As a newbie in ESL, we're rarely given training or "taught" how to teach, never observe experienced teachers or get any kind of mentoring/observed practice/feedback. Often thrown into the deep end with "oh crap, what do I do?!" It's great to see you, an experienced teacher, in classroom even online, giving us ideas how to structure classes, which can be daunting especially with 30 odd students! It can be a absolutely nerve-wracking.
Thank you so much for your kind words! This is exactly why I started this channel - to help teachers like you feel more confident and supported in the classroom. When I started teaching, I had nothing. I made so many mistakes. I know how nerve-wracking it can be when you're thrown into it without proper in-class training or feedback. I'm really glad that my videos are helping you find structure and ideas for your lessons! 💖
I’m going to China in February for my first TEFL job and I’ve found your videos very helpful so I’ve subscribed. Do you have any advice on lesson planning? Thank you

@@Teacher-Val Thanks for the reply, I'll be going to Zhuji, a small city close to Hangzhou, a little nervous but excited, I've already spent quite a bit of time in China so won't be much of a cultural shock but starting any new job will always be a bit nerve wracking
Hello Teacher Val and thank you for sharing these funny and useful games! I'll try this one tomorrow with my grade 5 class ! I'm sure, it will be a succes as usual! 😊 Thank you again and bye bye! 😊
@Teacher-Val Yesterday, I tried the ping pong game and, after a bit of disorientation and confusion, my students realized how it functioned and they had fun playing it! 😀 They were really happy! I think I'll keep it as a final routine of each lesson! Thank you! 😊 Have a nice day! 👋🏻
Wow, your students are excellent! I’m currently teaching grades 7 and 8, but I don’t think my students could come up with answers like yours did for those questions. It’s polite… but I’m at a loss about what to do. :( I’m not sure what they learned in their previous English classes.
What you saw in the video was my students recapping what they learned in class. We had a lesson about why it’s important to be polite and what polite people usually do. It can be disheartening when students aren’t at the same level, but you’re doing great! Remember, we all start somewhere. Keep going!
Hello Teacher, I’m from Vietnam. I really like your videos; I can use them to teach my students. They make my class happier and more excited. Thank you very much for your efforts. I would also like to ask you for a favor. Could you help me teach children (ages 5-7) how to recognize the names of girls and boys, and provide exercises for practicing what people are wearing, what they are doing, and where they are? Thank you.

Hello, Val! I really love all your videos. Especially with how you teach your students. But i would like to ask you, I'm a bit confused with how to teach students types of writing, especially narrative text. Can you give some advice on how should I do? Thank you so much, i really appreciate and respect you
Great suggestion! 👍 I’ve noted your request and will do my best to make a video. In the meantime, here’s what I’d recommend: 1) pre-teach the vocabulary, 2) provide a model text, 3) create a storyboard, 4) add captions, 5) extend the captions, and 6) write the first draft!
@@ilariaparis7840 It depends on the size of the class. In my class, I have 22 students, so I play this game as a recap activity. Everyone participates, with 11 students per team.

Hello, so if I choose 3 teams they don't play all the team members
I think it works best with two teams.
@Teacher-Val ok, but Do all the students play or do you choose some of them?
