Hey, Just a Dad, your obsession with coffee makers amuses the heck out of me. The only thing I care about is how hot they make the coffee. By the time I put it in the cold cup with my non-dairy creamer, it drops about twenty degrees. And it's cool within ten minutes and I have to stick it in the microwave. Thanks!
I loved this video. Thanks so much for doing this. These are the base models/brands that most people are trying to decide between at your local store or online. I also like that you don't have only fancy expensive coffee makers. Most videos I have found of 'best coffeemaker' only include one inexpensive option. I think this is great for the average at home coffee drinker that just needs a new coffee maker. Thanks again!
Thanks for watching and your kind words!!! That was so nice of you to take the time and leave such a nice comment. Your kind words really do mean so much!!! I am so glad it helped and this is the reason I do my Videos To Help Others!!!! I was just talking with my wife over supper tonight how I think the majority of coffee drinkers are just people that buy a coffee maker under $50 bucks and really enjoy their coffee. Thanks for the feedback and I am happy to review the $20 dollar MR coffee from walmart. I think they sell a lot of them.
Wow, amazing and awesome comparison, superbly done, great fun to watch, great to the see temperature checks, brewing speeds, taste test comments. Super cool “JUST A DAD” round orange stickers. Thank you, and greatly appreciate your videos. They are superb.
Thanks so much for Watching and your words of encouragement. They mean so much, I am giving away my stickers for a limite time if you email me at Justadadvideos@gmail.com, I would be glad to give you a free sticker!!
Your Dad is right. Who needs "programable" or "Wi-Fi" when you can have 10 (6oz.) cups in 4 minutes? Purchased our first Bunn in the late '70s for $40.00. We now own the thermal carafe model, and its as steadfast as our first! Nice job on the video. It should be very helpful to coffee maker neophytes.
I was looking for a review of a different model Cuisinart (DDC 1220WM) and found this video. I want to thank you for what you do. Your video was very informative and comprehensive. It solidified my choice to get a cone filter again.
I bought a Bunn, the exact one that you have because of your previous videos. I can honestly say, it is the best coffee maker I ever owned, hands down. The speed is impressive. I come down in the mornings, get it going, and by the time I get my shoes on and comeback I pretty much have 8 cups ready to go.
Glad you enjoy it! Yeah I call it the I'm asleep and cant think coffee maker. Just put coffee in, dump water in and thanks it no thinking. Thanks for Watching and Bunn Coffee makers will last you a long time if you keep up on descale.
I chucked mine after 2 wks. Mine overflowed and BUNN knows this so they will mail you a restrictor shower head to stop the overflow but my restrictor fell off into the grounds so I chucked it after cleaning my counter everyday until I freed myself from the aggravation.GE Cafe or Moccamaster all of the way.
Oh Thank you very much I collected a lot of them in my Amazon cart and was trying to find the suitable for me. You helped me a lot. I am now happy to keep black and decker and delete others
Thanks for the review. I'm on my third Bunn. After about three years they all started leaking from the bottom and it went from making 10 cups to 7-8 so in other words it's a leak releated to the actual heated ready holding tank not the top tube many believe is the culprit. It could be due to hard water as I do not have a softener. Sadly it still looks like I have to buy another Bunn because my wife and I are big coffee drinkers and have become used to Bunn making it the fastest. Don't think I could ever go back to a standard autodrip unless they find a way to make it very close in brewing speed to the Bunn.
I'd like Just Dad to speak about THE "BLOOM" effect the higher priced ones have, like Bonavita. Supposedly brought the barista quality to reasonable priced.
GREAT JOB!! My Cuisinart is 14 years old as of December 14th and I ordered the Cuisinart in this video since the 1-4 button is giving out mine. I did see the individual video you did on the Cuisinart and I found it VERY informative. It was one reason I placed the order for the new one. Thank you a lot!!
I have had this Cuisinart for years. I use it to make 16 oz of coffee every morning. And it’s good. The full pot is good also but I rarely need that. So I bought a Keurig K Supreme Plus for convenience and admittedly just for something new. I returned it within a few days because I just couldn’t get a cup of coffee that I liked. So for now I’m sticking with my Cuisinart. I enjoy your videos but they are always tempting me to try a new coffee maker. Lol.
My bunn was good while it lasted. From continuously holding water the metal tank rusted and leaked all rusty water out over everything. In the morning I woke to rusty water everywhere over my counter and floor, that’s the last bunn I’d ever buy. What a complete mess from it. Good vid
You do the best reviews of everything. I love your coffee reviews. There so much better than most of the utubers who review coffee🤗 I want to know about the coffee makers. But most importantly i want to know how the coffee taste. Alot of reviewers dont tell you how the coffee taste. 🤪😤
Am I the only one who strictly uses filtered/distilled water for appliances? I have a Brita pitcher I specifically use for coffee makers, an electric kettle and my cats' water fountain. If the water is not to be consumed, I use steam distilled. I personally would never use tap water in appliances. Especially with the Bunn, unfiltered tap water seems like a really poor decision. It would spend it's whole life evaporating water and concentrating the impurities... No wonder that old tank looks like it's full of cornflakes! I just bought a Bunn with little knowledge regarding them and began second guessing my choice when I read 'Always on internal tank'. Power consumption was my biggest concern but internet sources say it doesn't even use $1 a week. Still, your videos helped me understand the machine very well, thank you!
I've used Bunn for the last 12 year's or more. It brews coffee very fast, and the coffee is really hot. You should clean them out regularly, delime them with vinegar.
The cone filter concentrates the coffee grounds into a smaller area so there is more concentrated coffee rather than spreading out the grounds. So, the coffee will be stronger. I have a Mr. Coffee. I have never figured out how many cups of water have to be run through with the liquid cleaner before the light goes out. I usually have to unplug the coffee maker to get the coffee maker to turn off the flashing red light.
I just like the looks of a Cuisinart. It's stylish on my counter and brews a great cup of coffee. I love the backlit display and that the entire buttons (on some models) have a lit ring around them when selected. The only downside (and it's minor to me) is that the lids could get out of the way a bit more when pouring into the reservoir and the reservoir opening could be a little wider. So, if you are a shaky pourer or very short and have trouble really seeing into the top, you may want to avoid the Cuisinart. But they are so nice looking on your counter, you'll miss it if you ever switch to another brand. And that massive 14 cup carafe?! It will spoil you and all others will look inadequate in comparison :) One thing you overlooked (or I missed) was the cleaning cycle. Cuisinart is just fill the carafe with 2/3 water and 1/3 vinegar and hold the cleaning button, then wait. Could not be simpler, and it's quite speedy compared to some others that I've had to deal with.
You do the best reviews. I only drink 1 or two cups on the weekend, do you think i should get the cuisinart or bunn. I use regular store bought coffee like folgers, etc
Thank you so much! You definitely make it simple to understand what is really needed. I will be looking through your Bunn videos to help me understand the MyCup single serve machine. It’s a really convenient and flexible option but I just want to learn about maintenance of it. Thanks again!!!
Great Question. So all of them except the BUNN would clog the least amount from hard water. They all have about the same heating element except for the bunn. see my bunn video. th-cam.com/video/L4stCn2J73I/w-d-xo.html See this video for what the others look like on inside and you will see they are almost the same on the inside. th-cam.com/video/ppleIRcNFJc/w-d-xo.html As far as which one would last the longest. the Top 3 are Mr Coffee, Cuisinart, Braun in that order. From What I see online is the Hamilton beach is the least reliable. and the Black and Decker just felt the cheapest made. A BUNN coffee maker will last you a long time if you descale on a regular basis, but if you have really hard water it might not last the longest. It's hard to beat the mr Coffee but with the Cuisinart you get more features, but it cost almost 3 times as much. If cost is a factor then MR Coffee, If space is a factor then Mr Coffee, If you want more features, then Cuisinart. Cuisinart gives you a brew done beep and you can turn it off, it also has a clean light to let you know when it's time to decale and it has a automatic descale / clean function, Very easy to change water filter, and I think cone filters brew just a little better. Thanks for Watching and hope this helps.
The B&D didn't brew as hot as others I've tried. Did you try the "strong" setting and, if so, do you think that affects the temps? It also had an acidic or plastic-y taste and smell. Not sure if it was because it was new.
Sorry. Didnt explain correctly. Weekdays i drink 2 -3 cups. Weekends 1 cup. Was thinking i would waste coffee on days i only drink one cup. Did you ever make 1 cup in the cuisinart? Is it good.
I had to return mine. It didn't brew as hot as my old B&D, there was a plasticy smell and taste, and didn't like the handle. I settled on a "next step down" B&D.
you don't have to leave the bunn on all the time, you can operate it like all other automatic shutoff coffee makers. i timed my cheapy wally mainstays, it takes 18-20 minutes to finish a brew, the bunn will take 15 minutes to get the water up to the 195-205 temp then 4 minutes to finish the brew, of course if you want it fast, yes you need to leave it on, just depends on how you want to do it. also, the cheaper coffee makers takes a while to get to the right temp 195-205, so i.e., most cheaper makers will dispense the water before it gets to the right temp making the coffee grinds not getting the right temp water the whole time while brewing where as the bunn and techni is the right temp throughout the whole brew process. that is the difference in just the temp part of the brewing process. i also checked the temp in my wally main stay, it didn't get to 195 deg until the 14-15 minute mark, then it finally stayed stable between 195-200 til 18 min mark, which the process was finished at that point so 4-5mins brewing at the last few minutes at 195-200 range, no wonder it doesn't taste as good as a bunn or techni or other better brewers, it also didn't bloom whatsoever, and the sprayer head is a small head that dumps in one area, the grounds don't get completely saturated until 5-8 minutes in. lol.
Wow you have done some great research and great details. Thanks for sharing what you know and have found out. This will help me and others that see this. My Bunn seems like if I turn it off then it takes about 20 to 30 min to warm up the water in the holding tank to the correct temp, then you can do a brew. I have been liking the Moccamaster a lot more lately.
thanks for your response, with the novels i wrote i figured you might not respond. lol. sorry for the novels but i tried to keep it as short as possible, too many details. i'm trying to "zero in" on exactly which model to buy for my needs. the #1 reason is for taste. after i tried a commercial series bunn back in april of this year at a restaurant, i was immediately hooked, with that being said, i'm not sure if the smaller mostly plastic home bunn models will taste quite as good as the commercial one so i'm not completely sure if it will generate the same taste as the one i tried. i would love to get that techni because of all the positive reviews for the #1 taste over all other brands but that price for a 10 cup maker is too pricey for me, if i am gonna spend $300 on a unit, i might as well buy the commercial home model from bunn, it is 12 cup capacity, all stainless steel with the option of buying the steel shower head replacement along with the steel filter basket, which would make the whole unit 100% all stainless steel. as far as price goes, just trying to see if a cheaper model of whatever brand (cheaper than $300) would have the same taste and performance as the commercial bunn or the techni, that's where you come in, you are trying to help me so i appreciate that. thank you. one other thing, all of the better models of whatever brand are too tall for my counter space, i only have 13.5" at the most, need something at least 13" down, otherwise, i will have to place the coffee maker on one side of the stove, which is the only place left, hence, that is why i was looking into the bonita model, but after viewing some of the videos on the negatives of it, it made me skeptical, so back to zero, but i haven't ruled it out yet, taste is number one reason for me, so if bonita can recreate that with a smaller unit, i might get it after all, it's around $100, still leaning towards it. this is my journey. thanks for all your help.
You can also use a smart plug with the Bunn. This way you can schedule it to start heating water and turn off at specific times of the day. I’m guessing this way you won’t have to d’escale it as often
i forgot to ask you,,,, which one of these is the smoothest tasting? bitter? sour? watery? i'm looking for velvety smooth, if possible, or closest to velvety.
@@jimjam1719 The cuisinart and the Bunn. The Bunn is very Fast 10 cups in under 4min. but the bunn has some setting up that takes getting used to. The cuisinart is kind of expensive but makes the smoothest tasting cup of coffee with a reusable filter. With a reusable filter you get a little bit of sediment in the coffee that adds in my opinion to the smoothness. best bank for your money is the mr Coffee 12 cup fast brew, its only 25 bucks and taste great. If price is no matter then Cuisinart
I do love my Moccamaster, it looks great and make a great pot of coffee. But it cost $300, just not sure its worth that amount, My second is a Bunn Coffee maker They are fast and coffee taste great. When I am doing K Cups I like my K-Supreme Smart, When I am doing Latte's I love the K Cafe. If I wanted to go down to just 2 I would pick the Moccamaster and k-Cafe
These are pour through coffeemakers, not percolator coffeemakers. Percolator coffeemakers refilter/rebrew some of the brewed coffee. Whereas pour through coffeemakers only fresh hot water pours through the coffee grounds once. Bunn is good if you brew one pot or more each day. Correct me if I am wrong, but none of the controls/features of the coffeemakers add to the taste of the brewed coffee, well other than the cone vs basket filter shape. And even then I would question whether that added or detracted from the brewed coffee taste. Nice video!
Yep, sorry about that, I just get nervous about talking sometimes and say the wrong thing. I am learning. You are correct, none of the controls really help with the brew, I agree the Cone shape filter does seem to produce a better tasting coffee, Also when I use a reusable filter the coffee taste better. Thanks for Watching!! What kind of Coffee maker do you have?
@@bluepen61 That is what I started out with 4 years ago. My dad has had a bunn since the 70's and he swears by them. So I had one and still do but I don't use it as much anymore. I loved it for the speed and taste. It really made me start to love coffee. It was a little hard to understand at first, but I love it. I live about 45 min from the Bunn corporate headquarters in Springfield, IL and drive by the factory all the time.
Great Question. Its hard to beat a Bunn $99 at Walmart but that is kind of high so The Mr Coffee Rapid Brew at Walmart for $30 bucks is also a solid choice.
I’m a coffee drinker and I had a braun but it started telling me error so I finally went and bought another today from kohl’s before it closed got the bunn elite on sale for 129.99 regular price 169.99 I haven’t used it but I hope I made a good decision. I have tried the big bunn coffee makers that business use and that coffee is so good 😁 so I hope it taste the same 😁
You made a great choice, The bunn coffee makers are very good. I made a video on one that is very close to the elite. th-cam.com/video/2bP4YzpDHk8/w-d-xo.html they have a little more prep work because they have an internal water tank that you have to fill up with water and it keeps the water hot all the time so you have to keep the switch in the back on all the time. but remember to turn that switch off if you go on vacation or will not be using the coffee maker more than a week. I have had one and loved it, My dad swears by Bunn and has only used a bunn since the 70's
Great video on the coffeemakers but I think the Moccamaster is the only coffeemaker that gets up to the correct temperature for brewing and the ones your showing fall short of that. The Moccamaster will last a lot longer than one or two years. Thank you for the video.
Getting me the Black and Decker one with a few cloth reusable filters, pretty excited. Only thing is before I buy the filter thing, is there a specific one that would be recommended? Or could I just get any regular one of that sort of shape?
No just a standard coffee filter. I prefer the White or bleached ones to the brown coffee filters. The really promote the brown ones as taste better and better for you, but the white ones I think produce a better cup of coffee.
@@JustADad sweet. Went with a pretty neat-lookin’ cloth reusable filter, and a metal one just to see. Might still end up getting the wasteful paper ones if neither are good, but thanks!
@@JustADad huh, weird. Might be because of the material and it not being bleached paper? I don’t know, I’m kinda knew to coffee stuff. Only thing I can really think of that would make a difference
so you are saying,,,, the bunn has the best taste of all of them but not that much better?? really? the bunn machines i have tasted coffee from were absolutely different from other makers, it made regular classic folgers taste like a million bucks. taste is my #1 consideration for buying a new coffee machine after tasting the bunn difference. question is for me is, is there another machine that can match the taste or better than the bunn? i know the techni can but what are some others? techni is pricey but are there cheaper ones that can match or better? that is my current quest right now. thanks.
I think some of the more basic Coffee's like Folgers doe really well in a Bunn, I have started to buy a little more expensive coffee and I am just starting to grind my coffee fresh each day and the Moccamaster really shines with freshly ground coffee.
ya, i'm sure grinding your own beans and getting quality ones would be better and using either spring water or distilled water would be the best, but for me, i just want to put grinds in, brew, and enjoy, keeping it more simple and quick but with great enough taste. i'm tired of the plastic, cheap, low quality taste of my brews, time to upgrade, also, i'm finding out that could cause problems hormonally/endocrine system (possible), i'm already having issues with my thyroid endocrine system so i want to do process elimination. something serious to think about. thank you very much.
@David Malinovsky Thanks for The link. I am going to be getting a Bonavita and do a review. I got the Braun that is SCA certified and it is a really nice coffee maker.
@@JustADad I was just writing another reply and mentioning the Bonavita. My folks and I were used to BUNN, but didn't really like the water tank (we had been through 2 or 3 BUNN models over about 15 years), so went with Bonavita. It has a powerful heater, so doesn't need a water tank. Finishes a pot in about 5-6 minutes. Cheaper than Technivorm but similar process. After using BUNN and Bonavita it was hard to go back to a coffee maker that takes 12-15 minutes. I still think BUNN brews a tad hotter because the water is already at the right temp, but the water temp I get from the Bonavita is within SCAA range.
@@rodhoutx Thanks for the update. I have not heard much about Bonavita and now I want to try one. Thanks for taking the time to explain what it is like. from the way you talk about it, it sounds like a good coffee maker. Water takes longer to pass through the thicker layer of grounds in a cone filter, better flavor.

Cuisinart gives you a brew done beep and you can turn it off, it also has a clean light to let you know when it's time to decale and it has a automatic descale / clean function, Very easy to change water filter, and I think cone filters brew just a little better.
Thanks for Watching and hope this helps.
You can purchase a 12 cup thermos that fits with the Cusinart. It is amazing when you have company and need a lot of coffee.
Great tip!
Love your reviews.
I appreciate that!
Please compare braun multi serve and the newer cuisine art coffee center ss16 2 in 1 coffee makers.
You give such great coffee maker reviews!! Thumbs up
Wow thanks so much for you support and kind words!!
Thank you so much for sharing your review
You are so welcome!
Thank you So Much 🙂
You're welcome 😊
I have had a Braun KF370 for almost a year and still have trouble with the set up. It absolutely drives me crazy!!
yep the Braun can be tricky to program, not very user-friendly
Great video. Thank you.
You are welcome!
The B&D didn't brew as hot as others I've tried. Did you try the "strong" setting and, if so, do you think that affects the temps? It also had an acidic or plastic-y taste and smell. Not sure if it was because it was new.
the strong setting only does a longer brew, temp is still the same
Sorry. Didnt explain correctly. Weekdays i drink 2 -3 cups. Weekends 1 cup. Was thinking i would waste coffee on days i only drink one cup. Did you ever make 1 cup in the cuisinart? Is it good.
Wolf coffee maker. Nothing better, period. ☕️
Never heard of Wolf coffee maker
I'm partial to the Black & Decker with the vortex water head. For the price it makes a great cup of coffee
yes that is a good coffee maker
I had to return mine. It didn't brew as hot as my old B&D, there was a plasticy smell and taste, and didn't like the handle. I settled on a "next step down" B&D.
You are definitely helping me...thank you! 😁
Your so welcome!!
Just FYI: not much water is lost to steam, it is primarily absorbed by the coffee grounds and filter.
Thank you!
Awesome video. Thanks!
Glad you liked it! Thanks for Watching and Your kind Words!!!
you don't have to leave the bunn on all the time, you can operate it like all other automatic shutoff coffee makers. i timed my cheapy wally mainstays, it takes 18-20 minutes to finish a brew, the bunn will take 15 minutes to get the water up to the 195-205 temp then 4 minutes to finish the brew, of course if you want it fast, yes you need to leave it on, just depends on how you want to do it. also, the cheaper coffee makers takes a while to get to the right temp 195-205, so i.e., most cheaper makers will dispense the water before it gets to the right temp making the coffee grinds not getting the right temp water the whole time while brewing where as the bunn and techni is the right temp throughout the whole brew process. that is the difference in just the temp part of the brewing process. i also checked the temp in my wally main stay, it didn't get to 195 deg until the 14-15 minute mark, then it finally stayed stable between 195-200 til 18 min mark, which the process was finished at that point so 4-5mins brewing at the last few minutes at 195-200 range, no wonder it doesn't taste as good as a bunn or techni or other better brewers, it also didn't bloom whatsoever, and the sprayer head is a small head that dumps in one area, the grounds don't get completely saturated until 5-8 minutes in.
The Cuisinart Coffee maker makes a great pot of coffee.
@@JustADad so, out of all those you have in the video, the cuisinart 14cup is the smoothest.?.
Thank you for your helpful reviews. I am interested in possibly purchasing the H.B. without Alexa, but cannot find it online. Do you have the model #?
see this on amazon amzn.to/3jNUJhq
I can smell it from here...mmmm 😊
It's so good!
Of all the coffee pots you test including ninja … to mochamaster… do you have a favorite or one that you use regularly… I’m about longevity
Thank You, this was helpful.
You're welcome!
@@JustADad Bunn. A pot brewed every morning.
@@JustADad Bunn invented the paper coffee filter.
@@bluepen61 Ow wow
I cannot find the Mr coffee machine you are demonstrating. I would like to buy it but don’t see it on line or the model #
I finally found this coffee machine at Kohls. I guess this is my next coffee maker.
I’ve noticed in the last 10 15 yrs that coffee makers in general just last for a few months (and yes I did clean with decal/vinager)
I thought I'd get a Bunn Heat N Brew... But watching this video and the fact the speed brew is only 4 minutes.... That's not long at all
Good video
Thanks
Which dripper would you recommend for someone looking to make about 30oz of coffee a morning? @justadad
Thank you! I have set it up and giving it a try this morning
Well, I was thinking about getting the Mr. Coffee Rapid brew, but it was hard to find and got mediocre reviews. Back to the drawing board.
I made another video, th-cam.com/video/Wp3ML4V6Lrg/w-d-xo.html
Used to have a Bunn but it's too small. I wish they would make a 12 cup model...
Yeah that would be a poplar coffee maker
The Cuisinart comes with BPA free parts hence the price. I appreciate your video on setup of Cuisinart it was helpful.
Thanks for the update!
@@JustADad you’re welcome. Question if we unplug the cord from coffee machine will we loose the programming that we previously set?
@@fashionandluxury101 yes with most coffee makers if you loose power for more than 40 sec then you loose the settings and clock.
@@JustADad Thx so much
You can pause the Bunn by opening the lid.
This was very good, thanks. Need a maker less than 12" tall; any ideas? Also is Bunn still made in America?
not sure on the bunn, maybe the front access hamilton beach 12 cup coffee maker
Cuisinart refurbished can be bought for $59 now
Coffee tastes much better and does not need to be descaled if you put drinking water in it.
Nice review. Feel sorry for whatever you got all these plugged into LOL.
Yeah I had lots of extension cords. Thanks for Watching and your kind words!!!
Great video on the coffeemakers but I think the Moccamaster is the only coffeemaker that gets up to the correct temperature for brewing and the ones your showing fall short of that. The Moccamaster will last a lot longer than one or two years. Thank you for the video.
Thanks for the info!
I agree but JAD is just trying to inform those who aren't coffee aficionados like us!
@@feraltrafficcone4483 I think you might like the reusable better, It seems the coffee taste better with a reusable filter.
@@JustADad huh, weird. Might be because of the material and it not being bleached paper? I don’t know, I’m kinda knew to coffee stuff. Only thing I can really think of that would make a difference
@@feraltrafficcone4483 Welcome to The coffee world and enjoy your journey. I started mine about 3 years ago. let me know if I can help.
None of the machines are a percolator. they are drip coffee makers.
so you are saying,,,, the bunn has the best taste of all of them but not that much better?? really? the bunn machines i have tasted coffee from were absolutely different from other makers, it made regular classic folgers taste like a million bucks. taste is my #1 consideration for buying a new coffee machine after tasting the bunn difference. question is for me is, is there another machine that can match the taste or better than the bunn? i know the techni can but what are some others? techni is pricey but are there cheaper ones that can match or better? that is my current quest right now.
I am in the same boast, I loved Bunn but I am finding I don't like the water tank always having water in it and on all the time. Thanks again!!
Yup
Sir, these are drip coffee makers, not perculator types of coffee makers just to be accurate
Thanks
B&D makes tea watery coffee. I won't buy one ever again. We sent to back already.
To keep the water warm is a waste of electricity.
Paper filters equal paper taste. They all mildew except Bunn.
f%$^ me dude. my headphones made it sound like someone was behind me when the first beep went off and scared the shit right out of me.
Alexa can just stay out of my kitchen.
Yeah not sure Alexa is ready for coffee makers yet
Bunn sucks because you can't clean out the water reservoir. You get a bacteria reservoir.
They brew faster if you stop opening the lids…
LOL thanks for that, you are correct. what is your favorite Coffee maker?
Too much talking! Start the test!
Sorry!
@@JustADadnah don’t apologize dad
