It's honestly shocking to me how low your sub count is, for many years your videos have been some of the best produced on TH-cam and your projects the most enjoyable to watch.
He has a whole 2nd channel with much higher sub count 130k almost. He grew his audience over there first during covid. This one is a 2nd lower sub count channel.
It’s his release schedule and video length. The algorithm favors shorts that are released on a daily basis. It doesn’t like this kind of content at all so he suffers with a low subscriber count because he’s not being recommended to a large audience. Apparently YT just wants to target a low attention span demographic because that’s what the advertisers want. Which is unfortunate because this is high quality content.
I remember when he bought it. Stating, with some amount of conviction, this will not be a restoration, there is no room for another restoration project. 😅😂
Gotta say I'm super impressed at how staunchly you've resisted this becoming a project, you said as much at the very beginning and here we are now; two years and eleven episodes later, and still definitely not a project. Such diligence is admirable.
Nice one. I did the exhaust on my S3 in my gravel driveway. And yep, ended up with a small piece of gravel in the pipes that rattles nicely on startup. Grrrr.
I’m visiting NZ on holiday at the moment and earlier today I thought “how great would it be to watch a Croker vs Rover video while I’m in NZ” - and now here we are! Thank you
My favorite channel (other than your first channel 😂😂). Watching a man lie to himself while he slowly and painstakingly restores a vehicle he said he wouldn't it the best.
This content is awesome. Don't ever stop. Raptor coat crowd lack of camshaft comment one of the better one liners I've heard lately. Thanks heaps for the content I hang out for your vids.
My first reaction: this has got to be a fake ... no way did all six of those nuts just come off like that without breaking studs flush with the manifold flange. :)
Nice! back to back vids! I hope your original series motor did not get stuffed, that would be a setback! Keep them coming! Us folk in the northern hemisphere can only vaguely recall what it must be like to have grass and light and warmth and sanity of long days.
I'm running a '94 Disco 1,ex v8, cut down into a service ute, now with a 4JB1T. Jill, the car, is still running the original muffler, date stamped 10 94, converted to diesel powered after not being able to get LPG locally about 4 years ago. Enough rambling, a previous car, '91 v8i with a shagged exhaust, when I went to replace the piece across behind the gearbox, I noticed how restrictive the original was with pipe ends intruding into the flow, I freed it all up, taking care to keep the flow free, the end result...... no or bugger all improvement, only i knew what'd gone on, the real price of owning and running Land Rovers. Yes, i am a bit obsessed, with a few owned and not enough time for 'projects'. Really enjoy your posts, take care dude
Perfect timing on this video, just finished my last shift at work before Christmas. Have a good one, Geoff and a Happy New Year to you and your family ❤
You could build a set of ramps that are parallel to the slope of your drive that would give you a great amount of room to get underneath the Disco. I done that years ago.
Really love your dry humour! It's almost like you're a brit at heart😂. I'm exhausted just watching you! Top job sir, again... now get on with your early landy please.
haha, this gets a new designation: "LAWN vs Rover." Also, I am very jealous of this man's MIG welding abilities but very happy with the fun video dramatics.
Great video as always. I did something slightly similar on my early One Ten V8 CSW. The exhaust was toast with a big split across the Y-pipe and many other issues. I decided to upgrade from the puny 4-1 single pipe versions to Disco 1 4-into-2 manifolds which are a much better design, RR Classic EFI 2-into-1 downpipes and Y-pipe, and a 300TDI rear section which bolted straight up. But I did have issues with the aftermarket downpipes and Y-pipe as you did. One of the downpipes (the right side IIRC) was nowhere near in the right position to meet the Y-pipe, so it was cut and welded. As with yours, it had packing tape all over it and it wasn't the best quality, but OEM ones weren't to be found. But now the One Ten is much more free breathing with more usable rev range, and (surprisingly) slightly more economical. Sounds better too.
Nothing says Christmas like somebody on the other side of the world struggling underneath a rusty LR (that isn't a side project). Greetings from the home of dust and LR
Awesome video! Thanks! Though I admit I was slightly disappointed we didn't to see how you dealt with those rubber hanger thingies. I've exhausted a LOT of curse words on those things over the years.
MMM sound of healthy v8 yes i do enjoy the induction sound, maybe fit an injected 308 out of a Vn commodore with a turbo 700 fuel economy and sound tick in every box . Merry Christmas to you and your Family from across the ditch.
Also, in the older parts of cities in Oklahoma, driveways were just two concrete strips up to the garage from the street. Maybe on your grassy bit, you could pour two concrete strips. You'd have grass AND drive to park on. Can't save the grass from the leaks, though.
Croker: "Can one of you guys lend me a hand?" Mate, I offered to pop around while I was in NZ, but got no results. I'll just sit, watch and drink beer while you work. 😂😂😂😂
As a previous owner of a RR Classic and dealt with exhausts these engines need a large front resonator and rear silencer to get the burble. Sounds like you need a bigger front resonator as its clearly does not snd like a V8 on idle
@@CROKERvsRover Haha - I'm restoring a Chevy K5 Blazer, and it seems about 60% of the other owners are part of the Raptor Coat Brigade - also with straight pipes. It's a fitting nomiker.
We're invested in two LandRovers. Now we're also invested in your lawncare and the detective work for the huge swoopy skid marks on your test road. Cool though!
The commendatory panel is undecided on this one. Goal success through the game was in favour of Croker , ease of undoing nuts, removing bits and pieces, cleaning, re-studding but team Discovery fought back and recovered ground so a compromise of one goal each with a return game decider to be held at a future date.
Sorry but I'm in the 'Before / Raptor coat brigade' on this one! Mind you, even the 'Before' is still a lot more quiet than most of the motorbikes I've owned so its no major surprise.
As someone with Raptor on my Discovery (applied carefully for minimal texture) and no silencers, I feel personally attacked! Nah, that sounds much better as it is. My 4.0 Disco 2 was a bit too quiet with its many silencers, it was all belt and gearbox noise unless you started to wring its neck.
I think the question we all forget to ask ourselves is, does it make me smile more after I did the work or before? Pretty sure we all know the answer but it was a rhetorical question anyways 😉 Thanks for sharing Geoffrey, stay safe and we'll see you next time
This channel is the low stress wabi sabi or taoist Wu Wei solution to MyMechanic's satisfying but analy retentive descent into madness. "Eh, im not restoring this, good enough"

Exhaust = pain, particularly when you don't have a hoist to work under. Just wondering how your petrol bill is going after the changes you made in the last video?
I cannot believe those manifold exhaust bolts came out. I have had 10yr old exhausts that simply laughed at me as they exploded with my twist and needed an angle grinder.
Hope it wasn't too exhausting of a job, least that's one advantage of bigger tires. Speaking of questionable Landrover changes to parts, turns out the only difference between the silencer pipe on a '99 d2 td5 and the one off a '03 V8 is which pipe has the studs on it. Very confusing to climb under and then realise you've got two sets of holes and zero studs.
It's honestly shocking to me how low your sub count is, for many years your videos have been some of the best produced on TH-cam and your projects the most enjoyable to watch.

You've succeeded in making me want a Land Rover, and simultaneously convincing me to not buy a Land Rover at the same time.
LoL, different sized nuts from one side to the other is the most accurate example of second hand rovers I've seen.
Nice one. I did the exhaust on my S3 in my gravel driveway. And yep, ended up with a small piece of gravel in the pipes that rattles nicely on startup. Grrrr.
Hahaha. That would drive me crazy 😜
@@CROKERvsRover I have a little piece of what I assume to be matrix from the catalysts caught in the rear muffler of my 97. And yes, it's maddening.

Two vids in a month! It’s a Christmas Croker miracle!
Love your videos and humor 😊
Rust, manifold bolts, grinder, welding and several shouldn't be a problem comments all before breakfast - brilliant!

Had a good chuckle at the raptor liner comment 😂
Ooooo a tease at the end about rebuilding a Landy engine.... {places large order for popcorn}

I instantly clicked on this when it came on. Hands down, my favorite channel on the youtubes!!
Gotta ask though, how does a V8 sound so wheezy?? My Tundra with a V8 and the factory TRD exhaust is deep and rumbly.
Honestly my favourite series on youtube
