    Love all your videos!
    Discovered your channel after my hubby of 26 years surprised me after Easter Sunday that he purchased a Model Y Performance Red with black rims. So, I started watching all your videos because this is so new to me. I’ve been driving for 40 years…20 with stick shifts and the other 20 with huge SUVs.
    Received the vehicle yesterday, July 8th! Shocked that it arrived in 3 months, but so happy. Mine came equipped with the mobile connector. I mentioned to the Tesla associate that the updates reported cancellation of the accessory. He was shocked as well. However, since mine originated from Fremont, it lacked the rear trunk canopy.
    Anyways, what a driving experience! Loving my new vehicle. So done paying $75.00 for a half a tank every other day just to drive to work here in Southern Cal.
    Thank you so much for sharing your info👏
    Cheers🍾🥂

    I bought the key fob for my model 3 as the phone app is often laggy and you try the door handle several times before it opens. Key fob in my pocket solved that. Also made accessing the front boot much easier. It would be great to see more superchargers or just any chargers built here in Australia before they think of opening up the network.

    If Tesla opens up its charger network to other brand vehicles it will ruin the Tesla ownership experience. If the other brands were serious about the electric car platform they would invest in a charging network themselves. Tesla opening up their charging network to competitors is not something any Tesla owner is looking forward to.

    Having a smaller version of the Tesla semi with interchangeable backend options makes a lot of sense and is something that has been proposed outside of Tesla from the beginning. There were plenty of fan renderings at the time the Tesla Semi was introduced that included RV concepts, pickup truck concepts (before Cybertruck was a thing), etc. Having it as a platform would be great and open up so many possibilities for both auto-piloted and driver piloted vehicles.

    • @davidelliott5843
      @davidelliott5843 ปีที่แล้ว

      Heavy trucks are very efficient in fuel used per ton carried. Vans used for local deliveries are very inefficient. The biggest energy demand for deliveries happens in the last few miles. A small version of the semi with a chassis back could have any back end “body” that fits the space.

    A key fob made sense when that was the only way to access the car. With the phone app, I rarely use the key card. I recall only once using the card to unlock the car when the app had signed me out. While I personally don't use the key card, I do need to be able to give one to the parking attendant. With the Model X that I recently sold, the fob was useful for opening the doors as you approach, or closing them all as I walk away.

      But the lack of quality charging network is the only thing (besides higher volume production) holding back non-Tesla EV purchases. At least it is for me. When I can charge a Ford or a VW at Superchargers, I'll start looking at those brands rather than waiting on Tesla to design and build the replacement for my model 3.

    I like my key fob. When I walk up to my white Model S at night, all of the interior and exterior lights turn on. I agree with your wife that it is easier to open the trunk an the charging port.
    I just paired my iPhone 12 with the key card for my model 3. My wife has her iPhone paired with her key card for the Model 3, but she struggles each time she wants to open the trunk or access the charge port or just open the door.

    • @kevinburns2453
      @kevinburns2453 ปีที่แล้ว

      When using my iPhone 12 as my phone card on my Model 3, the car unlocks when I approach the car and I can open the door. The mirrors extend and lights come on when I open the door. However, this only happens when the Tesla app on my iPhone is activated. If I close the Tesla app, I get a warning that I should leave the app running. This reduces my iPhone charge life.

    If Tesla opens their Supercharger network to other EVs it should be at a cost to the other Ev owners. Tesla can manufacture an adapter to allow cars with a CCS plug to use the Supercharger cable. Owners of other EVs want to use the Tesla chargers they have to buy the adapter. There is no reason for Tesla to spend extra money to add a second cable to their chargers. That money could well be used to add more chargers to the network. Chargers are already too crowded in certain areas.

    • @brianlewis8320
      @brianlewis8320 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on how much adding another cable would cost to upgrade all Tesla superchargers to a dual system. If it's relatively cheap then I'm ok with them doing it. Plus maybe the government would help with the cost seeing that this was discussed in there meeting but if none of that is happening and the cost is quite significant for installing the CCS cables then the non Tesla EV owner should have to pay out of pocket for the adapter and then be able to use the charger at the same price as a Tesla owner.

    I was initially worried that opening up the superchargers would cause a problem, but I have not yet experienced any issues. I would love to hear if Tesla wieners experienced any issues driving their cars across Europe for vacation as even without opening up the network things can get really busy

    As far as the frunk auto open is concerned, wouldn’t that be a potential safety issue? What if you are driving and accidentally hit open, this would impair the front vision. The way it is now is like the hood opening. If they develop a safety feature that in order for the frunk to open the vehicle must be in park.

    • @morganrody67

      Could add a 'open only if in park's statement, right?

    I had a 2014 Model S, and now a 2019 Model 3. I'd like to get back to an S, and would prefer a fob. Much easier to open from a distance for passengers than pulling a phone out of my pocket, unlocking it with a six digit passcode because I'm wearing a mask, opening the app, waiting for it to sync, hitting the control section then selecting unlock. Plus, it seems to have enough trouble detecting the phone when it's just me with about a 3-5% fail rate for an immediate unlock that a fob would be easier. And I almost exclusively use the mobile connector - I live in a condo that conveniently has an outlet that I've used to charge my car for nearly 8 years now. I use it for about 95% of my charging. Went on a road trip last week, and used a supercharger 3 times, first time in a year.

    I have a model X which I never use the key fob despite it looks and feels great. Also, this is the only car I ever purchased that appreciate in value. I paid a little over 100k with the credit card keys, fobs and the mobile charger. I feel lucky that purchased it. Finally, driving a Tesla is fun! Fun! Fun!

    Electric vans have so much potential
    With the electric motors giving unlimited power with good suspension and add a hitch. The van could haul campers or trailers on a hitch in competition with suburbans and trucks
    The van also has much more cargo space than a truck with the back seats down, and this space is protected unlike the back of a truck
    But keep a low floor so loading heavy or large objects in the back is much easier than lifting it up to your head to put it in the back of a truck
    This could be a heavy duty variant of the van with a higher price and there can be a light weight variant for a traditional weak van more affordable for families

    By adding other brands to be able to charge, Tesla may get subsidies and easier permitting for new stations. Tesla also gets free advertising for their superior product. Other brands do not want their customers using Tesla charge stations but they don’t want to take the risk and expense of building their own either.

    Great Reporting!
    Recent my Model Y towing revealed a simple need to add in the product stream. Multiple Empty & Full towing reveals DRAG, NOT WEIGHT is the key! Tesla needs offer a trailer with clean up drag on BODY & FENDER ARCHES.
    Elon PLZ assign a few Interns to design an aerodynamic ~5'x8' enclosed cargo trailer. Optimized for my 3500 lb limit.

    I think another big issue that should be addressed is imposing a fine on people that charge their cars, whether tesla or not and leave their cars parked. If they are still hooked up charges should start being incurred after 80% or 100% charge. I see this happen all the time. I also see non EV's parking in these spots. I was at a casino and saw a guy in a Tesla S slash the tires of an non EV (it was an older model) 4x4 Chevy truck parked in an EV spot. He then carved "EV ONLY" on the side! 🤣🤣🤣

    Tesla chargers charge your credit card associated with your Tesla account. How are non Tesla vehicles supposed to pay without a Tesla account? I'm hoping they don't add a pay spot like 3rd party chargers. Super chargers look attractive because they DON'T have these
