@@evelynanderson6016 I would understand her scenario if she was actually sick, but she's not diagnosed (I think she WebMDed herself) because if she had a diagnosis, she'd be able to collect disability. And if her practitioner believed her, she would have been directly referred to a specialist. I'm just baffled by her. She "wants" to get better, but she doesn't show it.
My heart goes out to those with this condition who really are suffering, but I don't think this woman is one of those people.

My life is limited in terms of what I can do, but work is the priority to be able to stay independent. I don't have much sympathy with sitting around all day. I dislocate regularly, I can't remember a time I wasn't in pain but this is how it is, it's not fair to rely on everyone else.

So basically she’s never had and never wanted a job? Being a stay at home mom is hard but when you no longer have kids that depend on you...get a job if you’re not gonna at least clean and cook and run errands.
    Edit:
If you come from or believe in a culture where it’s proper to take care of the parents once you’re grown, that’s awesome and I respect that because that’s really loyal. BUT this lady comes from a culture and clearly believes in a culture where the child is suppose to grow up and go be on its own to raise its own family while you do your own thing till you really need their help. This lady doesn’t really need help and could certainly find other ways around this besides absolutely draining her kid and not lifting a finger. What I’m saying is, the culture she comes from says she’s being a MOOCH. That’s not things are done in the way of life where she’s from and she clearly knows it and needs to let her daughter go raise her own family. She can clearly take care of herself enough to figure out a different situation and so logic dictates that’s what should be done🤷🏻‍♀️

Most doctors can identify a possibility of having it and can send you to a genetics doctor if they think its of any concern. You have to go to several different doctors to treat the different symptoms and depending on the symptoms you could end with a bunch of doctors.

@Anita Mullaly yes I agree with you. What I meant to say is she needs physical therapy and treatment for her pain and whatever illness she may have. They both need a support system. I also understand sometimes it takes many years to get a proper diagnosis. I just recently have been diagnosed with gastropeiresis complicated by scar tissue and intestines are entwined. I have been in extreme pain for years. Gained a lot of weight because I haven't been physically active which, is why I have decided to push myself harder to get proper treatment. I finally found the right Dr to do the right test's. So I have compassion for this mother and daughter. My boyfriend helps me and my grown children. I think this lady also needs some antidepressants to help her out with depression. Btw, I'm sorry you hurt with fybromialga. I also have osteoporosis and multiple degenerative diseases. My neck is in a terrible shape . We all have our pains and we should encourage each other to push through the pain. To push through the depression that accompanies illness be it diagnosed or not. The mental pain we all go through at different times in our lives. I hope you push through your pain and can find relief.

Hang in there it happens to us all one day, everyone of us is getting older by the second. This interview upset me, just because a doctor who's read a few more books hasn't formally written down a diagnosis on a piece of paper doesn't mean she's not ill. I lived for 11 years with an undiagnosed spinal injury. It's clearly on the MRIs but these human beings we call doctors missed it. In my eyes doctors are placed on way to high a petalstool. I'm not trained to read MRIs but even I can see my bones impinging on my spinal cord in the images, all it took was actually looking at them. My injury was very obvious but the doctors missed it & ignored my complaints regarding pain after a head on collision. I absolutely can't stand the way he just treated this lady. People go undiagnosed routinely & if not for her daughter this lady would be homeless while waiting for a doctor to correctly diagnose her. No diagnosis no disability checks equal homeless without help. I applaud her daughter for helping her mother , things will get better for this lady & her daughter when she gets a better doctor & diagnosis or a check to at least lighten the financial burden. And that's an issue too, she's probably drowning in medical bills because she's going to hundreds of office visits trying to get better, get help & get diagnosed with proper treatment.
Dr Phil without a doubt owes this lady an apology.
If your the caregiver I applaud you too. It's not easy but just remember all the things our parents did for us. Try never to dwell on the few bad times always look at the good. And look for a doctor that actually cares, it's hard but there's a few.
And remember it's going to happen to all eventually. Just pray your children when or if you have any will be there for you too when it happens. Take care

Jojo Gray for some it’s not a burden. I am taking care of my parent and to me I rather take care of him then send him with some stranger.

My coworker and I both have Ehlers Danlos (actually diagnosed by a physician). We both work full time in physically demanding jobs (were nurses). We’re both moms (I have four, she has one). We both also have autoimmune disorders. We both got our masters after having kids. It IS possible to work and live a fulfilling life with EDS. Some days are difficult but it’s possible.

Not everyone with the condition is able to work. You should know that there's varying degrees of severity.

It is very hard to get official diagnosis these days. People barely have healthcare . Lots of doctors do overlook pain people are in and won't diagnose them even when all or most symptoms are present. Not saying this lady is or isnt sick but not being diagnosed and suffering because of it is a real issue.

"i was diagnosed with EDS-- i have not been formerly diagnosed with EDS"
also does she not know there are MANY kinds of EDS? I myself don't have it but have other medical disabilities, but a few of my friends in the disabled community have EDS, and it does really suck, but you really need a proper diagnosis cause a lot of the symptoms could be related to others things. (just like basically all conditions and disabilities)

I have EDS to, all my life I struggled with pains, fatigue etc. When I was 32 a new physiotherapist looked at my body and did some tests. She told me that I think I know what you have, I had a patient like you. I looked it up and all the criteria was like me. I cried that I wasn’t crazy. Then I had to go to a rheumatologist. He told me that I had EDS but my kind couldn’t be found in my DNA yet. If you have the vessel/skin type they can. So no official diagnosis. In my country is only one doctor specialized in EDS. It’s hard to get an appointment. I worked for 28 years, till my body gave up and the doctor told me that I needed to stop. By then I was using a wheelchair. I couldn’t walk the stairs anymore, and only little walks. After a period of rest I met two wonderful people, a physiotherapist and hand therapist who knew how to help Eds patients. With a lot of effort and taking plenty of rest, going 3 times in a week to the gym to keep my muscles strong. My hands had the strength of a baby, now I have the strength of an 70 year old woman. I’m now that far that I don’t need the wheelchair anymore. I can walk, climb stairs . Use my hands. My fatigue stays, but I can’t listen to that to much, otherwise I would be in bed the whole day. I had to find a balance, and now 50 yers old I found it. I can’t do my whole household jobs, I need a little help, but that’s okay. I feel stronger than ever.

False. I lost 82lbs and I'm in more pain at 153-155lbs than I was at 235lbs.

Taylor Joy there’s no cushion in your joints.. it helps because your joints don’t have to support all that weight.

My mom has severe rheumatoid arthritis. You HAVE to keep busy, as much as you can when you can. Shes lazy, that's the problem.
Self diagnosing is not a diagnosis.
Get on SSI and have an at home nurse then. NOT your daughter weighing on your every need. Sickening.

As someone chronically ill mentally and physically with a multitude of disorders, including the EDS and Rheumatoid Arthritis she says she has, I did more after brain surgeries 3 weeks post op than this woman does now with no formal diagnosis!!! What a moocher.
