    Pharrell takes himself so seriously that I’m sure he thinks this is the most innovative idea ever. For him, I doubt it’s a joke - he’s too pretentious for humor in anything

    • @ThaSweetHart
      @ThaSweetHart 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      In the 20+ years I’ve been aware of Pharrell, I don’t think I ever heard anyone say that about him. He obviously takes his work serious (but heaven forbid anyone do that, right?) but thats a different thing. Sounds like an assumptive critique from someone likely outside the target audience anyway. 😂

    Quality novelty bags are where contemporary brands shine.
    If I’m opening my wallet wide it’s for a classic shape in a versatile color.
    For fun colors and details that quickly date I shop Coach and Kate spade, they usually go to outlet quickly and then I swoop.

    The problem was hiring Pharrel in the first place, why out a non-designer in charge of a design house? Execs are just trying to appeal to Tik Tok users at this point.

    • @ThaSweetHart
      @ThaSweetHart 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Pharrell isn’t a non-designer. He co-founded his fashion brand at least 20 years ago and has done plenty in high fashion and has been a tastemaker since. It’s awfully moronic to think that Bernard Arnault/LVMH would allow an alleged ‘non-designer’ to be a creative director at their most profitable brand. Turn your brain on and get your facts in order before making claims that have no basis in fact.

      100% , come on little horse charms for us grown women? Or bags with wheels and stuff. This also applies to Hermes as you mentioned because lots of people put the brand on a pedestal. And regardless of what people want to say, presending and so on is also ridiculous.

    Totally agree with everything you say. I have said this before but it's all a case of "emperor's new clothes". We all need to get back to the smaller atelier and artisanal workshops and support these small establishments where you know the human elements are still there and pride and craftsmanship are high on their agenda, not these big houses which are owned by large corporations who only give a crap about the money.

    I don’t think the brands are mocking anyone. They are just businesses that are charging the prices that their brand commands in the market place. Basically we’re just paying for brand name and the exclusivity that goes with high prices. The materials and workmanship that goes into the bag represent a fraction of the price and that includes Hermes.

    • @hill1091
      @hill1091 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    • @Jessiestyle
      @Jessiestyle  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes but it’s got to a point where the price is so high and the amount of product being released has increased significantly. Louis Vuitton had a new collection ever few weeks and so many designer brands have an excesss off stock that sits in outlets. Not to mention they cut costs on quality and their own staff. I’m sorry there is nothing luxury about that

    • @nubbyrose87
      @nubbyrose87 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @OGQuatumStorm I agree. Everywhere I look there is LV. If the business plan includes exclusivity the businesses will have to raise prices. LV is definitely not exclusive.

    • @nubbyrose87
      @nubbyrose87 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Jessiestyle I agree. Quality issues, straight to outlet items, massive inventories - this isn’t luxury or exclusive. It’s riding on the coattails of their luxury history.

    • @nubbyrose87
      @nubbyrose87 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @OGQuatumStorm Exclusivity is kind of a marketing created illusion (false) but one the people buy into. The bottom line is profit and this is their path to exploit the brand and make money. I don’t blame them. As a buyer I like the benefits of free markets. I can buy from whom I want or not.

    Your Barbie bag looks nicer than many Chanel I have seen😂
    This is an interesting video because I often feel that way about art! There was an exhibit where an artist literally just put empty candy wrappers in a corner of a museum and it was “art” or the artist who duct taped a banana to a white wall. Those are not for me, BUT I love Rothko paintings and people have said “it’s just blocks of color”. So… I guess someone will honestly love the Pharrell bag, but it will not be me 😂

    Ever since Karl Lagerfeld left the planet, fashion has gone down. He was a hard-working man who set carefully considered trends and styles, but you are so right. Now they just slap a cc on any rubbish and think people will pay. Karl's work was art and it made women look and feel expensive. But it feels like no-one is thinking/crafting/really caring about the designs any more. I don't want to pay £10k for a barbie bag that makes me feel like a kid - no thank you. They are totally taking the mick.

    You’re a 100% right these brands are taking the mickey out of us with both the poor quality, lazy design & ridiculous price hikes. I personally refuse to buy Chanel anymore (the greediest, laziest brand of all, and rather passé since Karl passed) 😂 And I even struggle with LV as i paid a few hundred for my speedy’s and other bags circa 1999 - 2010 including Murakami. Jesus I bought hard sided cases for less than a canvas speedy costs now. I get what Pharell is doing but it’s just a speedy made in leather and a different colour. Atleast print the LV print the right way up on the back whilst still using 1 piece of leather (that might actually help justify the price). The Birkin prices should be an upper limit for all brands to price their bags by. Especially as Birkin’s sell for more not less on the secondary market, unlike most other ‘luxury’ brands.

    I think you're missing the point. The point is people will pay ANYTHING (or close to anything) to shove logos into other people's face. To show they have the "it" thing, to get the approval, to get the recognition, to get the "stuff it in your face" feeling. And designer brands know this. Look at chanels' ads lately, they are catering to teenagers! TEENAGERS for crying out loud. To us luxury lovers, chanel and hermes are brands we aspire for through hard work as we get older. For many of us sane people, it's an accomplishment to get a chanel or hermes bag. But, now they're catering to kids basically. Mommy and daddy will get it for them or the credit cards. idk (rambling at this point).

    Luxury brands in general, are taking the p*ss.
    Neither LV, Chanel, Hermes nor Rolex would need to up the prices as they do, but they do it anyway, to earn more, but also to ensure, that only people, who can find the money can buy it.
    I think it’s ok, that bags are made at ridiculous high prices, they ain’t meant to be for people, with a normal income, it’s important to remember, that there are a lot of people, earning a lot of money, for them it’s peanuts so let them have them. I understand that that income level doesn’t want to carry the same bag as “normal” people.
    Also, products of such crazy prices, are mainly runway head turners created to get attention and people talking, which as you know is additional priceless advertising, when media, TH-camrs and influencers are bringing up the brand and product. Cleaver marketing and luxury for the many ultra rich.

    The Louis Vuitton logo bags are made from plastic actually not real leather at all. I don’t know why there charging a arm and leg up for a plastic bag thats not even real leather. I think the rest of the Louis Vuitton bags that don’t include the logos all over I think those ones have real leather. Also Gucci an Chanel both use gold toned hardware that means they paint the metal gold. This means that you are not getting real gold well you spend 10 to 12 grand on Chanel bag or a 4 to 5 grand bag on a Gucci. These luxury brands secretly screw people over in the end they make how much in profits an the company’s are worth billions an if there gonna be a few grand for each bag they should have real gold on them. I bet there’s other brands doing it also like Yves Saint Laurent doesn’t use real gold anymore either all these brands stopped using gold bags I think about 15 to 20 years ago.

    I agree 100% with what you are saying. I have been buying Themoire bags lately, which are amazing quality and you can get a bag from $400-$650 dollars. There are also a lot of smaller companies that have beautiful handmade bags that are better quality for more appropriate prices. They are laughing at their customers, which is why I refuse to play the game anymore.
    Y'all know when the Michael Kors regular line and Coach have much better quality than LV and Chanel; you're being played. Hell, Zara and H&M have better quality at this point, which is shocking.
    Hermes is expensive and has their games, but at least they have the quality to back it up. Also, second hand shopping does away with the games when it comes to getting a Birkin.
    Do yourself a favor; stick to vintage/second hand shopping for the quality luxury products (as things were better made pre-2010), up and coming designers as they have better service and products, getting things made by artisans (and have a bag or shoes made for your style and specs) or lower level designer brands. You'll spend a lot less money, have bags, clothing and shoes that will last and you'll bypass a lot of the nonsense.

      Zara and H&M most certainly are not creating high quality items. At all.

    Yes, prices are ridiculous
    But it goes for all luxury brands including hermes.
    Unfortunately social media makes it worse and most of us have fallen for this. Luxury brands have free publicity in influencers and even when bags are gifted its cheaper than traditional marketing
    Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder
    Im not trying to attack anyone, but we all have different taste
    We should accept it
    Some people say chanel 22 looks like a trash bag, i can see why, but it looks more like a hobo bag. I do not own any 22, because i have not fallen in love with any, but i ve seen people wearing it and it looks cute.
    In my opinion Hermes herbag is a whatever overpriced bag, but a lot of people like it. I don’t see anything special in that bag
    Bottega, all the bags look like they found leftover leather and made bags
    Same with puzzle bag.
    Goyard totes look super cheap and plastic
    Lv go-14 is ugly in my opinion and Atlantis bag look like a grocery store bag, it has actually same shape
    It is on us to purchase what we really like and can afford
    Agree about the lv speedy leather bags, but if someone likes it and can afford it congratulations!
    I don’t buy bags based on collaborations or what famous person wears it.
    If i see any kardashian wearing something i do not buy it or stop wanting it, it creates the opposite effect on me.
    Not for me,

    I don’t think it’s a matter of brands laughing at customers. Some have just chosen profits over quality, so with the rising cost of materials, they don’t want to be the ones to take the hit. But I mean…it’s okay to not be able to afford some things. These are luxury, material things. They’re not important.

    Lol I agree vintage to me is the best we need the 90s back for Quality and style …. But in that designers mind why would they they’re making all this money and using cheap Quality product so they’re making a huge profit until people stop buying it that’s what they’re gonna keep doing unfortunately so I stick to vintage only once in a great while ill buy some thing new now so sad
