- John Mellencamp performs "Small Town" at Farm Aid 2017 at KeyBank Pavilion in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania, on September 16.
Farm Aid was started by Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp in 1985 to keep family farmers on the land and has worked since then to make sure everyone has access to good food from family farmers. Dave Matthews joined Farm Aid's board of directors in 2001.

I love this man. I used to hear him in my little radio when I was a kid. I´m from Argentina, 43 now, and this man with his song put me in places that I´ve never been in United States of America. The power of an artist and how a really well done song could make you travel.

Some more about this song. I recently moved from the West to Tennessee. Back here, they aren't afraid to quote Jesus or talk about him for however you like. Black, white or I don't care they are connected to something more spiritual back here and I love these people.
I've witnessed the same thing while traveling around some Southern states. Nice to see people in restaurants bow their heads in public prayer before eating their meals.

Got given some old records, from a older lady I work with, as I just got my first record player, just this week. One of the records was "scarecrow". Always knew the hits of mallencamp, but was surprised how good this album is! Wondering why he no longer capos the guitar at the 4th fret?
