    1:32 Can Robbie look any happier?
    look how he immediately forces himself to change his facial expression and pretends to look all casual, bless him

    I think it's great to hear Gary singing a song Robbie wrote. It used to be the other way round with 'Everything Changes'. Somehow the circle is now complete. Although I'm a fan of Gary, Rob sounded great on the documentary singing his own song. If he had sang this on the record it would have been great too. But I'm glad Gary had at least one strong lead vocal on the record. Love it. Icing on the cake!

      There’s a track on one of Robbie’s albums where he sings “And I’m thinking ‘I can sing. Why am I stood at the back?”. That bit will definitely be about never getting chose to sing enough on most of their songs.

    I'm with Mark; from all of their album they have made through the nineties and this time around (as a four piece), is always been about the sound of Gary's voice as Take That trade mark and we can't deny that fact. Now, in 'Progress', an album noted as a ‘different kind’, Gary is almost gone. “He’s there…” like Mark said, but no solo or even a specific lead vocal in any of those tracks. Finally, there’s ‘Eight letters’ cover lost soul of the band and keep them grounded.

    This song makes me cry. It is beautiful, and knowing what it means to the members of the band makes it absolutely breathtaking.

    I need them to talk about Flowerbed!! I know it's the hidden track, but it's by far the best song on the album

    Wasn't so keen on this song on the first listen, but the more i listened to it the more i understood it, and when i saw it performed live i just cried! Possibly the most beautiful song on the album. So proud to be a fan and part of it all

    The guys make the point as to why this has to be Gary singing Bob's story - it completes the circle - High Five indeed

    3.15 - 3.19 Rob lies..look at his face & look the way he looks to Gas to be supported. Rob was speaking 'bout himself & Gas in that lines - thing that Mark obviously realized - & Gas perfectly knows. Anyway, you can easily gather from the fact some part of the song are written in the plural (I can love you out of there), some in the singular (I tought I'd go before you leave me, my friend, the enemy). It's a shame Rob prefers to not tell it openly, I think it's so sweet. Anyway, great song.

    eight letters is going to become my all time TT track fav. it's hard to say (I'm a thatter since I was 15 and now I'm 29) but this song is so complete...it's not just a love song, it's about life, inner feelings, moving beyond anger and lies and discovering respect and friendship...beside "nobody else", "another crack in my heart", "said it all" and "like I've never loved you at all" there is another great tune in my head. well done, lads :D

    "Where's the sprinkle of platinum on this track" ha ha ha ha GB us a musical wizard end of!
    On a more serious note, its really heart warming to see RW and GB respecting one another, and more importantly there music getting better and better! Unbelievable!

    @1209Anja It's funny, because while I agree that Robbie has more passion, Gary's 'simple' delivery makes it even sweeter for me. And I'm a Robbie fan first and foremost! :)

    @Krystal981 I forgot to say I'm gonna cry every time I listen to Rob's Don't say no: "...And if we didn't keep in touch, I guess we didn't care that much, We never understood that stuff, But now I need you...I never meant to let you down, But lettin' you down was easy, Didn't it break your heart, Maybe I'm just too needy, Do any of you still need me, In your LIVES (in the plural), in your HEART (in the singular), Don't say yes just to please me". Sniffffffff so sweet.

  • @lizbennetgenova
    @lizbennetgenova 13 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    @brenda 3 reasons: 1.Rob's voice broke up when he sang this song, 'cause he feels the lyrics too much, so I guess he prefers to let it sing to Gas; 2.part of the lyrics are 'bout Rob, not 'bout the whole band & Jay blamed him in the film for this, for his Ego, so probably he thought it's too much to sing it; 3.Gas sing it 'cause it's clearly their song. Pay attention to the lyrics & realize how much awkward Rob is on 3.15-3.19 as I wrote below.Rob made with 8L the same he did with 'Don't say no'

    @svu1234 Hi I totally agree they have gone round full circle, it's amazing to see how far they've all come, and I am enjoying listening to Progress, I think it's their best album they've done out of all of them so far.

    and finally ..... My favourite song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! not just because Gary has always been my favourite TT but because My favourite TT sings beautiful words particularly meaning in this period x me and than so glad Robbie wrote that! hands down for all of you guys! I LOVE YOU - EIGHT LETTERS - THREE WORDS -ONE MEANING

  • @lizbennetgenova
    @lizbennetgenova 13 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I think it's so sweet Rob wrote it and Gas sang it, much more if we consider that some of the words are clearly dedicated to him. Love this honest song so much, as I do with Robbie's "Don't say no" lyirics. Now, I'd like to know something about the track Gary is singing in "Look back.." and is not included in Progress (will it be a b-side?). It seems to me written by Rob to Gas, 'cause of the words (staying at the few words we can hear) & 'cause of the particular intensity Gas puts into sing it.

  • @lizbennetgenova
    @lizbennetgenova 13 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    @Krystal Me too. I add The Circus, Reach out & Here by TT's side (maybe I'd wait for life); Don't say no, One fine day, Better days, Often, I tried love, Killing me, AverageBside, Deceiving is believing, Stalker's day off"& others (in add to the ones expressly dedicated, like No Regrets & Misunderstood), by Rob's side. Most impressive to me he always refers to his 17 years (he was 16 when become a TT.. what's happened when he was 17?). Better days..brave lyrics. In fact, he NEVER sing this song.

    I had the same perspective as Mark on this one after I saw the documentary and then Gary ended up singing Rob's words. Thought it was very poetic and cool.
    Nice air hi five at the end there. :)
    Too bad we don't get discussion on Flowerbed. There's a bit about it in the extras of the documentary though which is nice.

      @EvaaRashid 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Underground Machine is on the "Happy Now" video (th-cam.com/video/mXdsKi0UCrk/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=TakeThat)
      Flowerbed isn't there sadly. Such a shame they didn't even talk about the hidden track (or include that talk when it was happening) and Jason wasn't even included when he was there. Just look at the MSN interviews. Clearly in the same place :-(

      @@user-dx4jw8zp5e Well, it seems we have been seeing two different bands then. In the one I saw/see, Jason was definitely appreciated - still is to this day, in fact.
      Appreciation can come in lots of ways and sometimes it can be subtle. It is not measured in number of lead vocals or in screen time. Appreciation is to see someone for who he is and treat this person accordingly. Like not being on camera as much as the others could mean you are ignored and not appreciated, or it could mean that someone is considerate of the fact that this person does not like to have a camera in their face all the time.
      And not everyone minds if the others do more of the talking. Having to answer the same often either ignorant or intrusive questions again and again all the while being polite, engaging, original and still consistent with your answers from the previous interviews is probably not really top on the list of favorite activities for everyone, so it could also be a relief if you have others around you answering a lot of those questions and you can just quietly listen until you want to say something when you feel you have something meaningful to add.
      I’m just saying we all have bias and filters, and there’s not just one way to interpret what we see. I am sure that if Jason wanted to have his say on the tracks on the album, he would have.
      And why would you feel sorry for him? Jason appeared to be intelligent and wise, and I think if he knew he wanted to leave, he picked the right time. A job well done, ticked all the boxes: record album, record tour, best British band, the Olympics, made things right with RW, doing the album and tour as the original TT. Would you also feel sorry for a random employee who quits his job after he achieved everything he could in his position and decides to embark on a new adventure?

  • @crystalsmile
    @crystalsmile 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    Oh, and I personally think that they overdid it a bit in the production process. Too many bells and background sounds, I am more for pure ballads, everything else sounds so christmassy-sugar coaty, if you know what I mean.

  • @biggag
    @biggag 13 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm glad they realised that, listening to the record, there's just not enough of Gary's vocals. The songs are good but if I wanted a Robbie Williams album I'd buy one and if I wanted a Mark Owen album I'd see a psychiatrist.
