    Sulkys are not just in limerick, they’re in every county in Ireland as it’s part of the traveler culture!

    Love (another Limerick city expression), I am 52, grew up halfway between Listowel and Limerick city, in a village called Foynes, and lived in South Africa for seven years. I returned home and started a course in personal development when I was 41, in Limerick city,, learned a lot, anyway, a few months in we discussed earning a living, a girl said she painted sulkies, a 15 minute conversation ensued, I was lost. Then I excused my ignorance and asked her what a sulky is. The rest of the class looked at me as if I had insulted the girl, but, because she'd gotten to know me, she knew I was green, apparently they are associated with travellers, not a problem for me, but people can take offence. I had seen many, but didn't know until then what they were called. You're sooo young, not from Limerick city - where I live and love it - and you found out what they are, decades before I did, ha ha!! You're obviously a darlin' and people open up to you. Bless you pet, if Limerick city people love you like that, you'll have a wonderful time here. Love your video, you're so down to earth, a pleasure to watch. Will be waiting for your future observations ❤

      Foynes! My fiancee is from Foynes! And yes, I saw the sulkies very early on and asked straight away for an explanation as to what was happening 😂 also, I just saw a comment you left on another video and wow, to have lived in South Africa as well.... I do also understand a bit about feelin more at home in a different culture. I wouldn't say I had the easiest time adjusting when I first came but I've definitely come to appreciate and love things about here that I would never have encountered in LA. Thank you so much for your lovely comment, it's made my day and hopefully I'll see you around Foynes! ❤️

    Haha this was fun to watch, and definitely surprising thigs about Ireland. You are so right with the pubs and Cheese and onions. I myself have also fell inlove with cheese and onion Pringles, which i never thought i would enjoy. Great video and very much relatable for any expat in Ireland.

    You can pump gas first in Germany too and I was so confused and the guy didn’t speak English so I was trying to pay and he was trying to tell me to pump gas but I was like yeah that’s what I want to do can I pay lol

    Cheese & Onion and also Salt & Vinegar are the two dominant flavours. Tayto which is an Irish crisp company invented flavoured crisps in the 1950's. Before that crisps didn't have added flavours. The first two flavours were Salt & Vinegar and also Cheese & Onion. So if anything those are the standard bearers of flavoured crisps worldwide.

    I was listening to this while I was walking around in the grocery store and I got really excited because I thought you were saying they are a lot of pugs in Ireland everywhere pugs and then I realized that was probably pubs you were saying. I'm still subscribing lol

      Ya know, now that you mention it... There's a woman somewhere near my house that has pugs that haven't been snipped and they are always having pug babies so I do get to see them all the time.... By my house anyway... No idea about the rest of the country. 😂
      Thanks for the subscription! I appreciate it ❤️

    I drove from Vegas to San Diego and just couldnt figure out how to get the petrol pump working. Had to ask the staff who told me you pay first. Never had to do that before although it's becoming more common in Ireland now.
    Tayto invented the worlds first flavoured crisps and Cheese and Onion was that first flavour along with salt and vinegar. Probably why they are so popular.

    • @Steffsworld
      @Steffsworld  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow! How oblivious of me but I'd never thought about the reverse and how frustrating that could potentially get if you're trying to pump w/o paying first in the states... Did you try to make it work for a little while or did you go straight in and ask?
      I walked Into the petrol station asking where I could put my card in the machine to get the gas out 😂

      There are two Tayto firms different and distinct in Ireland 1North the other South. A bit like God with his multiple identities syndrome. So, who invented the flavourings? Depending on your answer there could be a civil war using crisp packets at 30 feet.
