Omg I forgot to say in the video, thank you all SO MUCH for 15,000 subscribers! That was literally my personal target to reach by the end of 2024, so the fact we're there already means the world to me 🥺💖
Yeonjun has always been the target of hate ever since txt debuted. It’s like ever since he got praised and labeled the 4th gen it boy every other fandom suddenly got enraged and made it their mission to tear him down. Whether it be about his weight, or his hair, or his talent… they will find any reason to try to discredit him. As a moa, it’s satisfying to watch him continue to be successful despite the haters and that is exactly what Ggum is about. He is addicting like gum and also he will stick around no matter how hard they try to get rid of him.
I don’t think there is an it boy in 4 gen, he has too little impact compared to let’s say Jimin, Jungkook and Tae. You could also compare him to Wonyoung who is an it girl or Karina, who is even more popular internationally.
@@everythingsfinett3903ok what? Everyone agreed he is ‘the / one of the 4th gen it boy’ stop comparing everything to BTS pls. And he’s so talented and has a massive impact!
GGUM may not be everyone's cup of tea and we are all free to express our opinions, but sh*tting on him to the point that y'all are attacking him personally like he's done something horrible/crime... Y'all are the real problem! Joblessness and jealousy is taking over your pea brains. Also, to make it clear, mixtape is different from an album. Mixtapes are often used by artists to showcase their creativity and experiment with different styles. So it's not necessary casuals to like it. They are not made for commercial success unlike an album.
@PoojaKumari-ty6sh Whether the allegations are false or not is irrelevant because the person above saw people compare Yeonjun to someone they thought was a criminal. On another note, I wish sensible people would leave twt because they are adding to the problem by engaging with lunatics, and hence fanning the fire of that dumpster site
@@Sevstan I couldn't do it. The stupidity in TH-cam comments makes me want to slap some sense into these people. I think I'll go crazy if I were to go on Twitter. Their stupid seriously can't be fixed
ive seen wild comments being said abt him that go way beyond and have no relation with disliking the song. disliking a song doesn't give you the right to insult the person themselves
Since TXT debuted, people have been hating on them for any nonsensical reason they can think of. And among TXT members, Yeonjun is their favorite punching bag. Kpop stans always have something against titles like "The IT girl/boy" and try their best to tear down any idol that's named that title. Just look at Wonyoung. Yeonjun is the male counterpart of Wonyoung, but the hate is slightly more dialed down. And his solo debut irked the haters because Yeonjun showed what he's made of, and the haters couldn't really insult his talent, so they are now using use other means to diminish his accomplishments.
@@PreciousNathaniel-z9o If they are solo stans we can't call them Moa. Moa is TXT's fandom, a group of 5. Although if there are "Moas" who hate him or envy him for debuting solo before their favorite member, well, they are pathetic.
The fact that the meaning behind ggum is deeper. Someone said that ggum sounds like dream in Korean and basically the whole song is about his dreams and how he wishes things went differently. Hence the whole idea of a boot stepping on a piece of “ggum” ☹️☹️
I haven't thought about it this way because it's pronounced differently from 꿈 (romanised kkum or ggum), but now that you mention it, the analogy does make sense 🤔
And without this pun, it's still about dreams and not caring about anyone, hate, insecurities and fright... The lyrics literally says "forget to be humble when I'm on the floor"
They are mad and jealous cuz he's talented, hardworking and unproblematic. Even if they try to get him down, Yeonjun will always be loved, respected, and appreciated in real life. A lot of professionals (choreographers, singing coaches) recognized his potential, even idols in the industry sees him as their role model. No hate twt can bring down a talented and unproblematic idol. In fact, his mixtape is doing better on charts than actual comebacks of kpop male soloists this year. Everyone is seated for him.
People here saying the it's just because the song is "bad" when they were being racist, wishing him dea*d and r4p3, i can't belive how mean people is when yj didn't do nothing bad
The contradictory blending of objectification and prudishness that exists on kpop twitter is so fascinating. Y'all treat idols like meat and then turn around and clutch your pearls over choreography? Get a grip.
Despite all this.. he is still sweet and kind to us. Why do people take advantage of this? What benefit would u possibly get from hurting someone who has been nothing but understanding and kind to you?
I think that ever since last year ppl have been waiting for another chance to hate on txt. A lot of people seem to think that they have a lot of privilege(payola) bc their bts’s brother group but they’re on the lower tier of groups that get promo from hybe. And bc they haven’t had an explosively popular comeback since temptation era stantwt seems to think they’re “falling off”, thus more of a reason to hate on them. There’s also the 4th gen it boy argument that’s never ending. So a lot of people have been waiting on a chance to hate on Yeonjun. And even the ones who didn’t hate him but also maybe token stanned him(mainly gg stans) were expecting something like taemin’s music instead of what ggum was
I also expected something like Taemin Criminal or thought maybe it will be more hip hop. I did not like Ggum at all. I did like the rap parts, but rest of the song was weird. Kind of reminded me of Sh La La by Taeyong that I also disliked.
nah ggum was a breath of fresh air for once, i find groups under hybe to at least try to be interesting and not just pop. that's probably the main problem with kpop, and why some groups are more popular than others/ songs are liked but not albums.
The thing that frustrates Me is the people expecting something like another idol, when anyone who actually knows Yeonjun would not be surprised He would release a song like GGUM
@@acoulter8913 fr! The song, it literally screams Yeonjun. And in the recent video uploaded by bighit, it shows him being involved with everything from lyrics, mv, choreography, everything.
My boy has always been the villain of every 4 gen fandom, they never let him breath but that just shows the power he holds y'all this is also just a pre release so just imagine their reactions when album releases.
Yall clearly need to learn A LOT about music and its varieties/genres There is a specific genre in music it is called "funk hip hop" and Yeonjun's song is a part of it... Just bcz you close your eyes doesnt mean that the world is dark.. similarly just bcz YOU didnt like it doesnt make the song bad And please the people hating on his choreography are fine with skz choreographies, Lesserafim's smart, KOL's sticky, etc😂😂😂 the hypocrisy just bcz he is THE CHOI YEONJUN😎
@@Can_think_of_a_name The reasons were different though? People hated on lsrfm because Eunchae was a minor, skz was hated because it looks "weird", and kiof was hated for copying tyla and were bodyshamed. Yeonjun is outright being called a r@p1st and m1osgynist for his dance moves, which weren't even choregraphed by him.
4:37 Nah Yeonjun doesn't deserve the hate 🤦♀️ but WTF why did they have to bring TREASURE into it for no reason???... This is why I f*cking deleted Twitter. 😑
i deleted twitter a while ago bc brazilian court has banned it from the country a few weeks ago. glad i was right about feeling i was not missing out on much if that's what people are doing there.
I don't understand haters. I get constructive criticism (although that in and of itself is hard to express in kpop without certain fans bashing you for not loving everything an artist does). But dog-piling makes you and every other person participating the bad one, not the person at the bottom of the pile. In regards to ggum specifically, the hip-thrusting feels more like an f-you than sexual. I admit, it's generally used as a sexual move (and, as a hater of hip-thrusts, I still think less is more, but this was so in your face it felt aggressive and pointed. Which fits with the lyrics. Appreciate your take and agree with the bulk of your points. I was about to be upset when you said those were fan quotes, but then you explained. Thankfully, my "side" of twitter has been mostly positive to Yeonjun. I think I'll go and stream ggum again. Great video!
It’s never constructive criticism. It’s never the fans giving it. It’s haters. If you don’t like something you ignore it. If you don’t like something and comment negatively about it you are hating. Kpop fans enable hating in the guise of constructive criticism. Y’all don’t want them to get better, yall want your opinions heard. Saying someone can’t sing; can’t rap, can’t dance, is not constructive. Most kpop stans don’t know a riff from a run or a pop from strobing. To be constructive you have to give useful information. Y’all are just mean bullies.
I agree with you! It's more of like, provoking move as if saying they can hate all they wish but he is still winning, types. And it's happening. Like, he made a trap in the song and the haters literally fell for it.
As a Blink, I always thought Yeonjun is loved by everyone (he is my bias in TXT). I didn't like his song but I still love him as an idol and will follow his journey. I believe that Hybe gets so much hate because of some trends they put onto the Kpop music industry with their groups New Jeans, Le sserafim, Illit, Enhypen (I am talking about new groups cause BTS and TXT have nothing to do with this, they have their own identity). This hate comes from fans who happen not to enjoy this type of music and seek for the old Kpop music imo. So the hate happens to attack all Hybe idols cause the antis focus on the whole company
these stans always cry... HYBE CHANGED KPOP SOUND. Yet this is what a bighit artist recieves when he create something else than soft y2k. if created same he would have get plagiarism allegation 😅. it's bloodbath for hybe artists..
not to mention that the choreo was actually made by a team of women! it really doesn't matter what yeonjun released, people would have nitpicked and torn it apart using anything they could find. I do agree with the points of double standards but again, that is the fault of the large organisations and companies and leeching onto yeonjun was just out of pure spite for a guy who has CONSISTENTLY shown hard work, talent and love for what he does
I'm absolutely BAFFLED at why people are even still on Twitter. It's more of a hellscape than it's ever been 😬 As for his solo, it's an ear worm and extremely catchy but still not for me. The hip thrust and pitched up vocals in the beginning are a bit awkward, but I would never spend my precious valuable time convincing others to see things my way lol People can and should like what they like. End of story.
Girl you worded it better than I could! 😭 People don’t understand that they are adding to the problem by not deleting their twitter, and if the good people left in droves then twitter would become less popular, and each person can make an impact by leaving. Thankfully I never had twitter, but I hate the way it spills onto other sites like TH-cam. Hearing about my bias getting those awful threats makes me feel sick to my stomach
Ggum is an ear worm that grows on you the more you listen to it. I love it. I think the main objective of the song was to be a performance piece, and it does that amazingly, the mv and all the dance stages are so fun to watch. So many kpop fans have been waiting for a day to hate on yeonjun because he makes them insecure or jealous, and that more than anything cements his relevance to me. Stars aren't made by following the crowd but by creating something new and fresh. This was an amazing solo debut
I'm not a MOA but gum is literally a bop I like it the hip thrust is also funny the song is fun I do agree with something though I wish they would've showed more of his vocals.
I've never been a MOA, more like a casual txt listener. I don't even follow them on social media and I don't get why people hate so much. The song is fire. If its not your cup to tea, ignore it. But for me, I hope there is more coming. It's on repeat and I really enjoy his live shows.
Ok I had to go check out the video to see what the fuss was all about and honestly the hip thrust move is not pearl clutch worthy and it happens ONCE even in the music show performance sooooooo yea the outrage is forced to say the least.
Yeonjun is an artist and he deserves respect. If you don’t like his song move on and leave him alone. Everyone is entitled to their opinions but you don’t need to drag him down to make it known. I love the song and the hip thrust move is so on point with the beat it’s insane. Yeonjun is an incredible artist and I am proud of him.
its so sad bcs yeonjun himself is a very tender hearted person and has always been very vocal about breaking gender norms as well as taking care of not just our own mental health but also other idols’. and yet ppl target this same man for what? releasing music they dont like? dancing? misogyny in the industry? even going so far as to wish him sa and death.. i hate twitter
thanks for addressing this. Kpop fans are a joke some of u all need to learn to ignore things u don't like. Will be tuning in for his mixtape GGUM was fire
The same thing is happening to many idols. There's been a tsunami of accounts trying to rage-bait people into interacting since now you can get money from Twitter. There are entire accounts pretending to be fans (of anything, really) just to only talk badly about other artists (often their direct competition). It's becoming so annoying to be on Twitter tbh
I've loved yeonjun for years and didn't like the song. It was extremely easy to just... move on and wait for the mix tape instead of throwing hate online like... why do all that it's not that serious and he's still a great artist 💀
For real, I love TXT and anything they do but haven't listened to GGUM because I didn't like the sound of it at first. Still, no hate, I'll def listen to it soon
I’m honestly really terrified and traumatised at the amount of sexualisation of each TXT member is getting (I’m scared of those “MOAs”) from just filming the TikTok challenge. Like it is literally just a TikTok dance there is absolutely NO reason for you to be screenshotting and zooming in on their crotch. That’s so gross! Plus there have been so many dances on TikTok (and in TXT’s choreography) involving hip thrusts or explicit moves so why only now do they do pop out and do this so freely(like posting about how they were turned on and shit, frankly ew. Pls go to a mental hospital) I love ggum and the choreography, as a female dancer myself I see no problem in the dance(even if it is a bit awkward I wasn’t surprised to see it cuz it is very much yeonjun’s style) and I think the song is really catchy too (a bit short tho TvT) stream ggum!! Like yeonjun says in the song, he doesn’t give two shits about what others say because either way the song will stick like gum in their heads so lets not give a shit either and let those disgusting people revel in their pitiful self-claimed glory. ~MOA❤
No fr. I only use pinterest and yt as a social platform and I literally had to report THOSE photos of Soobin. And ofcourse, the comments were off or the person who posted them would have been dragged
This was such a great video! This is why I left stan twitter (and the fact that it got banned in my country, lmao). Everyone takes things to the extreme, and it's exhausting. Yeonjun is my bias, but I didn't really enjoy Ggum. It's just not my style. However, that doesn't mean I'll just start hating him or think he's not talented! One of my favorite things about k-pop is how much variety it has in terms of musical styles and genres! We've also seen countless sexy and daring moves from other groups, so it seems a bit hypocritical to criticize Yeonjun for the hip thrusting. The conservative ideologies and double standards really are a problem, but that's not his fault. A lot of kpop stans seem to not understand the difference between hate and constructive criticism.
Dude, I completely feel the same! Especially the multiple different genres is true to txt. Like Blue Hour vs Looser Lover? I love Yeonjun but music wise we don't really match. And that's okay! Doesn't mean the song is bad though...
@@IlloyedKater Exactly!!! My favorite group is Stray Kids, but I don't love every single song they put out, and that's okay. Same with Yeonjun. None of these reasons are valid to hate him!
i love that you cover current events with ur own perspective, alot of other kpop youtubers will just summarize whats going on but i enjoy ur videos more bc its ur unique pov on the situation while also being informative, great video!!
not about yeonjun, but i wanted to say thank you cuz the last part of the video was exactly what i needed to hear today. i agree with you and i've been thinking about the dynamics of kpop twt as well, so it's nice to find someone who also thinks about that. in twt i just feel like i'm screaming into the void until i'm not and sudenly i'm getting dragged for whatever i said and was misinterpreted. i've seen your channel pop up in my recommendations, but never decided to actually watch cuz i've watched a fair amount of kpop video essays before and they tend to sound like a long and angry twitter thread to me. which i dislike very much. this video feels like a light tbh, so thank u for your opinions and for taking the time to present them in a respectful way 💕
Disclaimer : Twiiter/X has became a place for immature/brainless stans , so people should stop goinig on twitter for the sake of their mental health 1. For a normal solo release i would understand why people would be critical of him , but this a mixtape, not a mini album or full album. Mixtapes is really not meant for commercial success , it's more about releasing experimental music. This shouldn't be treated like a proper debut to be exact , in terms of a music release. The heavy autotune used can be explained , because its a mixtape 2. Yes Bighit is investing too much into a mixtape , with music show promotions. They are trying to make use of Yeonjun's popularity 3. TBH The spotify streams are 5.9M . So those idiots yapping on Twitter are just jobless and brainless. Yeonjun is doing well and people who genuinely like GGUM go stream it. Don't need to get caught up in the criticisms , this sh*t happens with every artists solo relase
As a Moa, I say we are not too concerned about stan twt hate. Yeonjun is simply the only male soloist apart from BTS to debut with 1M streams on Spotify. The audio in tiktok has been blowing up. Male and FEMALE idols and dancers are doing the ggum challenge. Gggum has been VERY sucessful and no hate of bot accounts will change that (yes, some of these hit tweets started in accounts with 13 followers, probably someone paid for them to get boost). And about the choreography being *banned* - Nayeon performed the uncensored version of ABCD in one music show (EP.849 | Mnet 240620 ) and the perfomance is still on. It is not banned per se, otherwise the perfomance wouldn't be on youtube, would it?, she just choose to do a lighter version! These people are waiting for any opportunity to hate on hybe idols and that's the truth. No matter what they do, they will get hate trains simply because they are sucessful and have a strong fandom. That's my take.
I've been saying this so many times : yeonjun is hated bcs he's too loved. he's surrounded by ppl from the kpop industry that really cares and looks up to him. ppl hate that.
I also want to add that since recently male idols have been under a lot of hot water for inappropriate behaviors people esp stan twt thinks its ok to hate on a male idol and put female idols on a high pedestal. It’s ok to have a preference but straight up bashing and online bullying of male idols should stop
Yes, but the hate popular female idols get is still way bigger and nastier than what popular male idols get. Popular male idols can get hate if they do or say something the public dislikes but popular female idols get hate for breathing and existing.
Thank you so much 😀😀😊😉Yeonjun is great ! He is so talented and the song is good. Besides, if this solo song isn't the one that you like, just find another one. And Yeonjun has lots of good work as well.. Haters gonna hate anyway ...
It just means he is becoming very relevant. Haven’t you noticed the pattern? Once an idol starts getting very popular/relevant, you see a lot of haters appear. The more popular an idol gets the more haters they get, so Yeonjun fans should not be pissed, it just means your boy is really solidifying his position as the 4th gen It boy
@@nidemens literally with more fame comes more hate unfortunately. I just wish they didn’t have to deal with this level of hatred at only 17. It’s Wonyoung all over again
I totally understand people who are upset because of the double standards, ngl I also felt pretty disappointed with the amount of love everyone gave this dance move, while the same people were dragging female idols for doing sexy moves. Like "if female idol twerks, she's a S-word, but male idols being half naked on stage is sooooo hot" typa bs. Honestly this should be the topic of a whole another video. However it is NOT okay to hate Yeonjun because of it. It's not his fault that some people are sexists and hypocrites. I really hope that this situation will settle down soon, he didn't deserve all this hate
i totally understand what you mean by the sexist double standards that a lot of kpop stands hold but at the same time, i feel like so much of the criticism for this move has been about how sexual it is. for example, the "digital std" comment that was shown in the video had nothing to do with double standards, it was very plainly dragging the sexuality of the move. tbf i have also seen a lot of criticism of the lack of censorship, but a lot of it also seems to be about the sexuality of the move itself
Seeing yeonjun getting unreasonable hate just makes me want to cry. I feel so bad for him is literally his first solo project . Moas will be always here for you , please don't listen to them 😭 like imagine hating him for no reason just because he's too perfect
Another great video ❤️ I'm with you that the hip thrust move threw me off at first but I'm guessing that's the point. Watching the MV, it seemed he was going for a rebel "break the mold" type of concept. And he succeeded cause this is way different from TXT's image and concepts. I honestly didn't know there was a hate train about the debut cause I'm not on X but I'm not surprised (everyday I'm grateful I'm not on Stan twitter). As for my thoughts on the debut, it's fun, it's edgy, it's confident and I love that for Yeonjun.
Much of the lyrical meaning of GGUM is being displayed, Haters can't stop thinking about Him but He succeeds anyway. The song performed well & is still doing well & its only a pre-release the whole mixtape hasn't even come out yet & people are this puffed up over it. Those people tweeting offensive, racist, vile things about YJ still lose in the end because They are inadvertently getting more people seated for the full mixtape release in October
@@kimmeer4299 BigHit announced that he would be releasing a pre-release of "Ggum" on September 19, ahead of the release of his first mixtape "Yeonjun's Mixtape: Ggum" which implies that there still could be more songs with the physical release, which I would love for it to be an actual mixtape with all the songs that he worked on because He has a vault full of unreleased music from over the years because I remember He said "Happy Fools" was going to be apart of His Mixtape. I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you I just don't want to eliminate the possibility 💕
a lot of people always talk about how you aren't "allowed" to dislike songs on stan twitter and while i have seen that behavior i think it is at least partially motivated by instances like these. like people see artists getting so much undeserved hate and over-correct in the opposite direction where you absolutely HAVE to love EVERY single song that your favs ever put out otherwise you're a hater. i think stan twitter (twitter in general really) often pushes people to take the most extreme stance on things because having a lukewarm but more measured opinion doesn't get you as much attention. i mean in the case of yeonjun i'm not the biggest fan of ggum as i find the vocal processing in some parts to be kind of grating but saying "oh it's not for me but yeonjun's stage presence is still really great i hope he comes out with something that's for me down the line" doesn't get the likes and retweets that blaming yeonjun for an entire country's double standards and sexism does.
because they finally found a reason to bully him. it went beyond “not liking a song” turned into threats of all kind, bullying him for his appearance and more
Honestly miserable people on stan twt have been waiting for literally any reason to attack any txt member, they always do. The good thing is that stan twt hate is never real, twt isnt real life, also bc the hate is only there, the rest of socmed or irl people arent even aware of the hate train and/or like the song. I wish that those ppl that dehumanize YJ are never happy :-).
this whole situation just made it clearer to me how hypocritical kpop stans are in general. they will hate on idols for being shy or quiet bc it means they're "boring", but then idols with more out there, confident personalities are called "cringe" and that they "need to learn their place". a lot of them will zoom in when an idol's shirt flies up during a performance or they get flashed by other members (bonus points if they're an idol who doesn't show much skin and talks about not being comfortable with it) but if an idol dares to do something suggestive or wear a more revealing outfit on their accord they get called every name under the sun. it's disgusting. on ggum specifically, i think it was a pretty cool debut, only wish it was a little longer lol. yeonjun definitely pulls off this rebellious idgaf concept very well, and i love the red hair and the overall styling. hopefully this hate train stays on a bubble and doesn't affect him too much.
i didnt know people were hating on him... he definetly doesnt deserve it, and i am one of the ones that is also tired of the hip thrust thing. I love the song though.
Thank you for making this video, I have been feeling the same and didn't see a lot of people saying this. I enjoy the song and feel if your one of the people that don't agree then just move on to another song, no need to hate on others
On the Internet, you can be whatever you want to be. It's sad that so many people choose to be hateful. Everything about Yeonjun's solo debut was amazing: the music, the choreography, the video...I hope he doesn't let all of this bring him down.
I think people who are criticizing negatively barely watched his full performance which was spectacular the full song is so catchy. Most of those tweets you shared are made by trolls and not the general opinion of people I talked to about this song. His future will be fine because he's a talented guy
I'm a multi stan, and I just don't get hate. Like there are groups, artists and/or songs I don't like. Like even my ult-group(s) have songs that I dislike... why should I post negative commets, or even hate?!? As long as there are no criminal offenses just let people be, it's art and either it's your vibe or it's not. Also: I really like the song, the choreo and I LOVE Yeonjun
people who are angry that ggum doesnt sound like what they expect just doesnt know who yeonjun is. If you've been following txt and yeonjun, ggum is the most yeonjun song in existence 😭 its fine if u dont like it but you dont know yeonjun like that to decide what his solo debut should sound like 🙁 dont know why yall would think he'd do something like taemin.. and if he does everyone will be calling him the cheap copy of him so either way yall will be hating on yeonjun anyway 🤷🏻♀️

Twitter is the most toxic social media platform, that's the only reason why I am not on it as much as I used to. I personally love Yeonjun's debut, it showcases his talent as an all rounder and an artist. I don't get why people are so upset with him when he didn't do anything wrong. Dance move? I've seen worse. It's not his fault that there are double standards on music shows. People are blaming him for things that are out of his control
A reason I made a new twitter account and stopped following most Kpop content. Because people tend to hate on literally EVERYTHING. I’m into Kpop since 2008 and stayed long enough, but in the past years, especially in the past 4 years or so, everything got so exhausting, toxic. You can’t say an opinion without getting bashed. Idols can’t say or do anything, without someone feeling attacked. I follow what txt are doing and love them, but even though I barely follow any other stuff, it makes enjoying his solo sooo difficult, because I still see lots of negative stuff. I just wish he won‘t see all the negativity about his solo and keeps going strong. I loved the song and the choreo.
Yess I definitely feel that people had quite specific expectations for this song, so maybe some of the hate also came from that when these expectations weren't met!
@@dearyoongiyeah, agree but what they're doing is child play like the hell? What were you expecting?? (I saw a few post on tweet that they were expecting him to do like Taemin) He is Yeonjun, the Choi Yeonjun and he doesn't need to copy someone. He has his own vibes. Straightly if they don't like it then they should leave it without any hate. They were just waiting for this moment so bad
imagine being so miserable with your life you hate on someone without a good reason… ofc twitter shitheads are making a big deal.. go do something productive instead of hating on someone online
Let this man live and just grow up this man already made the song and perform it live like grow up and stop being childish and the song is doing amazing and if you don’t like it then don’t listen to it
I seriously doubt the people hating on him now EVER were his fans … the comments ive seen about him have nothing to do with critique or opinion. They are pure unjustified hate.
Thank you for your words. Very wise and thoughtful. Whether you like a song or not there’s no need to attack a person for their looks or character. Yeonjun did great with this song and can’t wait to hear the tracks in the full mixtape 🔥
Answer: insecurity and jealousy, they were waiting for this. Kpop stans from different fandoms (esp 4th gen fandoms) always viewed txt and especially YJ as a threat, they were harassing him very often, but with his solo mixtape, they finally could hate on him together in one place. You are not telling me that dehumanizing, being racist, insulting, wishing 💀 and 🍇 over a song is normal :) The hate they have for him needs to be studied. GGUM still topped charts, twitter hate means nothing, the song is a hit and is getting viral on various platforms.
I am moa ive been a moa since 2019 personally his debut isnt my cup of tea and thats OK. It doesnt mean i suddenly “hate” him actually im happy one of the members finally managed to do a solo song i hope the rest of the members will follow too! I think i understand why there would be mixed reactions i personally dont like the hip thrusting not just in this choreo but literally any male choreo its just…we get it you know?😭but in the end of the day even if i dont like the song i havent been going out of my way to show it… like why do we have to take it one step further and unnecessarily give off full on hate comments…just dont listen to the song if you dont like it it aint that hard😭
More creators, esp those with younger audiences, need to speak on these things more! Things are getting so bad and it's like people forget to care that these are real people they're hurting. Twitter was always extreme, but with the takeover, it seems to have become even more of a hateful wasteland than before. Saw a vid by D'Angelo recently where he did an experiment that highlighted the stream of negativity on there - even whilst he clearly blocks certain accounts or explicitly searched for positive content. It's not a good space for critical or empathetic thinking.
So glad I got off twitter like a year and a half ago. Seems like no one likes FUN and just wants to hate on things. I love this song, choreo, and MV. Everything fits Yeonjun's stage persona. I can see how someone who doesn't like gum could not like the MV, that's reasonable. But otherwise, if you don't like the song or choreography, then that's fine. Move on to something you DO like.
If it’s one thing I am absolutely sure of in this world is that K-POP fans are incapable of understanding the importance of nuance or that constructive criticism does in fact have a place in discussions about idols.
i loved the song AND the choreography. Hes a talented dude. its giving GD & Dawn coded aswell a bit! i had no clue who this guy was prior to this either hahah.
if something isnt your taste, you dont need to bash it. sending death threats and body shaming someone who doesn’t even know you is so childish. please get a life! im not even a fan of the song myself yet im not gonna go around spreading negativity about it just because it’s my opinion. twt stans PLEASE touch some grass.
F those people, those who criticize him with hateful comments, and joking on them are immature, I know that hip thrust thing is something to talk about but not like this, creating jokes and cussing them, seriously I am proud of jjunie, this song clearly resonates with his persona. LET IDOLS LIVE AND DO WHATEVER THEY WANT!!!!
As an It Boy, you always have a target on your back. Just look at BTS's Jimin and the crap he constantly has to deal with. But Yeonjun is still thriving at the end of the day.
It's might just be my opinion only, but it seems the thin line between constructive and hateful comments has become much, much more blurry nowadays. Saying mean words to someone will not helping them improve, duh. Or maybe it's just that those mean people are thriving to find a target to attack, that's all.
I absolutely agree with this! What people may think is just them sharing their opinions sometimes comes cross much more hurtful and hateful rather than constructive in any way
I´m not a moa, but I enjoy a lot TXT. I was excited for his solo, and I loved it. For me it was surprising to hear that people were hating on him, cause of a dance move. If you don´t like something, just don´t watch it, cause in this case it isn't a bad thing. Hope he grows even more, because I feel that he is very passionate, dedicate, and good at his job, he also cares a lot about his fans, so haters gotta keep hating. Personally, even tho I stan other groups, Yeonjun being called it boy, is just a popular opinion and doesn´t mean my fav idols are any worse. Let's keep talking as healthy and supportive kpop fans, but above that, normal people with empathy
I was lucky enough to recently see TXT live- They are all amazing performers and people! The Ggum choreography is eye catching for sure. I was not surprised by the double standards of k music shows (it speaks to bigger issues). Yeojun nails this choreo so well. I love him for his bravery and attitude! I hope he knows how his hard work and talents are meaningful .
love the song, Yeonjun is so talented, twitter hating means nothing when the song is being successful everywhere else, twt is for trolls remember that guys!
What is wrong with people? If you don't like it, that's fine. But to say it's your joy that people hate him? WILD. Also Ggum is a bop and the choreo is fire, brb streaming it more Love to Moa from Stayville ❤
Kpop twitter is irrelevant and I’m not sure why anyone would give credence to the attention-seeking. This is a group of people who whine that Kpop is only about visuals now (it has literally always been about visuals but that’s another story) but then gleefully bash an idol for their looks. You can’t have it both ways. They get mad when idols are infantilized but then freak out over mature concepts. Hip thrusts are fine but also horrible. Make up your damn mind.
As someone who loves Sticker, Ggum took a little longer than Sticker to get used to. I feel as if it's missing something before the chorus (maybe a couple more bars, it feels like we just jump right into the chorus - it sounds a bit sudden and offbeat) and I'm also not a fan of empty choruses so that combination was bothering me for a while. Otherwise the song is quite fun (it's still on rotation) and I think Yeonjun is an artist who will only get better from here, I mean he's already ridiculously good his trajectory can only go up from here. I hope none of this deters him from trying things nobody expects from him, he looked so excited in that clip that everyone is hating on I need him to keep that enthusiasm and passion in his artistry for a very long time. He's gonna do BIG things, everyone knows it even if they don't wanna admit it. Like Beyoncé said: "You know you that b*tch when you cause all this conversation."
Im kinda on a similar boat as u, but back then i hated how sticker sounds esp after 127 released the bop that was Kick It. Ggum hooked me immediately after just 1 listen. Maybe because i've accepted it's the kind of song meant to be performed so it's not the typical verse-chorus-bridge composition. I see how yeonjun is very satisfied with Ggum though, it's fun, catchy, very funky in general. I do love that he doesn't cater to 'marketable' sounds and just do what he believes represent his color the most. That imo is his true charm as an artist. Moreover ggum is just a start, yeonjun still hasn't showcase his rap and vocal! Though in concerts he already did, I especially loved his Kick Back cover so much. His live performance was AMAZING!! Kenshi Yonezu's song requires HUGE energy to perform, and yeonjun delivered that beautifully. I believe he will do well in whatever solo project he will have next
@@bubblesparks yeah I get that but for me, I like the more "unpopular" NCT songs (Kitchen Beat, Gimme Gimme, Chain, Punch, Simon Says) so Sticker was only jarring for a couple of hours before I got it. Also I'm not the biggest fan of Yeonjun's rapping but I LOVE his vocal tone (Drama, Way Home, Devil By The Window, Deja Vu are a few of my favourite vocal performances by him) so I'm even more excited for the time when he decides to incorporate that more into his solo work. I loved his Kick Back cover for the same reason you mentioned, he is such a charismatic performer who never backs down from a challenge and it shines through on stage (I feel like after trying to cover that once, I would’ve tapped out and tried a less intense song haha)
While I do blieve that there is a double standard in the industry I find it relly Immture when people are literally finding him to be the problem when in reality it isn't and as someone who is a fan of both yeonjun and txt I find it quite idiotic of the hate they get and find it quite annoying at times as well
So some people twist their panties over a few hip thrusts in his choreo, while other idols do their dance moves with the bare minimum of clothing or even ripping their shirts on stage? Lord.... 🙄 That's why I think it would be better, if you only can register in sns with your real names instead of nicknames. The amount of hate comments would decrease drastically
When you said that the twitter bubble is very different compared to the youtube bubble, i really felt that. I have an opinions book about KPop on Wattpad and many stuff I post there would bring me death threats on Twitter but on Wattpad almost everyone is so well behaved and even if they disagree with me, it stays respectful. I guess your community is a very healthy one (unlike some other Ktubers) and thats why you know you can post videos like this here :) I think thats a very good thing and that really says a lot about you and your content :)
And he ate them haters up, period 💅
I don’t think there is an it boy in 4 gen, he has too little impact compared to let’s say Jimin, Jungkook and Tae. You could also compare him to Wonyoung who is an it girl or Karina, who is even more popular internationally.
Yeonjun scares me
@@Awordforangeleaves How? He’s such a cutie ☺️

Also, to make it clear, mixtape is different from an album. Mixtapes are often used by artists to showcase their creativity and experiment with different styles. So it's not necessary casuals to like it. They are not made for commercial success unlike an album.

You will be surprised to learn that some of the hate Yeonjun receives comes from MOA who are OT1 biased, although they are not the majority.
Really wow I haven't heard that before, where have you seen it?
I haven't thought about it this way because it's pronounced differently from 꿈 (romanised kkum or ggum), but now that you mention it, the analogy does make sense 🤔

Kind of reminded me of Sh La La by Taeyong that I also disliked.
nah ggum was a breath of fresh air for once, i find groups under hybe to at least try to be interesting and not just pop.
that's probably the main problem with kpop, and why some groups are more popular than others/ songs are liked but not albums.

i deleted twitter a while ago bc brazilian court has banned it from the country a few weeks ago. glad i was right about feeling i was not missing out on much if that's what people are doing there.
Bringing treasure into it was so unnecessary 😮💨
I wholeheartedly agree.
Yet this is what a bighit artist recieves when he create something else than soft y2k. if created same he would have get plagiarism allegation 😅. it's bloodbath for hybe artists..
for real!!
not to mention that the choreo was actually made by a team of women! it really doesn't matter what yeonjun released, people would have nitpicked and torn it apart using anything they could find.
Fr Twitter kpop stans are just so toxic. I kid you not every dumb 'controversy' comes from Twitter

The same thing is happening to many idols. There's been a tsunami of accounts trying to rage-bait people into interacting since now you can get money from Twitter. There are entire accounts pretending to be fans (of anything, really) just to only talk badly about other artists (often their direct competition). It's becoming so annoying to be on Twitter tbh
people nowadays are WAAAY too comfortable hating online
I've loved yeonjun for years and didn't like the song. It was extremely easy to just... move on and wait for the mix tape instead of throwing hate online like... why do all that it's not that serious and he's still a great artist 💀

this hate is no surprise. theyve been waiting in the rafters for this moment
Pls go to a mental hospital)
I love ggum and the choreography, as a female dancer myself I see no problem in the dance(even if it is a bit awkward I wasn’t surprised to see it cuz it is very much yeonjun’s style) and I think the song is really catchy too (a bit short tho TvT) stream ggum!!

Disclaimer : Twiiter/X has became a place for immature/brainless stans , so people should stop goinig on twitter for the sake of their mental health
1. For a normal solo release i would understand why people would be critical of him , but this a mixtape, not a mini album or full album. Mixtapes is really not meant for commercial success , it's more about releasing experimental music. This shouldn't be treated like a proper debut to be exact , in terms of a music release. The heavy autotune used can be explained , because its a mixtape
2. Yes Bighit is investing too much into a mixtape , with music show promotions. They are trying to make use of Yeonjun's popularity

Yes, but the hate popular female idols get is still way bigger and nastier than what popular male idols get. Popular male idols can get hate if they do or say something the public dislikes but popular female idols get hate for breathing and existing.
@@ygehouse no it goes both ways now... It's literally a food fight throwing, no one's safe
Thank you so much 😀😀😊😉Yeonjun is great ! He is so talented and the song is good. Besides, if this solo song isn't the one that you like, just find another one. And Yeonjun has lots of good work as well.. Haters gonna hate anyway ...
COUNTINUE STREAMING 'GGUM',EVERYONE ~ MOAs these days really make me so happy~
Not a MOA but I absolutely LOVE Yeonjun and the song slaps. Ppl be mad about it, they can stay mad. Yeonjun's amazing, simple as that 🤷🏻
It just means he is becoming very relevant. Haven’t you noticed the pattern? Once an idol starts getting very popular/relevant, you see a lot of haters appear. The more popular an idol gets the more haters they get, so Yeonjun fans should not be pissed, it just means your boy is really solidifying his position as the 4th gen It boy
Very true. Jealousy at its finest.
Just like Wonyoung and even Jennie. In 5th gen it’s being Ahyeon and maybe Wonhee too
Agreed
If someone who hasn’t done anything wrong is receiving this much backlash it truly shows how much influence they have
@@nidemens literally with more fame comes more hate unfortunately.
@@samthefroggo6657All humans have hips & we can move them back & forth! What’s the big deal? I just don’t get it! 😒🤦🏾♀️
Nayeon's hand covering private move in 'ABCD' instantly came to mind.
Whattt members of kiss of life twerks a lot and people love it
There are no double standards. Yeonjun is a boy and is getting lot of hate. Women are not oppressed in rich countries in 2024.
There's only one song in the album
@@kimmeer4299 BigHit announced that he would be releasing a pre-release of "Ggum" on September 19, ahead of the release of his first mixtape "Yeonjun's Mixtape: Ggum" which implies that there still could be more songs with the physical release, which I would love for it to be an actual mixtape with all the songs that he worked on because He has a vault full of unreleased music from over the years because I remember He said "Happy Fools" was going to be apart of His Mixtape. I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you I just don't want to eliminate the possibility 💕
Ggum is the only song on the mixtape
a lot of people always talk about how you aren't "allowed" to dislike songs on stan twitter and while i have seen that behavior i think it is at least partially motivated by instances like these. like people see artists getting so much undeserved hate and over-correct in the opposite direction where you absolutely HAVE to love EVERY single song that your favs ever put out otherwise you're a hater. i think stan twitter (twitter in general really) often pushes people to take the most extreme stance on things because having a lukewarm but more measured opinion doesn't get you as much attention. i mean in the case of yeonjun i'm not the biggest fan of ggum as i find the vocal processing in some parts to be kind of grating but saying "oh it's not for me but yeonjun's stage presence is still really great i hope he comes out with something that's for me down the line" doesn't get the likes and retweets that blaming yeonjun for an entire country's double standards and sexism does.
because they finally found a reason to bully him. it went beyond “not liking a song” turned into threats of all kind, bullying him for his appearance and more
Whether y'all like the song or not, it's already breaking records! I'm happy for Yeonjun!
Honestly yeounjun is it guy 💪and that's why people are jealous of him... He is talented 🙌😎people are just haters with no sense..... 🙄
He worker REALLY HARD, and the song is good. If it isn't, then it's not asked. MOAs will support him.
Bruh am i the only one who LOVES this song?..like how do ppl hate it
Honestly miserable people on stan twt have been waiting for literally any reason to attack any txt member, they always do.

I really disliked the song too but twitter is being way to dramatic
I'm not a fan. But I'm not on Twitter hating on someone. It's fine to dislike a song and stop listening to to but bashing someone is taking it too far
If you've been following txt and yeonjun, ggum is the most yeonjun song in existence 😭 its fine if u dont like it but you dont know yeonjun like that to decide what his solo debut should sound like 🙁
dont know why yall would think he'd do something like taemin.. and if he does everyone will be calling him the cheap copy of him so either way yall will be hating on yeonjun anyway 🤷🏻♀️

Because he Is Yeonjun and They wanted him to make a basic sexy Song...but mostly because he Is Yeonjun and everyone hate on him for envy
Yess I definitely feel that people had quite specific expectations for this song, so maybe some of the hate also came from that when these expectations weren't met!
@@dearyoongiyeah, agree but what they're doing is child play like the hell? What were you expecting?? But from what I saw this song is doing very good, it just shows that twitter yapping means nothing much lol

Exactly
It's so good to hear you putting things into perspective in such an objective way, you've got yourself a new sub ❤
Maybe all the hate is why he made ggum. So much unnecessary hate for the guy
Sometimes I feel sorry for Moa, their faves get irrational hate from kpoopies because in general, kpoopies hate bts.
but bts is a kpop group so their fans are kpoopies
No FOR REALLL
TXT is SO unproblematiccc, like we just chill, wait for music while enjoying their projects and content
a regular 'mute this account' or 'not interested in this post' is the best recipe to stay sane on kpop twitter 😉
WILD.
Also Ggum is a bop and the choreo is fire, brb streaming it more
Love to Moa from Stayville ❤
Lord.... 🙄
That's why I think it would be better, if you only can register in sns with your real names instead of nicknames.
They always target Yeonjun because they are threatened by him, I SAID WHAT I SAID
