MoTD honestly terrifies me so much. I hate playing it by myself. The hanging bodies, the tight spaces, the catacombs, the infirmary, the creepy humming during round change music, and the scary real life history behind Alcatraz island, it all freaks me the hell out.

When I was a little kid who played BO2 at night I was really terrified of all of the zombis maps. I was scared of Mob of The Dead because of it's atmosphere and the zombies with blood and spikes + the brutus, Buried because of its loading screen (one time I remember my PS3 fell because I was scared), Tranzit and Die Rise because the zombies and their sounds are scary, Origins because of the panzer and the panzer alarm, Nuketown's vibe was disturbing. So that's why I used to be scared of BO2 Zombies as a kid.

  • @goodguyben6716
    @goodguyben6716 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +29

man the underlying theme of horror in the early victis maps were something else, i knew the horror was there but never to this extent and now i know i really wished that Jimmy Zielinski could have finished his vision. just imagine how crazy something like tranzit would have been if he had done it a few years later with a game engine like bo3 and the better hardware.
the horror theme is something that hasnt been present for a while and is leaves a whole, one which you wouldnt know what filled it before, just subtlety.

I found Bo2 zombies to be the scariest because it had this feeling of hopelessness whenever I played it. While WaW, Bo1 & Bo3 had this type of survival type of feeling to it that made it not as eerie to me compared to the weird feeling of everything is lost and there is no hope that Bo2 zombies had, which i think is even backed up by the fact that the zombies menu had a destroyed earth in the menus

I'm not sure if it's anywhere else. But both in Transit (town area) & the Town survival map itself. In certain spots of the indoor areas. You can hear the cries of a baby & a child. When I first heard it several years ago. I had to pause the game & stop playing for a few seconds since it was so unexpected. It really built the atmosphere further while scaring the hell out of me.

What is also scary about BO2 is the fact that the campaign and multiplayer were set in 2025, showing what the world would be like after mass war with other factions and countries. I don't know if the zombies mode was meant to mirror the same time frame, but I would say based on the content and some of the things that can be seen and heard, I would say it was.
Looking at what is happening in the world today as well as looking back as an overview like you made Drrpy, this is extremely terrifying.
Playing this game as a 12-13 year old was brutal. This is when zombies was seriously scary to play and my friends and I would play like we were really defending our own lives lol. This game has a ton of lore to it, and I go back and play it all of the time. I know for sure that on buried I still get creeped out to this day as a 24 year old seeing the witches in the mansion from a distance and MoTD is still very scary.
Amazing video though. This is very interesting to listen to and I am so glad that people are still making content on zombies and Bo2 to this day.

When my mom got into an accident on 2012, I went to a friends house, and he only had 2 games, it was Halo 3 and BO1 and he preferred to play Kino every time, but I told him that I preferred Halo cause I got scared just by the first zone, so we played the whole Halo 3 campaign and then we tried to play the BO1 campaign but we were to young to comprehend and got bored quickly so then I started to play cod zombies, and I got a little less scared but couldn’t concentrate and died on the first round every time, but time passes and zombies is a great part of my conscious mind and I got a lot of cariño for it

The strait jacket wearing zombies in transit, + the legend of bus route B, + the existence of nacht being in transit makes me wonder if in this universe bus route B went near verrukt. Ik the logic of it doesnt make much sense since verrukt is def supposed to be in Germany whereas nachts location is more contentious, but with time multiversity shenanigans, and teleportation shenanigans cant a man dream? Imagine if one of bus route B's stops was the actual verrukt facility.

Dang I said ww2 zombies when you asked lol, that one was actually like horror movie levels of horror, jumpscares and everything, but yea treyarch does horror in such a small, unique, subtle way that makes it all the more eerie, you dont notice it at first, until you do. And then its there forever

Mob always scared me. Back in the bo2 days I refuse to play the map. It was even more scary when u heard of og reason for there eyes being red. Before the shadow man.
It was always a terrifying thought. Even when the bo3 remaster is out. I don't think I'll play it. Also to me I think zombie models also add horror. Mob and Transit. But also origins. To me if u made origins a lot darker and more bloody, and maybe change the zombie eye to glow more in the dark then it would be scary as well. The thing I love about bo3 is people making horror style maps.

World War 2 zombies is by far the scariest. The graphics at the time made everything look so brutal and pop out at you, with some sick ass animations that startle you. Setting and maps were dark. Legit felt like a horror game if you go into it blind

I always loved the aesthetic of both tranzit and die rise. The apocalyptic feel was nailed in my opinion. I always found die rise to be really earie with the towering buildings over the fog. It made the map feel very lived in. I wish Treyarch had done more with that arc of the story because I feel they didn't do enough with it.

I will always feel bad for the first Zombies director.
He made 10 amazing maps in WAW and BlOps, and then got fired because Tranzit was held back by console limitations, and Die Rise wasn't what people wanted (sespite being a good map).
That's all it took for him to be kicked out, and imo, Zombies hasn't been any good since.

Growing up watching my cousins play this game was always scary to me and everytime they asked me if i wanted to run a game with them cause they KNEW i was scared is just crazy until i actually got bo2 myself i deadass beat the entire campange and got pretty decent at sniping i STILL didnt play zombies until i actually stood up and tried playing. My first match ALONE all i did was run and keep dying i never even shot at the zombies until i realized the game gave me weaponds for a reason. And once i realized that i stood up and actually killed my first zombie and made it to round 2 i was proud of myself still scared as hell but once i went back over my grandma's house and all my older cousin was back on the playstation i decided to play with them and they taught me the tips and tricks on how not to die so fast or save ammo on beggining rounds..but the most helpful thing was to never EVER leave you're back open. From childhood experiences i'd say tranzit growing up was my favorite map just getting on the bus and driving away from the zombies was all it took for me😂.

Cause MAN all theese flocked bodies across the map on origins FKN SAMANTHA talking all the time.
The Opening (besides the music) made the thought of a excavation going wrong and zombies appearing feel so real..
Maybe im just biased cause i love origins lol

top 3 Cod Zombies that are terrifying:
    1) WaW: You feel isolated in unknown territory
    2) BO1: You and your weapons feel underpowered
    3) BO2: Everything feels bleak in a broken world..

Genuinely the only map since Origins to even try with horror was Blood of the Dead, which I think perfectly turned Mob of the Dead up to 11. Adding Hellhounds and all the lava made it feel like the perfect combination of all the horror of BO2. Mob had a sombre mood like you said, but Blood really had both the sombre mood with the characters and the story, but the sights really gave the feeling like you were in Hell and it's imo the closest we've had to feeling like we're in a hellish nightmare in any map. Say what you want about BOTD and BO4, but BOTD's atmosphere and visuals are a whole world above any other map. But man, I'd never really thought of Tranzit and Die Rise as all that scary, but the idea of a broken world and what comes of it is quite unsettling.

To add onto the horror of victis bo2 is the barriers themselves in tranzit it's ruined yet bloody meaning some took refuge here and we're slaughtered the dim lighting and mystery adds onto the affect the best example is the window in the tunnels meanwhile for die rise it seems so surreal it's like looking at a dead mall/liminal space while other barriers captures something similar to tranzit on how sinister it is while motd is one of the best maps to play nothing compares to the victis maps in story setting and atmosphere love the sky box and the fallout from the blast

What creeps me out is that the missiles hit the Earth in 2025 and the Victis maps take place in 2035 and in the three maps you don’t see anyone else but Victis. I know there’s Arthur to help you and Maxis already destroyed the Earth in Buried but still.
