Baron Davis is an American former professional basketball player who is a studio analyst for the NBA on TNT. He was a two-time NBA All-Star, made the All-NBA Third Team in 2004, and twice led the NBA in steals. He was drafted with the third overall pick in the 1999 NBA draft by the Charlotte Hornets.
In this conversation with NBA All Star Baron Davis explains what the Rucker Park experience was like. He tells Chris Gotti and Don Dinero he was being told by Chris Gotti to come to the park to play a game out there and see what it is like. For those of you that don't know Dyckman, Rucker Park, Gersh, Waston, Hoops In the Sun all have leagues who play against each other all summer for a prize and the end of the championship. Mens and Womens teams alike out there in the sun until the street lights come on. It's not just a game, it is the culture the vibe, the beat of the people watching and interacting with the players and the game. INTENSE... Especially for the players on the court.
BD talks about how he finally hits Rucker Park and not only does he play a game never will forget. Baron Davis got the East Coast and the West Coast come together by playing basketball while keeping the alliance of no violence. The game of streetball brought out everyone was not just a fan but basketball players from the East and West that agreed to ball for the love of the game.
