  • Mahua Moitra is a Member of Parliament from TMC. She made waves with her passionate maiden speech in the lower house of the Indian Parliament and has proved to me a voice of strength and reason in the much needed opposition.
The Sara Mathew Lecture series celebrates personalities of great repute who have chosen the 'Road Less Travelled'. We discuss their journey and celebrate their success by not just showing the trails but also giving a glimpse of the future to the young minds of St. Mary's School. In the memory of our founder Madam Sara Mathew, these lectures help us remember her endeavours to nurture the minds of tomorrow.

She would've been boycotted if she had treated students like kids. She's young as well. And she's not brutally honest. No politician ever is. The fact that she made you believe that she was , we have to give her a merit point for that 😏

She is so versatile about her self-achievement that one could boast of her skill in extempore eloquence which is rare amongst the contemporary Indian politicians be they in her party or in any party prevailing in Indian political scenario! Being a scholar in her own right she can easily adjust herself with the people who're lowly qualified & much below to her class with regard to enlightenment in true sense! She will go a long way in her political career provided she stay in India!

Madam. I am delighted to hear your speeches. I observe that you have been very well brought up and groomed by your patents. I come from a Parsee family. Strict mom and dad ! We were poor - I am talking of the year 1949 /50. Before going to school, I had to grind masala for my mom for cooking. No mixers, grinders those days.....Plus other chores.
Study time, play time was all laid out to the minute. Discipline and hard work became my companions. But the day I opted to join the merchant navy, I realised that I was already in tune with what was to follow.
I had no trouble adjusting to the very hard life at sea, thanks to my parents.
Today I see that your stress on discipline, tenacity and hard work sounds like my mom has come back to life again. I am a retired merchant navy captain. I am 77 years young.
To cut the long story short, I say that may India be blessed enough, to have souls like you sitting in positions of power. You shoot straight from the hips, as they say.
My sincere blessings to you as the future PM.
    Capt. Hosi Khan.

But deep inside my heart I know my better half is doing the right thing.

She is so crystal clear about her thoughts. Someone have commented that she is ‘brutally honest n candid…’…it really fits her. Her presence in the Indian politics retains the faith in Indian Democracy. It gives the hope that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. She delivered her speech just as a Indian parliamentarian and not as a proponent of her political party TMC and that was the beauty of her speech.

A truly amazing lady and your speech is very inspiring. I did want to quit listening, noticing that I could have to sit for nearly 45 mins, but as time passed I wanted to hear more and more of your speech and got glued to your talk. This proves how sharp, smart and intelligent you are. It was a real pleasure and privilege listening to you. You are quite idealistic and strong willed person with a very great personality trait. But I would definitely say that all are not lucky to have parents like you had. You had very loving, caring, disciplined and intelligent parents who put you on the RIGHT TRACK. As the Saying goes “ We can choose God ( sorry about this & no offence meant to any one) but you cannot choose your Mother and father. You are one of the privileged ones. Your children too are very lucky to have you as a Mother. God bless you.Jai Hind !

Such an inspiring lecture it is! She has a very clear vision... The way she has asked to provide attention of detail in everything no matter how minimal the task is and herself also explained everything in detail specially the point where she said everything is in our head and there should not be any plan B and how you should concentrate on the very particular thing that you are wish to do right at that moment to be successful on that front... Fantabulous mam. Thank you very much.. I wish to meet her or listen to her in person. And i wish to see her as our next CM . More power to you mam and i wish you a great health..May the truth , May the honesty wins amid this time of hatred all around..

Unfortunately not every good orator is elected. There are so many factors work in electing the people other than oratory skills. not all good orators become leaders, and not all leaders with fine oratory skills are good for the common man.
Hope that just like her oratory skills, she will also do good for the people.
