Houston Heights Derecho As It Happened May 16 2024

Video of Houston Derecho captured from my tower cam in the Heights area of Houston Texas May 16, 2024. At 3:00 into the video (6:23:04 timestamp on the video) the first of many power flashes is seen on the horizon, then at 4:45 (6:24:44 timestamp on the video) there are three very large power flashes and the violent wind and rain start to move in. Day turns into night within a minute as the worst of the storm moves through.
Unfortunately, when the power started flashing, the weather data that is displayed on the screen froze and my UPS only recorded about six minutes of video after power went out. Looking back, the wind reached 65 mph before being knocked off line.
My neighborhood didn't have power for the next five days after this storm. My anemometer is still not working and the tower that the cam and weather equipment is mounted on is leaning due to the force of the wind.
