in the harbor) where the bridge's namesake is supposed to have witnessed the bombardment of Fort McHenry on September 13-14, 1814 that inspired him to write what would eventually become our country's national anthem.
NOTE: This bridge no longer exists. On March 26, 2024, the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed due to a collision with a container ship outbound from the Port of Baltimore. This video is presented as a historic document of travel over the bridge prior to the disaster.
