I think Canada can have their cake and eat it too, and Marsch seems to be taking this approach. They want to play aggressive through pressing but not necessarily by pushing way forward and creating openings where your opponent hurts you. Everyone presses but the back 4 stay home while those up front are the ones that push the attack.
You can’t press high if ur back 4 “stay at home” if you press high the back 4 has to push up as well or else there’s way to much space in the middle of the pitch that’s the point of playing a high line
@@connorstewart708 I understand. Marsch spoke about this recently. He said people tend to think that pressing must mean pressing as soon as the opposing goalie moves the ball (pressing high), but it can also mean allowing your opponent to carry the ball forward and then pressing them further back. This then creates the changes for transitional play with room to run.
1. This is about the team, not Jesse. 2. Seems like Jesse is pretty comfy on his butt in Europe. (He is the Canadian coach). 3. This is about the players too, Jesse. 4. I don't give a flip about CPL. Sounds like he doesn't either, which is worrisome. 5. This is about Canadian soccer...not Jesse's vanity project.
Great positive conversation today!!!
I think a 4-14-1 formation would let them go after them and have some protection at the back, at the same time.
4-1-4-1
@@WarDaddy2023 Yes! 4-2-3-1 or 4-1-4-1. It fits this squad perfectly and Marsch seems perfectly suited to roll it out.
